New site? Maybe some day.

...For an 30 day tour, covering most of the country? Anyone have experience with this? |
renting is expeeeeeeeensive

unless someone has some inside info, if you're ready for a 30 day tour, you're ready to buy a van as a band. |
Mark Fucking Richards should know. |

There's a place across the street from Enterprise Rental on Route 9 in either Framingham or Natick (pretty much near the town lines), can't remember the name of it, but they have the best deals I've ever seen on renting a van. You can get a 16 passenger van for like $500 a week, which is fucking expensive still, but way cheaper than most places...especially since you don't have to pay for mileage; most places will charge like .19-.59 cents per mile that you drive, plus the rental fee. The only thing you have to pay for besides the rental fee at this place is the amount it costs you to fill the tank when you return it (or however much gas was in it when you got it). I really wish I could remember the name of the place, but it is directly across from the Enterprise Rental place, so that should help enough. |

Alex is a reliable, reasonable gent. Entertain this offer is my advice. |
who is this person anyone wanna fill me in? |
ill probably have to figure something out with my insurance company. |
I'm not going to get into the rent -vs- buy debate. It's all situational. I've crunched numbers, weighed risks and benefits many times over...renting it is. Thanks for the offer, but we're looking to rent from a national company. |

Then just be prepared: you're going to be paying mileage, and extra fees for taking it out of state. You'll also have to pay for extra insurance, and will be restricted to only one driver or have to pay even MORE.
You're looking at $600-1000 a week, over $3000 for your 30 day tour.
It'd be cheaper to rent Alex's van, and pay to throw AAA on it. With AAA+, they'll literally tow you to your next gig an entire state away. |
AVIS...all the way. Check into them. Not these other guys. |
We (horn of valere) rented a van for our tour with Kult ov Azazel and BloodStorm. We split ours with Bloodstorm so there were 7 of us in a full size cargo van. It was like $1300 for 3 weeks but we paid that off after like 4 shows with the guarantees we had...after that it was just gas. With merch and all that shit we didn't spend a dime of our own money... except for drugs. |

I know all of this, but the specifics vary greatly from company to company. I'm just trying to find out which is the best for this situation, without going to every national chain for a quote. I'll check out Avis, thanks! |
