As long as Mark's doesn't get their hands on this one either.

But damn, do I like me some Decrepit Birth.

the new Decrepit Birth is going to be the album of the year
from what I heard Matt has been possessed by Chuck Schuldiner and is playing Brutal Death

but yea, Im hoping for a PVD date or somewhere in MA

...im conflicted. 'ATB' is one of my top all time DM albums...i wish i could have a continuation of the brootality rather than a cynic/quo vadis/death type follow up..and last time i checked the band death did not classify as 'brutal death.' amazing yes but brutal death? no..

toggletoggle post by Blue  at Oct 24,2007 8:23pm
cmon, youre trying to say that the new DB isnt going to be brutal as all hell? you know its going to be regardless of how mind bogglingly uber tech prog it is going to be.

Do you think there is a chance that this will sell out, now that it has been moved downstairs? I don't want to have to pay the incredibly gay charges this website is trying to make me pay. Buying tickets at the door will still be cheaper than this.

Can anyone with experience with recent BDM-headlined shows at the Palladium shed some light on this?

toggletoggle post by xanonymousx at Jan 17,2008 11:34pm
go to fye or strawberries and get your tickets there, there will be a fee, but i don't think it will be more than a few dollars.

last time i went to the palladium for a downstairs show it said on the site to buy your tickets at the door and when we got there two of the people i went with couldn't get in cause it got sold out.
since the black dahiia murder is a big band now [and i use big lightly] this may sell out at the door.

I was also able to get permission for flash. what a weird idea. lights here always blow. (unless it's in flames or something)

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Jan 19,2008 9:20pm
I've already run into soooo many people. even some of the dudes frm soul remnants (who I hear need a bass player).

decrepit birth: the singer looked like a slightly younger chris barnes. Of course, I would saw that about any slim DM singer with some dreds. The music was pretty tight live. It really wasn't loud at all. Thy could have definitely turned it up a notch or two, before it turned into an echoy mess. Given what decapitated went through 2-palladium-shows ago, for the first band, the sound was better than expected.

hate eternal: whatever the song they ended with was probably their most epic (reminiscent of chapel of ghouls) riff in any of their albums. They played some really good tracks off the new CD, but I will be completely honest, I have to listen to the CDs before I get like any of their new stuff. I remember king of kings was almost a wall of noise to me before I listened to it 3 times in a row. Speaking of kings, they played stuff off that too.

The coolest thing that happened to me was a really young kid coming up and asking if I was with rttp. I said yes and as I turned to shale his hand, he just walked off and "left me hanging". I'm sure that he just didn't see my hand, but he is my new hero.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Jan 19,2008 9:21pm
I felt like the dude from lost "yeah, I knew this was going to happen. I play bass in rust gasket" or what ever that band is.

3 inches of blood are the best band on this bill

Condemned to nothingness
Diminishing between worlds
And time begins
Reflection of Emotions

Decrepit Birth was sick. Hate Eternal was mediocre. 3 Inches of Blood was lacking something. Black Dahlia Murder was better than I've seen them in awhile.

Overall pretty damn good show.

toggletoggle post by SteveOTB   at Jan 20,2008 2:29am
Awesome fucking show. 3 Inches of Blood killed even without their 2nd vocalist but that's fine as long as the epic vocalist is in the picture it's all good.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Jan 20,2008 3:12am
3 inches of blood: dan, I totally forgot hat they lost their other singer. The guitarist filled in for the vocals, but it wasn't the same. The other guy was a vocalist. The guitarist is a guitarist who just also screams. The best part of this band IMHO used to be the way the two "annoying" vocalists worked together musically. Now, it's the drummer. Who ever that new guy is is just a monster. Yeah, he looks like an older version of our nerdy sealex (ex-ttos, cur-PE), but that dude plays better than the last guy. Again, just my opinion.

black dahlia murder, the: I've seen these guys so many times over the passed few years. Some of the additions, subtractions and replacements have been both good and bad, but this band is totally in a great zone now. Very solid and shannon's massive drum sounds add infinitly to this band. They played a really good set. Even the very old songs sounded somewhat better. It was also funny watching little kids in the pit constantky throwing horns. I think there were some semifserious injuries in the pit 3 times bad enough for security to pull people out.

