honestly, I'm going cause of all the locals a lot more than the headliners. macavre is funny (and they have excellent taste in women) but I'm not to much of a fan. especially not 500 miles and 8hrs driving worth.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Apr 21,2007 3:31pm
I missed the openning band. my GPS decided that I needed to go to some floodlands in Stillwater, NY on putnum rd.. luckily, that's only 11 miles from this place.

parking rules around here are bizarre. like "no parking tues, thurs, sat, sun starting at 8am"... or "no parking on sun, mon, easter, guy fox, starting at 8am". I ended up parking on a street which is obviously host to numerous old gay or really french people. after I got sick of fighting for parking spaces with old people. while walking to the joint, I realized that all the girls were walking around holding hands. I was told this is a college town or something. nothing like a town full of yuppies and dirty lesbians to scream "!!!SICK SHIT FEST!!!" in. I'm pretty sure they are unaware.

this venue's awsome now. they torn down the wall between the two rooms so that now it's more like one huge room with 2 stages up against the farthest wall.

it looks like macabre has their own dressing room. It's the same room (probably same couch) that all the pee incedents happened with anal cunt last year. speaking of.. there is only one bathroom and I gotta piss.

atlas dying: I ran in as they were starting up. The bassist was like 30ft from the guitarist on the other stage. I guess there is only one vocal mic on the bigger stage(?) so they just share. A lot of breakdowns at the beginning with some black-metal scream. I swear I heard some AILD at the beginning. There were a few sporadic clean singing parts spaced throughout which didn't sound very good in that room. I think they sort of just continued out into the pool hall and didn't echo back off anything. there were also sporadic melodic guitar parts (ala BDM).

buquacky: these guys were awesome. A lot of jazzy candiria switch ups. Instead of tha rappin' they had some talk singing (from the drummer). The main singer was a girl and sort of sounded like what the girl from undying sounded like on her first tour with the band. (I thought it was timmy porphyria's wife for a second). She looked like a librarian, but still some shit-bag from the audience sees a girl on stage and yells to see her tits. They played a song called "Everyone loves Ramon... Noodles" and it started off with part of a Nirvanna song. check them out on line and when their 5-song ep comes out.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Apr 21,2007 4:48pm
Brutal no. 2: these guys sure do love pillory. This is the second band on this stage (the "bigger" stage which is actually more like just the tollest stage as the lower stage may be bigger) where the vocals sounded terrible. I think it's the PA over on this side or something. One guitarist was on the second stage head banging and the other guitarist seemed planted to the ground on the first stage. I could see how these guys would be much better at some place like the skybar. they were sort of up away from people. sexcrement ran in during their set.

contempt: the singer looked like a littler version of vincent (acacia strain). The singer kept trying to get people to dance, but it only worked with one dude.. well, 2 by the end. hardcore.

ma dukes ran in during their set. I only got to talk with her for a second cause she couldn't find a babysitter and had to run off to her kid. I'm just going to guess she left him in the air with the window openned a crack so he could get air. that seems logical.

toggletoggle post by yummy at Apr 21,2007 5:17pm
logical to leave him in the air with the window openned a crack so he could get air. I know...ur at a show so it makes it tough to focus and what not.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Apr 21,2007 6:23pm
Ralph from um.. That band and now that 104.9 edge station.

praetre morte: long island deathmetal. I don't think I've ever been to long island before, but long island death metal means that your allowed to have short hair and like all out war... I think. Very breakdown laden. The singer attempted to get people to dance for them.. But like the past attempts in this room, nothing happened. funny when the entire crowd forms a horseshoe around then of people with cameras. Weird. This was the first time on the taller stage that the vocals sounded good. I think one of the speakers cut out or something. Staff people were climbing all around trying to fix it and I just wanted to say "stop it. Let it stay like that!"

poop: I remembered some of the songs from the last time I saw them. (last SSF). They played some new songs, but the lyrics are hilarious. The entire set, the singer tried to get the crowd to mosh. Finally, his siter went out there and then people started to dance. It's funny dancing when the band's music really isn't that dancable and when the lyrics are just calling you a faggot over and over again.

sons of mourning: sort of like arsis, sort of like ablaze my sorrow. Technical deathmetal with some melodic parts. Most of the crowd didn't seem to care that they were playing, but they were really tight.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Apr 21,2007 7:14pm
success will write apocalypse across the sky: this is one of the main reasons I came to this show. BIGOTA plus john from dehumanized. It's awesome death metal. SWWAATS had all sorts of van troubles on the way here and it took then a while to set up, but it was so worth it. Great to see people that I haven't seen for years still grinding it up like elvis. The drummer set up in front of the other drum set so the other members sort of circled his kit or were on the floor. Not too many people pitting it for them until the last song. The fact that john is from the area gave him lots of shout out ammunition, including myself, mucopus, and held under.

burial: the funniest line of the night was something like "this songs about screwing a girl in the eye. Unless you are gay, then I guess you could screw a dude in the eye." their set seemed a little short. I swear the singer pulls that vocal chords out of the bile in his stomach. it's like he vomiting in slow mow. that's probably why he sits down so much.

tentacles: this set was bearly legal. I hear that this band like to hide and sleep as long as they please. That's the way that tentacles has their big set. Hilarious, the singer came out in a huge teddy bear outfit. Probably one of the sweatiest ideas ever. Like they always do for this band, people circled in and danced on command. Bear puns aplenty. Did they get a new bassplayer? Word on the street is that the singer went home and found that some one ate all his poridge, his chair was broken, and someone was sleeping in his bed.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Apr 21,2007 8:10pm
without remorse: saw them here last year. There were a lot more dancing tough guys this time. Right at the start, someone pulled a mic stand off the stage and then tiny yelled at them. I snapped a few pictures and then booked it for a pack of gum and a drink.

