chapter 50: this set of bands is way more their style than the first time I saw them. The kids from again we rise danced around for them.

again we rise: wow, really young kids. A lot of the people in the audience were their family. They will robably get better. They seemed sort of unsure of themselves so im guessing haven't played many shows.

a timely demise: how anyone wearing a bayside anything can question my sexuality is beyond me. Wearing a bayside shirt is second only to reaching under the stall next to you in a truck stop. I would have taken them up on the offer to steal their new guitar player, but then they would have to get another new one. they have gotten a lot better. I think the last time I saw them I said that they went more unearth and less zao. it is still far to say that same thing.

ghost of a fallen age: holy crap, that's one of the most surprising bands that I've seen in a long time. they totally stole the show. The singer re-introduced himself to me since the last time I saw him was sick as sin fest I think. The set was the best. This is exactly what I hoped the last FASSW CD would have been like. When they hit the stage, their equipment was so much louder and better than the previous bands. The singer, former FASSW fill in singer, casper, kept getting in the audience members faces and at one point riped a kid's shirt. He apologized And the kid said "it's ok, just give me a free arise and ruin shirt"

Caser also gave me a new saying. Return to the pit "don't be a faggot about it" meaning that everyone should go to my site and look at the pictures from the show. And that's how I feel about it too.

Casper headbutt me and we almost fought while they were playing. Apparently he's had too much to drink on this tour. After the show, I went up to him and told him everything was a misunderstanding and everything was fine. The last thing I want to do is fight someone in a band that I like. Lame.

Chapter 50 was a big turn off for me.

I heard them a while back and some what liked them, but seeing them and meeting them. I wish I hadn't. Their performance was weak and their attitudes afterwards was really shitty. They kissed ass to all the other bands and when someone not in a band of course came around they came off as really arrogant and cocky. You shouldn't do that to kids who are fans of your band.

Again We Rise, like someone else said, really young kids!

It was obvious they haven't played too many shows or even been playing in general for that long. Their performance was weak also, specificly the singer. They need to amp it up a bit. For their age, they were alright. More experience and I'll think they'll be much better. I'd like to seem them in a year or so.

Ghost Of A Fallen Age was insane!

The music was great, but the performance was a little over the top. While I love bands that act crazy and get in your face, they came off a little bit like douchebags. Though it could have been due to the fact that the singer was drunk, who knows. Either way this band was deffinitly one of the best.

But Arise And Ruin was by far the best.

Once again the music was great and the performance was insane also, but deffinitly not over the top. They interacted with the crowd and the crowd was eating it up, although there wasn't much of a crowd, which could have been due to a few other metal/hardcore shows going on in Manchester that night. I look forward to seeing and hearing more from this band.

chapter 50 was a bunch of douche bags. they were ripping on the band after them because the bassist had a little combo amp when the guys in chapter 50 had full stacks that their parents probably bought them cuz they still had the tags on them.

again we rise were young. that's pretty much all you can say about them.

ghost of a fallen age was great. great songs and great performance.

arise and ruin were pretty good. very entertaining.

acariya was great too as usual.

absence of the sun was a little painful. out of tune guitars and just kind of boring.

catharsis.....terrible.

catharsis just started a few months ago. my old band (secada) played with them a few times. good guys. im good friends with the drummer.
and by good friends i mean i live and have sex with him.

I could see what people are saying about chapter 50 from the last time I asw them. they mentioned touring and stuff, but I had never heard of them. they had a different attitude at this show imho.


arise and ruin: this was the reason I decided to hit this show. They were really good like I expected. Very heavy and had similar "in your face" moments like Ghost of a Fallen Age. If you thought they were slow, you'd be wrong. They were actually from canada, eh. Again, their equipment was a cut above the rest of the bands in the venue (all wireless no less). Very load. I would say they are a touch more hardcore-ish live than on CD. Probably why there was so much moshing. It is definitely hard to play after ghost, but they pulled it off.

acariya: lots of people up front having fun with them. There was even a gang vocals part. These dudes might have had the most amount of actual audience memebers at this show. They played a bunch of songs that I knew from he demo and from other times seeing them playing. people piled up on the top of everyone too for their second to last song.

absence of the sun: They got a new singer. the "out of tune" guitars I heard too, but I think that they were so rushed since the show was running late. Still not that bad of a band. The younger kids in the audience were really into it.

catharsis: I think that the singer ms'd me the other week to say that he was in this new band. He was the best part of his old band. I remember seeing his old band in maine a while ago. They were a lot different from all the other bands on the bill. There were a few parts of their songs here I though it was a little empty and I thought "huh, there should be something more here" maybe another guitar track on a CD or something. I think that they will definitely be a lot better as time goes on, but I liked what I heard. they just need to polish it up a bit.

yeah i agree with you i really shouldve stepped up my intensity this show... this is the biggest event we have ever played, and we have only been a band for a short, short while. But there is no excuse... we couldve played alot better.

you guys are young and unsure of yourself.

