Someone actually named their band after a Killing Time song?

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Feb 5,2008 4:38pm
February, 5 2008 at The Living Room
23 Rathbone Street, Providence, Rhode Island 02908
Cost :

SICK OF IT ALL, MADBALL, DEATH BEFORE DISHONOR, & WISGOM IN CHAINS

I'm not sure if I'm going... I didn't hear back from one of the bands so I'm not sure if I'm set to get in.

toggletoggle post by brian_dc  at Feb 5,2008 4:44pm
WISGOM!

toggletoggle post by brian_dc  at Feb 5,2008 4:45pm
just sneak in the back door

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Feb 5,2008 4:47pm
I just C+P'd that.

the living room is one of the few clubs that no matter how many times I go there, they never care what I do or who I am and just want my $$. Plus, the backdoors are safely secured by a chain and a pad lock.

toggletoggle post by brian_dc  at Feb 5,2008 4:51pm
yeah, I know...Living Room loves that cash money

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Feb 5,2008 5:22pm
whether true or not, I've always gotten that vibe. it's not like the palladium, obriens, as220, club hell where you can talk bs with the promoter, bouncers, or the door guy. I don't think I ever talked with anyone that worked at the livingroom that wasn't relating to me paying or wanting to put something in my car.

toggletoggle post by ZJD   at Feb 5,2008 5:25pm
If you give them some money they might let you in.

toggletoggle post by brian_dc  at Feb 5,2008 5:28pm
Rev only pays for (some) charity shows

toggletoggle post by brian_dc  at Feb 5,2008 5:29pm
and frankly, with the service he's doing...at least one band should guest the guy so you can have great live pictures...it's worth whatever they tack off of what they pay out at the end of the show if it's a dick venue

that's worst case...usually places don't care if you guest rev

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Feb 5,2008 5:34pm
if I had to pay for the shows that I shot.... man... I believe last year (2006) I lost about $24K on this site. the year before that (2005) was $14K I think.
I find out Monday what the damage was for 2007.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Feb 5,2008 6:20pm
on my way there now. im all set. see some of you there.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Feb 5,2008 7:30pm
awesome the crowd looks pretty big all around. they are already letting people in.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Feb 5,2008 7:39pm
holy crap... basically all the people that I saw working down here are gone... itzs all PVD people that I know. before the door guy was alwas someone with dreds I think.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Feb 5,2008 9:19pm
this show is awesome.. wow...

toggletoggle post by AUTOPSY_666   at Feb 5,2008 9:26pm
My friend Tommy said that he and a bunch of Newporters were heading there.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Feb 5,2008 9:28pm
im more shocked that there are real bouncers here tha just about anything else.

wisdom in chains: in the crowd, I couldn't so much hear the singer's voice as feel its power shaking my insides into mud. Wow was that bassy. All low end. The crowd went ape for them which is awesome. I think the first time I went to see them, they canceled and everyone was super bummed. Then the second time, the kids didn't care as much that they were playing. I thought there were going to get the same disinterest that lague strength for a reason up here. On the contrary, the kids liked them a lot.

A bunch of people I know are at this show. These shows are usually fun.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Feb 5,2008 10:23pm
is it a different promoter? or are there alawys bouncers here now?

death before dishonor: for a long time, this band had the most solid line up out of any hardcore band ever. I thought that that was what made them such a good band. Then they had the first line up change. After a 6 months, I forgot they changed anything. Then another line up change, 6 months later, I forget they were ever different and they were strong as ever. Now they had a very severe change, the drummer. I predict the same thing. 6 months and I will forget anything changed. I must say it was quite a shock seeing a different drummer, but I'll get over it. These guys stay as strong as they are cause their music is fun and catchy and their fans come out in force. Brian got on stage even though he probably has pneumonia and had been coughing up blood and they were as good as they ever were. I know after playing out at brockton way too many times, and the crowd there dwindling a bit, I was afraid that they were played out in this neck of the woods. Thankfully, after touring a ton, near sold out boston shows, and their closest show being a little outside the range of brockton, everyone made the pilgrimage to providence to see them.

it smells so strongly of weed here that im feeling munchy.

madball: this band ages like fine wine. 20 years? And their newest CD might be their best. Funny that freddie mentioned agnostic front. I saw them in the middle period (late 90's, early 00's) and wasn't too impressed. But in the passed 2 1/2 years, they have have amped it up and just play so much better. It helps that 1/2 the songs they played are from before a chunk of the crowd was born (or at least close) so they have no excuse not to know the songs. Their set was nothing but head rolling and stage diving. That one bouncer on the side was sort of unhappy. after every time I see them, I think they re better than the time before. once again, they beat their performance from the SBC show. this is the way madball should be, no barrier between the crowd and the stage.

toggletoggle post by Lamp  at Feb 6,2008 12:26am
I'm guessing you went south of the Living Room and ended up on US-6 west.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Feb 6,2008 1:17am
naw, I was on 95N Nd must have gotten off one of those 2 right exits after the mall. I was on 146 too. I spaced while listening to election crap.

wow this looks like it was fun as hell. most people ive seen at a show on a tuesday in providence ever.

rev any word on what happened after the liferuiner show on monday? i guess someone "messed up" the venue after the show or something. mike called jake about it last night to see if we knew anything. and i still dont know anything.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Feb 6,2008 7:54am
I heard someone talking about something going on and I think it was chris assuring the bouncers that those people wouldn't come out to this show.

toggletoggle post by brian_dc  at Feb 6,2008 9:09am
hmm

toggletoggle post by cav nli at Feb 6,2008 11:01am
yea all i know is two bands showed up who were on tour with liferuiner and couldnt play because the promoter never knew they were coming and the dudes at the living room werent down with having more than 5 bands. one band took off and the other stuck around only to get their van broken into and get their GPS stolen, which is serious bullshit (NEVER PARK YOUR VAN BEHIND THE LIVING ROOM!) then tried to "sneak" onstage after liferuiner after almost everyone left and the soundguy pretty much laughed at them and told them to leave.

then i was on the phone with jake yesterday and he got a call from mike on the other line all pissed off that someone "messed up" the venue. one of them was telling me he wanted to burn the place down so im not surprized. if i were them i would have been more pissed off at the promoter and the dude who broke into their van than the living room who simply decided not to be nice about letting them play even though they werent booked. i dunno.

this time it was definitely the promoters fault. and im pretty sure shes small time, rock karma or something like that. mike and charlie were nowhere to be seen monday.

toggletoggle post by cav nli at Feb 6,2008 1:06pm
by the way, thats awesome if you are able to legitimize the jeep shop, im sure thatll make things a lot easier.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Feb 6,2008 1:08pm
I was curious about the jeep shop and the legal-bs since olneyville was shut down.

Show was pretty sick, even for a Tuesday show. Sick of It All was awesome, but Wisdom in Chains was my band of the night. I fucking love that band.
