I thought this had the potential to be super gay and not very funny but I laughed quite a bit throughout. Maybe I'm becoming less jaded and cynical.

fuck it, I recommend it. After watching every episode of Freaks and Geeks it's fun to watch Judd Apatow movies and see nearly every character from that show pop in.

I can't see this movie cause I would be the one saying really really loudly "WHY DOESNT SHE JUST GET AN ABORTION!?!"

they talk about it briefly. My guess is that because otherwise there wouldn't be a premise for a movie

just a theory

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Jun 4,2007 10:16pm
I think the premise for the movie is stupid and they should turn it into a 5minute short that is the video for a cannibal corpse song. EOS

Why don't you tell us how you really feel?

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Jun 4,2007 10:20pm

fantastic movie. not as funny as 40 year old virgin but I'm sure it'll catch up after repeat viewings. you look like robin williams' knuckle.

I'll probably rent it.

i thought this was an awesome movie. 40 year old virgin was definitely the better of the 2, but knocked up had a lot more small jokes tossed all over the place.

Exactly, I don't see how the movie would last more than 10 minutes...people have one night stand, the idiots don't use a condom, the next day she runs to the AIDS clinic, finds out she's knocked up, gets an abortion, the end.

toggletoggle post by HailAtWork at Jun 5,2007 1:07pm
This movie can't possibly show women in a favorable light either, considering she's dumb enough to have the kid in the movie right? what's the angle on that? entrapment? the old "if I'm knocked up he'll have to stay with me and get narried" right? Does one of them at least get herpes or crabs?

toggletoggle post by pam   at Jun 5,2007 1:37pm
I think it's pretty shitty to say that just because a woman doesn't want to have an abortion that she's casting an unfavorable light on women. I'm pretty sure she doesn't expect to get married and just tries to get to know the dude and see what happens.

The only upside I can see to this horrendous flick is the hotness of what's-her-face. I am assuming she shows nothing, though. Plus, I'm not sure I can get past the fact of how annoying she is in Grey's Anatomy. Then again, all the characters are fucking annoying in Grey's Anatomy.

or we could all just look at the movie as a MOVIE, not a legitimate demonstration of the process of how a woman chooses to have or not have a baby. this is not real life, this is a movie that was filmed based on the screenplay written for the movie. fucking christ.

Every woman who chooses not to have an abortion is a slave to oppressive American patriarchy and George Bush. Everyone's mother EVER was wrong.

and George Bush, and Dick Cheney, and George Bush.

Yes, every unplanned child should be aborted, therefore this movie is ridiculous. Right?

I got a C in a philosophy class once, I know how arguments work.

toggletoggle post by MarkFuckingRichards  at Jun 5,2007 3:00pm
every child should be aborted in real life, but in movies they can have as many kids as they want.

it doesn't fucking matter what anyone sees or doesn't see in a movie. people are going to do stupid things no matter what the consequences may be. if you want something like this to bitch about, watch some soap operas with a bunch of bored housewives.

also, think about the fact that there are plenty of women who are LOOKING to get pregnant all over the place, regardless of a father figure.

and in conclusion, why would someone watch this movie and then say, "this movie really makes me want to go out and knocked up by some stranger so i can put myself through living hell for up to 9 months trying to figure out if i want to keep the baby or not." have some fucking commong sense!

Blow me. My wife watches it and our house is very small. As much as I try to avoid it, I catch bits and pieces of the stupid show, enough to know that it sucks.

Alright, I admit it, McDreamy is haawwwt!

toggletoggle post by HailAtWork at Jun 5,2007 4:45pm
I have a low tolerance for stupid movies, so much so that I end up going to a theatre about once a year now, because the movies over the past 10-15 years have sucked so horribly for the most part. Why anyone woould pay $10 to sit thru this is beyond me. If anyone had common sense, they wouldn't look at the perview for this and go "wow, that looks great!".

toggletoggle post by xmikex at Jun 5,2007 4:46pm
There are a lot of theaters that show movies that don't cater to the Sarah Jessica Parker Demographic.

George Bush wants you to see this movie.

haha...I got free movie passes when the projector fritzed out during Hot Fuzz, which I loved. So when my roomates wanted to go see this movie I wasn't going to be a self-righteous prick and say, "oh I've heard this movie is stupid and it's kind of a weak premise" and just hang out by myself like a reject all day.

I went in with low expectations and enjoyed it. Damn, Hail, you're way over-excited about this.
