I remember when they updated the engy in TFC.
Back in the golden age of team fortress, engies could not make teleporters. The game changed forever with the implementation of the teleporter. TF2 NEEDS MORE NADES AND LESS HUMOR

I'm really not a fan of Steambook. Which reminds me, I may have to talk to you or Reimroc and possibly have one of you come down to help upgrade my new PC. Everything about it is good but the videocard is onboard with the motherboard and mass effect is choppy. I may need a newer card.. It is the nvidia geforce 6150 se. I want something a little newer but may néed a new power supply more than 250w. that's about my limited hardware knowledge; it is possible to keep the sane mobo, but disable the onboard card and use a different one, right?

It is totally possible. I'd say 250w power supply is woefully inadequate also. You aren't getting that new pc anymore?

That is my new PC. 250w, Geforce 6150se are the downsides. It wasn't built for gaming really; if it wasn't a gift I wouldve built one from scratch. But I'm okay with upgrading this. All I want is a better video card at some point, but I know that may require me to upgrade the power supply, and perhaps add another fan.

Onboard video eats up memory bandwidth that should strictly go from RAM to CPU. Onboard video memory hops on to the same bus and it effectively cuts your computer's performance in half. Definitely need a dedicated video card to cut out the need to use system RAM. But once you get a new video card you're going to need a higher output power supply. This is the bad thing about PC gaming.

And yeah, as long as your motherboard has a PCI xpress x16 slot, you're all set. All video cards need their own dedicated power rail from the power supply now. The geforce 6150 is ancient now, I got a 9800GT and that's 2 years old now. They're up to x280's or something? You can get a good one out of the new series for under $100 and your PC's performance will multiply a trillion times.

Easily done. As long as it isn't a shit case, another power supply should fit in. Get a good 500w or better power supply (emphasis on good and well rated) and you should be ok. Get that video card above and you won't need another for several years.

shouldn't need another fan, video cards are good at cooling themselves nowadays unless you're an insatiable system overclocker (which requires too much time and money, system instability and headaches for me to bother)

yeah, slag won't have to upgrade for years. i haven't touched my system for a couple years and i have no problem running crysis at max. i have to replace some parts in mine now though because my PC literally shuts off randomly if i play any HD video or game that's not TF2 (which is still a gamble)

The CPU only has one PCI slot available, One PCI Express X16, and two X1s.

I still play TF2. Rarely pub anymore though. You can usually find me in either TF2Lobby, ESEA or playing some random scrim.

Aril that Geforce 7950gt is 10 times faster than your existing and will fit in your PC. It's yours for the price of coming down to the ARK/DYA residence to hang.

Ark is right. For free, it will play any game you throw at it. Not max settings, but it will play everything.


I remember a time when I used to play VGA games and there were no such things as "video cards". One of the first cards we got was either ATI or Matrox Millenium.

I remember the first time I played Wing Commander 3 with my 3dfx Voodoo card and almost blew my early teen wad in amazement.

I honestly miss VGA gaming.
Im quite pissed that Impulse Tracker doesn't work with DOS box in Windows 7. Unless I did it wrong. That's why number one complaint with windows. They should have had a solid way to make DOS programs work like the old day.

It's not 100% compatible with everything, including the program I use to write music.
They used to have a thing called VDM sound which emulated a Sound blaster 16 or all DOS programs but they discontinued it in 2005. DOS Box is the only best option but I don't really like it. Windows' programmers should give you the ability to run any DOS program.

they should, there's win95 emulation, but windows doesn't run on top of DOS anymore.

I don't see why they don't considering it was their bread and butter for years.

Ok so I finally bought TF2. It's real fun at certain times, but to me it's a lot easier than TFC. Why?
- Pyros. Way to take a shitty support class and make it much deadlier. They are much more powerful now than they ever were before.
-Medics ability to heal standing a few feet away. Back in the old days, us medics used to have to walk up a hill in the snow AND touch you to heal. None of this proximity shit.
- Spy. Way to take the fun out of being a spy. Seriously. So much easier to fool the other team now and get cheap kills.
- No nades. Seriously? Mo mirvs? No emps? Fuck is this shit? They also made the demoman a pretty weak unit. Demoman is my favorite TFC class but now the new one pales in comparison.

There's so more but it's a fun game. They changed too many things which to me, still makes TFC a sacred mod and I will continue playing both

every class has a specific niche. the demoman is powerful - he's the ONLY one with grenades, but you have to be a master to use him on the front line. and remember that rocket and grenade jumping is part of the game, demomen can reach higher altitudes than any other class.
pyros became the main assault class.

heavy/medic teams seem unstoppable but easy targets for a spy or pyro with a backburner. there are counters and counter-counters for every strat.

that's what's cool about it. It's just completely different, which is what i expected anyway. it's real fun though.
Some maps are awesome, some are meh. I am dissapoint .. With new 2fort. Ugh.