Decrepit Birth destroyed

I was fucking PISSED that I missed Decrepit Birth. Poor planning on my part, so I guess I can't be too angry. I drove an hour and a half just to miss the 1 band on the bill I really wanted to see, haha. At least I got a sick fucking deal on the CD and hoodie.

Hate Eternal was good; I've never really been too into them but they kept me entertained. I can't fucking stand the goddamn falsettos in 3 Inches Of Blood, but they have some damn good riffs. TBDM was pretty damn tight; the dude in the gorilla costume was quite a nice touch.

Nice meeting DaveFromTheGrave finally, even though we've seen each other at countless shows I'm sure.

By the way Mark, that's actually the guy who signed up to be on I Love New York a little while ago but never made it, and he does that during the song "Statutory Ape."

Fucking damn good show. Had never heard 3 Inches of Blood before, and it was defintiely sick. Hate Eternal definitely stole the show.

toggletoggle post by corpus_colostomy at Jan 20,2008 9:37am
traveled with MFR, so i DID miss DB. however i had a good time burning back stage with bill of decrepit birth. dood snuck me back, telling the security that i was his brother steve--he comped me a free hoodie and the new cd as we raved about glassy barrels, fine ganja, and how work is the root of all evil.

i do also recall later in the show, getting 'goatcatalyst' and a one 'archeon' back stizzy as well for a monster session. the goat has some of the finest green around...thank you for sharing.

when all is said and done, the highlight of my night would have to be chowing a few mushrooms late night at the sexcrement space. thanks again evan!

haha nah that wasn't me that was the bassist in archaeon. should have been me.

Decrepit were fucking great, Pissed me off how all the people in the front row could care fucking less about them but the like 5 guys i was with in the second row were going apeshit. They dedicated a song to ben marlin, people cheered but clearly no one knew who he was. And their merch was a fucking bargain, I got a hoodie and ATB shirt for $35 either because bill is bad at math or he gave me a deal.

Didn't pay attention to Hate Eternal really, from where i was all i could hear is the misfiring triggers. Erik rutans forehead is even bigger in person. I also like how they we're playing gateways to annihilation over the PA all night between bands.

3 Inches were awesome live, wicked fucking gay, but awesome.

TBDM were fucking unbelievable. They really mixed up the set, I never got board. And fuck was their mix awesome, vocals sounded just like the album.

their set went something like this (in random order):
Everything Went Black
The Blackest Incarnation
Elder Misanthropy?
I'm Charming
Statutory Ape
A Vulgar Picture
Miscarriage
Miasma
What A Horrible Night To Have A Curse
Nocturnal
Deathmask Divine
Warborn
Funeral Thirst
Closed Casket Requiem
Apex

I was hanging with Bill most of the show and he was genuinely overwhelmed by the way people were going ape shit for DB merch. This is there first time over here and he was saying how he was taken back at the voracity, with which people were buying shit.

It's also worth saying that Bill really isn't out there in my opinion. In my estimation, he's much closer to the 'real thing' than most of could ever hope to be in this lifetime.

Very much a renaissance man.

it probably was him. I know that tony was there on the side of the stage most of the night.

toggletoggle post by ouchdrummer   at Jan 21,2008 11:15am
i thought it was him. the way he didnt move his head, his setup, his REDICULAS speed. He always wears a hat too. man that dude is good... and i wasnt saying there's anything wrong with bill, like i said he was real nice, in a genuine way, but he was definately out there. maybe it was cause he was overwhelmed, its a little surprising that people usaully dont buy their stuff with voracity, IMHO they are close to the best band playing right now.

Lord Marco is definitely one of the best drummers in my opinion. Every time I listen to The Faceless album it fucking blows me away.

Don't the post-concert dance party to Rick James "Superfreak".
Lots of white people randomly getting down.

toggletoggle post by ouchdrummer   at Jan 21,2008 11:27am
i might be crazy but i think the faceless album was recorded by nick pierce? i thought lord marco just joined after for a while.

toggletoggle post by ouchdrummer   at Jan 21,2008 11:28am
nick pierce is another silly-brutal drummer. he plays left hand traditional grip and STILL gets crazy hard hits during blasts. fucking nutty.

toggletoggle post by ouchdrummer   at Jan 21,2008 11:32am
wow, i guess looking throught the old rttp archives helps on questions like this... cause this is what i found posted from the band when nick pierce left. i guess we were both wrong....

