"This sends absolutely the wrong message to New Hampshire's young people about the very real danger of drug use," said Manning.
What a fucking blow-hard. |

this whole weed argument is getting annoying already...make a small amount (less than 1/4 oz.) legal. i just don't get how these politicians don't see the benefit of decriminalizing the fucking thing. i'd love to meet any fuckhead governor, mayor, house member, etc. who didn't at least smoke this shit once. for fucks sake, our president of the u.s.a. was a god damn coke addict, then he has the balls to pass a law saying if you get busted for drugs, you're financial aid will get stripped. fuck this shit. |
|
i think a similar bills is headed to mass and i doubt there will be a veto.
it's about time we got away from all the puritanico-political bullshit that new england seems to still be mired in.
I went to the clinker for merely possessing less than a gram of goodness on my "person" back in 02' when I got pulled over for an 'excessively loud exhaust.' It did come up again with my scholarship crap in college and it totally sucked...
I think we all agree the country faces much bigger issues than grass smoking. I read something like 9 billion dollars a year are spent dealing with- something that for the most part, really isn't a problem.. |

well his last name is Manning...what do you expect? |

even if they were to "pass" it, wouldn't US federal law override it anyways? |

no, because it's still "illegal"...the cops still confiscate it, and fine... you just don't get booked and processed and spend like a week in jail.
my buddy spent two weeks in jail until his trial for possession of two eighths because it was "intent to sell", because it was in separate bags. he refused to talk, and they made him stay in the slammer until his trial. |

I thought it was already decriminalized in NH? What happened? |
|
Mass is about to ban that salvia stuff |

The states are Alaska, California, Colorado, Nebraska, New York, North Carolina, Maine, Minnesota, Ohio, and Oregon. These state legislatures ( except Alaska's ) decriminalized marijuana possession in the 1970s. Oregon was the first, in 1973, following the recommendations of the Nixon administration's National Commission on Marijuana Use ( also known as the Shafer Commission ). Nebraska was the last, in 1979. Another state, Mississippi, decriminalized marijuana possession in the '70s but later recriminalized it as a misdemeanor offense.
The state of decriminalization in Alaska is unclear. A 1975 state Supreme Court decision decriminalized marijuana possession, but voters approved a state referendum in 1990 that recriminalized all possession. Subsequent court rulings have upheld the 1975 decision, but the state's high court hasn't ruled on the matter, so the law remains ambiguous.
What does it mean to decriminalize possession? Decriminalization treats the possession of small amounts of marijuana ( such as 1 ounce ) as a civil, rather than a criminal, offense. Offenders are given a citation and fined, and their marijuana is confiscated. Possession of larger amounts is still a criminal offense because it implies an intent to sell. ( The laws differ from state to state. Ohio, for example, decriminalizes possession of up to 100 grams, or 3.5 ounces. |

gotcha. decriminalization just makes sense. |
