the oppurtunist: their first show. The vocals were weak. I think it was the PA. Spacey sort of. not quiet anodyne loud/rocky, but not gsybe! this is the sort of music that is usually boring live, but awesome on CD.

i was listening to the gigantic brain split the other day contemplating whether to call the phone number on the umbrella liner notes.

glad to see ex-umbrella next to a band name

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Aug 1,2007 9:36pm
why are there soooooo many kids outside of a show and so few inside a show? is this a fish show or something?

toggletoggle post by brian_dc  at Aug 1,2007 9:44pm
that right there is a huge pet peeve of mine. when I go to shows I go to see the fucking show not waste money to hang outside a venue.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Aug 2,2007 12:02am
pictures in a few minutes

toggletoggle post by joey umbrella at Aug 2,2007 8:08am
ok so.... thanks brad, but that nomber has been disconnected. the new number for the umbrella record is 7742196480 haha but the show was like 6 kids inside 2935287450740785 outside. or like 20 whatev's. glad you came aaron, was fun hanging out. now send me those pics of the things. the housing things, wink wink, forward? raisedonfailure@netscape.net

how was Highhorse and Graf Orlock? I had to leave early.

toggletoggle post by juanlinz at Aug 2,2007 5:33pm
High Horse was so shitty, Graf Orlock was sick.

I thought The Bonus Army was so good, anybody else?

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Aug 2,2007 7:48pm
I have to finish my reviews. they are on my phone and the g+spacebar is being shitty.

How was Always and Forever? Any band that can understand the greatness of Luther Vandross is good in my book.

Always and forever
Each moment with you
Is just like a dream to me
That somehow came true, yeah

And I know tomorrow
Will still be the same
Cuz we got a life of love
That won't ever change and

[1] - Everyday love me your own special way
Melt all my heart away with a smile
Take time to tell me you really care
And we'll share tomorrow together
Ooh baby, I'll always love you forever

Ever, ever, ever
There'll always be sunshine
When I look at you
It's something I can't explain
Just the things that you do
If you get lonely
Call me and take
A second to give to me
That magic you make and

always and forever was really good actually. it was my first time seeing them and i was impressed. they have a good energy and they're definitely tight musically. i didn't feel bored with their set. they didn't draw much of a crowd though, i'm not sure why. i hope i can see them again sometime soon.

bonus army was great too, and i liked the songs that the last band played.. although i'm not sure who they were. a bunch of different people sang. you could tell there was a lot of heart.

They were singing bands by The Carrier. Their lead singer left early so a bunch of people took his place.

YO JOEY, get in touch with me at endtransmission@hotmail.com. I have a question about your show this sunday in RI (if it's still happening).

I wasn't joking. I knew they would be good just because of their band name. Anyone that names their band after a Teddy Pendergrass song will be even better.

our legs was sick, so fucking loud too.

I didn't proof read any of this.

high/horse: unfortunantely, their drummer took years to get from near RI to here. They totally held the show up a bit. 9 bands put a rush on the set times. He showed up about 10 minutes into their set time. Still awesome to see these dudes working together in a band again. the music seems like it's lacking something. They are looking for a baseplayer or a 2nd guitarist which will fill it out more. Joe plays mostly breakdown-ish stuff so a 2nd guitarist to make it a touch more interesting would probably be better than a bass. Since the drums were set up so quickly, they were falling apart for most of the set. in between most songs, bri had to read just everything.

our legs have become roots: long isis-y songs. Some screaming vocals, but usually the singer just stood there. My only complaint, like with isis, is that the songs were sort of repedative. the singer/guitar player from the first band was the drummer of this band.

Always & Forever: I'm used to seeing these guys with 100+ kids with their hands in the air. odd seeing them with like 13 kids. I should have been able to get awesome pictures. But FAILED.

comadre: a mixture of hardcore and dance-punk. Sort of like TTOS a bit in some places. they are always screaming at the floor and stuff like that. They had a song about a horse's ass a horse's ass a horse's ass. TTOS wouldn't sing about that. Sounded really fun and makes me want to heard CDs of their music. But I'll probably just hit the myspace. That's what kids are into these days, thre myspace.

graf orlock: tons of samples wrapping around each and every song. They were also very good. A lot of people in the audience knew all the samples. I was not one of them. The singer's plugs were made straight out of the trunks of trees. Jeepers. I wanted to pop them out and see the deflated tire tube that became of his ear.

hmmmm second guitar or bass, anyone? bueller?

toggletoggle post by the_taste_of_cigarettes  at Aug 4,2007 7:31am
we actually played with Comadre and GO the first time we were in Austin.

Fun Fact: Those two bands play together ALL THE FUCKING TIME and tour together constantly. No, for realz. They even have a band that is a mix of the two bands.

Rev,

What about Unrequited and The Bonus Army?