"We also want to take this time to publicly thank Nick for recording our title/instrumental track of the album 'Akeldama'. He did a great job on that song and adapted very well to the style necessary for giving the song the vibe we were looking for. Along with that we'd like to thank the other drummers to took part in the album as well

Nick Pierce- Track 7
Andy Taylor- Tracks 2 & 5 (Diskreet)
Navene Koperwies- Track 4 (Animosity)
Brett Batdorf- Tracks 1, 3, 6 & 8 (Penatralia)

Before you all ask, the reason for all the different drummers is because at the different stages of the very long and constantly changing recording process, we had changed drummers for one reason or another. For example the album began as a 4 song EP (which are not tracks 1 3 6 & 8) after Brett Batdorf was no longer in the band and Andy Taylor began to play with us we decided it should be a full length. Unfortunately he could only be in the band for a certain period of time, so he only recorded 2 tracks (2 & 5). But 6 songs is hardly a full-length album, so we asked our good friend Navene to record a song for the album (track 4). After that we asked Nick to join and along with that to record the instrumental track for the album (track 7). "

That's a lot of drummers.

toggletoggle post by ouchdrummer   at Jan 21,2008 11:45am
yeah, its wierd cause i always thought it was one drummer, and i would've thought i could hear a difference in styles between songs. hmmm.. i thought my ears were better than that. i will just blame it on studio trickery. (makes me feel better, because i have listened to this record at least hundreds of times.)

toggletoggle post by immortal13 at Jan 21,2008 11:47am
Same here. I never noticed a difference between drumming in any of the songs.

toggletoggle post by ouchdrummer   at Jan 21,2008 11:58am
i actually thought i could hear a distinct style consistently through the whole album... although i could kinda tell the instrumental was different. i just thought he played a little different with no vocals.

Jade Simonetto - Drums (Camilla Rhodes, ex-The Plasma Rifle)

according to metal archives

I HATE lord marco or whatever the fuck. His lack of feel drives me nuts.

he can play pretty fast i guess.

the new hate eternal drummer hits so soft. super lame for a metal drummer. he needs to stop hitting the crashes like he is playing bebop.

black dahlia kicked ass as usual. one of the serious injuries was my friend jeff getting popped with his mouth open and dragged out. he was bullying little kids in the pit during hate eternal. fuckin hilarious. another i believe was an elbow thrown at some mulatto bitch who enjoys open hand slapping people in the pit.

i really liked 3 inches of blood too. i had never heard them before and i was expecting some shitty hardcore band just from their name. i was impressed though.

unfortunately i missed decrepit birth which sucks.

oh yeah soul remnants does still need a bass player if anyone is interested.

Decrepit Birth stole the fucking show. All the bands were great though. Awesome show.

i'm surprised nobody mentioned Earl, here. homeboy looked like he'd rather have been trolling for bass than playing the metal of death.

Nothing wrong with being a little bit of a redneck -- especially if he can keep up with Rutan on guitar.

toggletoggle post by GoatCatalyst   at Jan 21,2008 4:10pm
certainly nothing wrong with being a little red in the neck - just making an observation

toggletoggle post by faggot at Jan 21,2008 4:44pm
Yeah I think it should also be observed that that guy is Shaune Kelley - guitarist and primary songwriter for Ripping Corpse and Dim Mak, making him an ultimate badass and cooler than everyone on this messageboard combined. Sayin'.

Rev, I admire you bro, but those BDM pictures are boring. Get up in there and take pictures from the trenches!

i was, but only got Ubdm songs before being kicked out.

who was that jocko fag in the pit who took his shirt off and thought he was tough because he was kinda built? I wanted to go take him out at the knee or something

Hahaha, Muscle Beach got knocked the fuck out by a spin kick!!

toggletoggle post by whateva at Jan 24,2008 5:22am
Don't let the hat fool you. Shaune Kelley from Hate Eternal is a brutal neck shredder. It was great to see him and Rutan together again. They were in Ripping Corpse together back in the day . Like Bread and Butter
