I wouldn't use this for recording a band in a room, I'm guessing that's what you mean. It has a cardioid polar pattern which means it picks up sounds predominantly from the front and not at all from the back. For recoding a band or even a group of people talking a mic with an omnidirectional polar pattern would be the best choice. The KSM44 does omni, but I don't know if it is out of your price range or not.

Reasons like this are why I am asking what you want to use the mic for. Some mics are phenominal for some things, but terrible at others. I use this mic all around and have good luck with it, but it does have it's strong and weak points. The low frequency cross overs take a lot of mud out of recordings too. Let me know what you are going to use it for and I will tell you if it is good or shitty, and if it is shitty I will recommend something else for you.