Sexcrement: once they got a new head, the awesomeness and craziness that is a sexcrement show back home sticks here too. Lots of kids shoving everyone around, circle pits, reverse circle pits and people falling on the floor. It was rather a short set, but whatever. It still ruled. The only thing wrong during their set was the broken bottle. the second they finished, people turned and ran for the door. crack is a dirty dirty drug. everyone in the crowd thought they were great. everyone in the band thought their set was terrible.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Apr 21,2007 8:49pm
mucopus: absolutely hilariousnesoucity. They played as awesome as you would expect and brought out the games of summer. First it was badmitten and the shuttlecocks. Then frisbees... The frisbee ended up getting tossed across the room and hitting a girl in the eyes/face who was up front with the bouncers. I didn't see who threw it, but I watched it sail across the room and connect. Before their finally song, they brought out a slip n slide, covered it with beer and had people slide down it. Doing this (or anything) on wet grass? awesome. Doing this on a dry cement floor? not so awesome. The words "cheese" and "grater" come to mind. Also "road" and "rash". Doing this on a dry cement floor in the middle of a bunch of moshers while mucopus plays? Priceless. When they got off the stage, one of the bouncers got on stage and called out the person who threw the frisbees last... I doubt they stepped forward. hell, I wouldn't have. that dudes face was red.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Apr 21,2007 9:17pm
brick by brick: well, who's the one who guessed right? Oh yes, that's me. I guessed who the band was mostly cause they were older. I thought their CD was all death metal, but I forget. They played all hardcore songs. Sort of reminded me of biohazard. Lots of moshing it up for them and that weird upstate NYHC thing where they whistle a lot.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Apr 21,2007 9:45pm
ok, I will admit it.. I'm starting to get tired at this point. I'm starting to shoot just the first few songs and then sitting back.over 4 hrs of driving and then 7+ hrs of music and shooting with no food is wearing on me. I must be getting old. Damn.

wasteform: they got their original guitar player back and then added in a dude from some other band on bass and a drummer. This is as close to the original line up from when I saw them first that they have had almost since I first saw them. People danced constantly meaning for the entire set.

As much as I like recon.. I'm probably shooting a couple songs and then running for some sort of food.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Apr 21,2007 10:11pm
recon: I don't remember them being so tough or so much like since the flood. Isn't this the band who's CD has all those noisey samples on it? They were really tough and their fans were all huge and kicking everything. I think the kid who has been keeping the stages moving on time was the drummer.

I have no idea how 6+ bands are going to get through before 3am. 3am would put me at home at 7:30am.. Yeesh!

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Apr 22,2007 12:08am
waking the cadaver: I'm not sure why these guys are the backstreet boys, the beachboys, and the brady bunch's band all in one... At least in the myspace world, but they are pretty damn good. Music like this shouldn't be loved by the masses. the best part was BSV's comment "you think anal cunt's going to make fun of them for being wigggers?" of course AC made fun of wiggers, but not this band. I would definitely agree with the people who called this devourment light. It's lighter on the drums and riffs, but keeps the slams and vocals heavey. During their kast song, some kid stepped on the mic cables and I have to save the day and put them together. After the singer shoved the kid into the audience of course. I stand by my statement that if a lot of the haters listen to them without knowing who they were, they would like it.

25 ta life: I never did go get air or anything so this set was a little bit of a blur. I dropped my camera LCD protector and was looking around for it. I finally found it... Anyhow, they only got 4 songs and then they got cut off... But then rick whined and hearing seth say "do another song rick" was so surreal. Rick wanted to play crucified, but the crowd requested short fuse and short fuse it was. Then he whinned again and got a 6th song. When he took off his shirt, all I could think of was the one episode of prison break that I saw.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Apr 22,2007 12:10am
anal cunt: Ok, what's up with like all the members of AC coming in with women? The original line thing must be working for them with the ladies. I think that's why all the members were totally f'd up this late at night. People in the crowd spontaneously started sig heiling them. Not their fault. Maybe they knew the set list. It's the same one they've been playing for a while. Their set is just so good. All the hits plus 2 new ones and 2 vaginal jesus tracks. people chanted for more songs "if we play more macabre might kill us in one of their songs" but then they got 1 more song. and then said they were playing another one which was really really short. People were chanting for anal cunt during their last full song.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Apr 22,2007 12:26am
total_fucking_destruction: rushed, but awesome set none the less. The fast talking in between songs reminds me a lot of the descendents... Granted AC also did the same thing on a couple tracks. There was constant feedback through their entire set. Something with the monitors. Also, the guitarist came out and broke a string right away, but he played through none the less. Some dude with a heavey metal tattoo came out twice and sang with them. There is still (somehow) a sizable crowd here. I'm guessing the stacks and stacks of empty beer cases is to blame. Well that and the hope that macabre will bring the mosh. siq!

if you couldn't tell, at this point in the show, I'm pretty much just listing some random phrases possibly pertaining to the band's set or some obscure pop culture reference. I hope I makes sense to someone.

You know what was great about this band? The fact that UFC was on and I could watch that while they were playing. They were fighting with the sound guy and he actually cut them off, which is why you could barely hear their last song. They were doing it without the benefit of the house amps and p.a.

Did anybody else here talk to Corporate Death that night?

One of the stairs had apparently collapsed under him earlier in the evening, and he had caught himself with his hand, which wound up swelling up. If his hand had gotten broken they probably wouln'd have been able to play. That's why he didn't seem so enthusiastic that night, he was loaded up on beer and painkillers.

recon: I don't remember them being so tough or so much like since the flood.

Yeesh!

we dont have any samples at all on our cd
