OK, so my mother is battling cancer and is stuck in Mass General hospital in boston. She is sick and has been unable to pay the mortgage and the bank decided they have had enough. I was paying it for a bit, but I broke my knee and work under the table so there is no collecting involved.

The eviction began the other day. It can take from 6 weeks to 6 months to get booted. We unfortunately had our grandparents pass away so we got another house to go to. Here is the big question. They never served eviction papers for the apartment and probably will not realize anyone is living there until this eviction is done with. At that time they will have to start all over to evict from the apartment.

Now here is the poll question... Should I stay in the apartment just to be a royal pain in thier ass for them not understanding and not trying to work with a sick cancer patient, or should I just give up and go to the new place? If I do stay up there it would be cool to find a roomate so I am not bored all the time haha.

Is that the place you said you were moving to, anyway?

as much as staying to be a pain in the ass sounds good, i'd say just go to the new place rather than invite more headaches. it will be a pain in the ass for them regardless, but that will at least keep you clear.

It's great that we have such a great system and leadership here where there's no heathcare, and when you get really sick or lose your job the bank or government can just take your house and land away. We really care about each other here, it's good to know that our society values basic survival needs and quality of life for everyone over money. Fuck the bank, stay there as long as possible.

well if it's techincally your mom's house... you should probably ask her.. b/c if something bad comes of your staying.. it wont be you that bears the consequence, it will be her..

I was in the same exact boat as you a couple years ago, but they were a little more lenient due to the condition of my mother, but it could have been because I was under 18.

Do any minors live in the house? If so, they might take it easy on you if you call the right people and tell them what's going on.

You know, I'm not at all educated in what could be the legal results of you staying in the house until they officially boot you, but it sounds like there won't be any, so I completely support you being a pain in their ass for not being understanding. I voted stay.

No, really. You're in a situation that you really know next to nothing about. You've got enough trouble in your life. Do what the bank tells you to do, get out of there, and worry about your other problems. If you try to stick it to a bank, you're going to lose.

Wow, that almost sounded like someone giving solid advice. I would start getting some shit over to your grandparents house asap. You're going there eventually. Just try to be prepared in 6 weeks. It seems like you have enough to worry about as it is. If you get officially evicted you will lose your possessions to make up for debt. Good luck.

Josh man, I hope this shit works out for you. I'd say move into the new place and avoid fucking with the man because they'll fuck you in the end whether you're fucking back or not. Make shit simple on yourself and don't give them the satisfaction of oppressing someone who's fighting back, just turn away from them and move on dude. Hope things get better on all fronts dude.
