I just wanted to get a feel for peoples attitudes about 13 Winters. I've seen a thread here that got a bit rough. Rusted Angel, I see what you think. What about anyone else? |

I saw them a few months ago. They're very dry. It's like a magician who has a bag of tricks-- you've seen a rabbit being pulled out of a hat, and the woman being sawed in half a thousand times. It's just like that. I've seen people spit blood.. lights.. fog.. etc. The frontwoman is stiff as a board, and has no charisma. The whole band seem more inclined to cultivate their image rather than play decent music. Although, I will say that there's nobody else like them locally. The scene in Portland is practically devoid of anything subversive. They are that. |

excellent summary, couldn't have been put better, well besides, they just suck. i also agree that they are inclined to cultivate an image of coal chamber shirts, hot topic pants, and mullets.

Yeah, my recommendation is to avoid. A lineup change and/or dropping some of the gimmicks wouldn't hurt them at all. I've looked at their site, and the way they hype themselves is borderline hilarious. Hey, you could shine a turd all you want, but it's still a turd. |

what!? Portland has some great fucking bands, Conifer, Kurixis, Big Gay Alaska to name a few.
Conifer is one of the best bands the world has to offer.

I'd have to agree Reverend. And the venues we have don't bring metal acts. I did get to see Anno Daemonicus a few years ago at the Better End. In my opinion, the best Maine metal act I've seen. I wish they played out more. |

i agree that there are no venues in maine or nh. thats why people should come see shroud of bereavement with mortician on the 12th and on the 19th with ascendancy spider gates raiding kubrick and awaiting destiny!
i dont know of too many clubs in nh. but i was hopeing that the bombshelter would thrive through the metal bands that play there.
im thinking of booking an all ages show there too. but if these shows dont draw than we wont get more shows there. i like that place alot,thats why we keep booking there. everyone should go to at least one of them.

Are the Alehouse and Bubba's willing to book more extreme metal? Kevorkian's Angels played at Bubba's a while back, right? From what I heard, the Space doesn't book much other than indie rock. There's got to be some abandoned factory space or warehouses or something around Portland that people can set up DIY shows at. |

kevorkian's angels played bubba's and are going to be playing the ale house, and they are about as extreme as you can get.

So how's your band doing kevin? going on five years and still you're using the same old recordings that have roy on them. And you lost yet another vocalist?!?!
