I never liked drum machine grind because:
Number one, I get annoyed by blastbeats in general and drum machine blastbeats sound really fucking annoying.
Number two, the mentality behind these "bands" seems to be that faster = better, which is just not true at all. "Dood, we're so fuckin fast dood, because we use a drum machine - its fuckin br00tal yo!" Whatever.
Number three is that most of these "bands" are basically losers who don't feel like putting the effort into writing/playing decent music so they half ass it with boring noisy "riffs" and a drum machine, throw in a few profanity-laden obscure movie samples and that's their poor excuse for trying to get their foot in the door to their dumb ass scene (or maybe trying to impress some ugly metal chicks, who knows?)

I make shit with a drum machine because I both can't play the drums to what I write and don't know anyone personally who can. I guess when it comes down to it, I have no life and making music is quite simply something I enjoy to do, even if I have to use fake drums with no soul.

Agoraphobic Nosebleed is the only band that fits into this category that I fully enjoy. Putrid Pile, Insidious Decrepancy, Viral Load et al. are not drum machine grind...they are death metal, goddammit. And they are damn good. I'd say Fuck...I'm Dead falls into the death metal category as well; also good stuff.

Catasexual Urge Motivation is so much more than a drum machine grind band. They were in their own world and are still one of my all time favorite bands. No one can even match up to how dark and menacing their sounds were.

And yeah, Putrid Pile and INSIDIOUS DECREPANCY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! are not grind, far from it. Also both are pretty far from being good.

now I'm not terribly a big fan of drum machine death metal/grind(let me explain before you jump down my throat), but I wouldn't say I dislike it. there's always something more satisfying in seeing a human do the ridiculous things a machine can.
with The Mammon Machine, we had no other choice. we had tried out plenty of drummers, and unfortunately, the choices in seacoast NH were very limited seeing as real metal fans were few and far between(aside from the Porphyria and Putrescene boys).
after a while we just said "fuck it" and started playing shows with our "drummer in a box" and it went well for a while. soon I grew tired of it and joined up with HS feeling better about being in a full band.
I completely understand both sides of the arguement, so in all, you guys should like both live and technological drummers if the music itself is actually good!
