Something that has some body to it but doesn't sound like penis when you blast on it. I'll be mostly playing rockish shit on it so it much have good dynamics. A lot of bounce is a must. somewhere in the $200-300 range is idea but i'd be willing to spend a little more if it kicks that much ass. any suggestions.

Some sort of 6.5x14 bronze or aluminum snare would do you well. As for bounce, a lot of that has to do with tuning. Also, die-cast hoops are more stiff and a little more lifeless. Triple flanged hoops give the drum more ring and make the drum more lively, IMO. You could also try wood hoops. They provide killer rimshots, even more body and fullness, and a better cross stick.

this dude needs nerf hoops outfitted on his snare to stop breaking sticks.

hahahaha awesome

I think the reason i broke so many sticks is due to my snare being of a piece of shit. Has no bounce so i end up beating the shit out of it to get the best tone/some kick back.

Ive been using the drummer in archaeon snare for the last week and have had zero broken sticks.

Tell me about it. While I wait for my new kit I have a 6 lug snare. Rebound is about as good as a detuned concert bass.

Archaeon: I play Drums in Cold Northern Vengeance. BLACK PANTHER SNARE DRUM (Remo), All maple, 13x6... Special 2.66mm hoops enclosed.
its 150$ (cause its made in china), im very picky about gear, and this snare is DEAD ON! Body and attack, VERY LOUD yet controlled. Check that out. I had the same problem. Solved that with this snare drum