As the Vocalist for Chapter Fifty, I appreciate Again We Rise and proudly consider them friends of 'the family'
I wish other people would stop causing drama. The combo amp thing was a misunderstanding. If people would pay attention to how we actually are as people, we were going to offer AWR one of our amps to borrow for that show. In fact, one of that bands fathers were at that show and he thanked us for being considerate to his sons band.

On a personal note, if people are going to waste time trying to start shit, than they obviously need to get a reality check. Because we are in this for the long haul and we work hard just like every other band in the area. We respect every single band in the state, and will/would play any show if asked.

as for the "attitude" people are speaking of, these accusations come as shock to us. we have always loved playing shows with any band in any area. We are a band that will play with any band of any genre or age, or experience level. Whether we're playing with a band on metal blade, or a band who just came out of the garage- disrespecting bands has never been something we have ever been about. As I post this reply we are currently on tour in New Jersey and are trying to spread our music to other areas other than the slightly decaying New Hampshire scene. Forgive us for writing music that isn't made for the mosh-pit professionals.

The attitude you have is a holier than thou attitude, not just to bands but to fans. It's almost like you are above talking to your fans.

I could be wrong but that was the vibe I got from you when we played with you in Gilford. I still like your music regardless.

First, Chapter 50 played with a band on Friday February 22nd who wernt really ready because they had lost their drummer and were still working on it, and they supported them fully. If you dont like their music, don't listen, dosnt mean you have to sit here and bash every little thing about them.

None of you have any idea how down to earth Chapter Fifty really are. I've played quite a few shows with them, and they hold respect for us as well as us to them. some people need to get the fuckin stump out of their ass and learn to take a fucking joke.

Okay, first off, Chapter 50 are one of the nicest and most considerate bands out in our scene now. During every show I've ever seen them play, they always talk to every band, no matter if they've been in one for years or it was their first show, and they treat them with the utmost respect. My name Matt Blanchette, I used to play in the metal band called A Familiar Terror before we broke up just over a month ago. People tell me that my band was high up in the ranks of the NH scene and if that is true then I have to say that we would of never made it anywhere without the friendship and support we had from people like all the members of Chapter 50. We played many many shows with them, and they treated us like family. Them and their manager/band dad Ron (Not really sure how to label him haha (I <3 you Ron)) got A Familiar Terror onto a bunch of shows that we would never have gotten on without their help. We've driven hundreds of miles to the same shows, and both not recieved payment for many of these shows forcing us all to pay gas out of pocket. I have never seen a single member of this band ever have a negative comment to say, and if you think they came off as douchebags then you dont know them.

Grow up and dont talk trash until you've worked your friggen ass off in a band and made friends with hundreds of the nicest people you will ever meet...including the members of Chapter 50.

That's completely fine. But just because you don't like the way a band sounds doesn't mean they suck. You're no better than all the mainstream people that say all this music is, is screaming. a. it's their music, their sound, and their band. I'm really sorry that they don't play to your liking. If it's one thing I respect about Chapter 50 is that they dare to be different in such a stubborn music scene.

So much hard work and commitment goes into a band, and it does hurt when you know how much you've put into it and someone tells you that you "suck". If you don't like it, keep it to yourself. Bottom line. There's no reason at all for this childish shit. Wither Chapter 50 is the greatest thing to walk on stage, they deserve enough respect for actually getting on it that you kids blatantly disregard because you don't like their genre. why would you say anything like that when you know, since you obviously dig this kind of music, that they sound like a sloppy version of everything else out there? i cant tell you one thing thats different. MAYBE put a little extra effort in there to suck an extra dick or two between or during the build up to open chord chuggity chug breakdowns that are, chug for chug, exactly the same as everyone else and that are stale as hell.

this is the internet. you will not find salvation here when you are a flavor of the week whiny metalcore band. you might find a group of middle schools or guys in girl pants saying "hey nice band LOL!!!!" but that wont be the case anywhere else.

if you want actual constructive criticism:

i listened to all of the songs on your myspace. your drummer needs to be tighter. thats the main thing. another huge thing is you really need to work on singing in tune, ESPECIALLY when there are dual vocal "harmonies". seriously, i actually physically shuddered a couple times. hell, my GF who was doing something else (playing WoW actually) turned around a few times and said "wow, this is terrible, turn it off" and "why are you listening to this?" and she likes some pretty terrible bands (circle takes the square, norma jean, the used, etc etc). and the final piece of advice is: just stop doing open chord breakdowns! honestly, if you want to be different, or try to be atleast, just stop doing them. in a genre of music such as yours, 99% of the fans listen to bands and go to shows for the MOSH PARTS and SING-A-LONGS and thats it. the other 90-10% of the music is just filler and gives them time to catch a breather for their next crowd punch opportunity. (depending on the band, because some bands are like 90% breakdowns).

