I don't think they'll be able to pull it off...

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Apr 2,2007 12:19pm
I'm more suprised that they think you will be able to pull it off.

toggletoggle post by Niccolai   at Apr 2,2007 12:22pm
There are already vocal and drum versions of guitar-hero type games, so it's not an un-doable concept.

toggletoggle post by SacreligionNLI at Apr 2,2007 12:22pm
youtube better invest in some more bandwidth

Right?!

I have been playing guitar for over 20 years, and I couldnt even play 'Shout at the devil' on Guitar Hero at Wal Mart.

toggletoggle post by DaveFromTheGrave  at Apr 2,2007 12:39pm
I can't even really play guitar, but whenever I see anyone playing guitar hero I think of how pointless it is compared to playing with an actual instrument and writing your own damn songs.

exactly... i'd much rather kill actual people and go on real car chases than play games like GTA.

kindof how tetris is pointless compared to laying bricks?

It's a video game for christs sake. It's meant to entertain, not turn teenage boys into hendrix

that's a bad example.

i was hoping that this game would spur an interest in playing real guitar for people who normally wouldnt pick up an instrument ...however i have seen no evidence of that happening. oh well.

Ok, well if you enjoy it, then have fun with it.

one step closer to me never having to drive to band practice

toggletoggle post by dreadkill  at Apr 2,2007 1:19pm
guitar hero sucks. it's nothing like playing actual guitar. instead of playing a stupid video game, people should go get a real instrument and learn how to play it.

My wife made the mistake of buying me Guitar Hero about 2 years ago. Then she got all offended when I never touched the thing. Why would I waste my time with that stupid thing? It's not like I'm good enough at guitar to not practice and play a useless game instead.

toggletoggle post by Niccolai   at Apr 2,2007 3:15pm
I think you guys are kindof missing the point.

It's a video game and is not in any way a replacement or sub for guitar, just entertaining.

It's like saying people shouldn't play DDR, they should go get real dance lessons, or people shouldn't play starfox, they should go participate in REAL air-to-air combat.

toggletoggle post by Archaeon at Apr 2,2007 3:17pm
starfox is badass

toggletoggle post by Niccolai   at Apr 2,2007 3:19pm
Psh, go fly a REAL combat aircraft, n00b.

toggletoggle post by pam   at Apr 2,2007 3:19pm
Nerds don't have friends...who else will play with them?

toggletoggle post by RichHorror  at Apr 2,2007 3:37pm

toggletoggle post by xanonymousx at Apr 2,2007 3:51pm
so its donkey konga/ the drum arcade game, guitar hero and karaoke revolution all put in together.

toggletoggle post by xmikex at Apr 2,2007 4:01pm
I used to goto Goodtimes with some friends once in a while, and there was a drum machine "game" there. There was this one guy who'd show up every single week with drumming gloves on, and a tank top like Lars in the One video. He'd drum along to Queen songs like he was playing in front of 20,000 people. And every time we went there, when he'd get up to get some water, or more tokens or whatever Lynchie would sit down at the machine and throw blast beats over Twisted Sister songs until it broke. The guy would come back and there'd be a a computer Error message on the screen, and he'd throw a fit.

toggletoggle post by dreadkill  at Apr 2,2007 5:17pm
xmikex has the best stories of anyone ever. that is a classic, especially the lars tank top part.

toggletoggle post by Dar  at Apr 2,2007 6:29pm
I love guitar hero
It has nothing to do with playing guitar, I just love videogames and it's a very innovative and fun one. Also I'm sure it has inspired plenty of kids to try to learn guitar, for better or for worse. This looks like they could be ruining it, though. That arcade story is hilarious too...i miss arcade "culture" haha

i believe i may have witnessed that once.
i used to go to goodtimes about twice a month.

HAH, i remember that game it was called Drumscape. there was one in the mall i frequented in high school and it was pretty awesome. I would play deftones songs like it was nobody's business.

toggletoggle post by mOe  at Apr 2,2007 9:25pm
That game will probably not be able to pull it off OR it will be awesome but cost like 300 bucks a unit. Come on, GH2 was like 90 bucks and it was a package with ONE guitar. Can you imagine some package with two guitars, a mic, and a Drum Kit setup. The Drum Kit part of it is what interests me the most, though. I'm sure it will be awful and nothing like playing an actualy kit, but what it will actually entail interests me anyway.

Is the drum section of Rock Hero as unlike real drum playing as Guitar Hero is to real guitar playing?

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Jun 8,2007 12:58am
probably, but it's like 6 months before it's out
