This movie was surprisingly good, although the music can be a bit much at times and a lot of it is repetitive(for effect). It's probably the most twisted Burton movie...I'd highly recommend it if you think you can bear through a lot of singing and Christina Ricci trying to be passed off as a 15 year old.

Sacha Baron Cohen brings the LOLz with his cameo.

Anyone else see it?

I've seen it three times, all incredibly high.

i was mediocre high. i think i would have enjoyed it in any state of mind.

except maybe drunk. i might get annoyed with all the singing while drunk.

Yea, I was surprised by this movie as well...I'm not crazy for musicals, but this one was pretty good.

I am kind of interested in seeing, but I have a morbid hate of musicals.

I don't mind musicals too much unless they're done super annoying and shittily (*cough* Family Guy *cough*). I gotta give Depp the benefit of the doubt though...

Go look at clips on Youtube of the George Hearn versions, that'll give you a good idea of what to expect, story-wise. I loved the movie, personally, and the songs came off well.

Great flick.

A lot of people that normally hate musicals can like this. The music is very impressionistic and dissonant. I hear a lot of Ravel and DeBussy influence in this Sondheim work.

Christina Ricci wasn't even remotely in this movie. Just, y'know, FYI.