Chapter 50 is a great band. They are constantly improving their music and show performances. I know the band members personally and they are nice people.

For those people who said that they were "cocky" or said that they have a "bad attitude", who are you to judge? do you even know them. NO, you probably don't so dont judge them. For all the people writing negativity You're the one with the bad attitude. Learn how to be respectful.

As for "their parents buying their equiptment", how would you know? you weren't there. I was there and watched Dan buy his full stacks with his own money.

For all of you who say that Chapter Fifty has a "bad attitude" or is "cocky" you have no idea. You honestly need to get to know a person BEFORE you say anything about them. I have known Chapter Fifty for a few years now. I know them all personally. They are some of the best people i have met in a very very long time. And some of you people at these shows, are the most disrespectful, inconsiderate people i have ever met in my life. You don't have any respect for anybody but yourselves. And if you say that they make "sucky" music, WHO ARE YOU TO JUDGE?! You can't say anything except for your opinion. If that IS your opinion YOU CAN SPEAK IT, BUT YOU DON'T HAVE TO GO THIS FAR! You seriously need to GROW UP and learn how to RESPECT. And for going online like every two seconds to post something new?! You really need to get lives. They have come a really long way, and they WILL go places in life, unlike some of you. They have good attitudes, and are respectful to EVERYONE they meet. There is a big scene in New Jersey, and they are getting their name out there. And unlike most of the bands out there, they actually TALK TO THEIR FANS, and actually care about them. They are wonderful wonderful people, and they are excellent at what they do...which is making GREAT, BEAUTIFUL music. They actually are trying something different, and are putting effort into their music. It's actually difficult to write this kind of music, because there are more than two chords in it. I love their music and always will. So all of you need to stop being so disrespectful, and rude. Really get lives. They are the most amazing people I have ever met in my life. And I love each and every one of them with all my heart, they have a special place in my heart that can NEVER be replaced.

chapter 50 thats a long book

This is in response to all of the above. RTTP! I would like to say thanks in part for having this forum. I believe that everyone has the right to express there feelings, and opinions abroad. As for the fore mentioned constructive criticism. You are correct the drums in those songs on the Chapter Fifty myspace needed to be tighter, as well as the harmonies to some respect. I should know, and I have no problem with saying the above, as I am the FATHER to the drummer.

How-ever I want all of the above to know that those songs were written, and mostly recorded when they were only 15 to 17 years of age with the exception of one of the songs listed on there myspace.
Hindsight being 20 / 20 maybe they should have waited before recording, but it was ME, that wanted them to record, and it was ME who had them on a tight budget that kept them from putting in more time, and money that was apparently needed. So if there is criticism to be made direct it to ME! I wish you all could understand the amount of work and money that goes into recording. They paid for everything. They always do. Every piece of there equipment was bought and paid for by all the members, especially DAN. He puts more money, heart, sweat, and energy into this band that does not get recognized, and needs to be. This is there passion! One thing you can not knock, well maybe you will, is the amount of energy they give night in, and night out when they play! For there age, and time as a band they have accomplished more than I could ever have imagined.

Everyone likes different styles of music, and they should! Its nice to see that certain people are extremely passionate about it. I just ask that the ones who comment remember that the bands you do love, and support work no harder than most of the band’s you don’t appreciate. Just think hard before you write, and comment, and think hard if it were all happening to you! Why bust “And Then There Were None” balls because they changed there style of music. They were hard working awesome guys prior to the change, and are now! The fact that a band does not play your style at all or no longer does not mean they change as people.

These kids at times may come off brash, and when they do they usually realize it, and quickly change there demeanor. How ever there are those times when they don’t, and it is usually because they are in great moods about things, and they are not thinking of what may be going on around them. I have been around these guys in every forum there is. The passion they have about there music, and one another are unlike things I have ever seen. Do they make mistakes? All the time! Every single day. In the end though, they thank god every single day for what they have. This group of guys call them selves family. They truly care for one another as family. These guys are all sons of mine. They are part of my family. They would never, ever, in any time, place or era hurt anyone or think they are above anyone. That is against everything they believe in.

I think this band is very much well rounded.
They have a talent that can take them far if they choose to use it.
Their vocalist, however, looks to be very unlike the rest of the band.
I also noticed that they have a "light guy"
He should be recognized as a large part of the band for his effort.
