Glendale, AZ extreme metal unit Job for a Cowboy has completed work on their highly anticipated full-length debut, entitled GENESIS. The fast-rising band, known for their punishing songs, explosive live performances and forward thinking vision, will release GENESIS on May 15 via Metal Blade Records.

Job for a Cowboy, who toured the world in 2006 in support of their wildly-popular, self-financed "Doom" EP, recorded Genesis at Blue Light Audio Media in Phoenix, AZ with producer Cory Spotts. The album was mixed by the Grammy winning Andy Sneap (Opeth, Entombed, Megadeth). Anticipation for Genesis is such that the band has already been named one of "Metal's Most Important Troops for 2007" by Metal Hammer, one of Total Guitar's "Hottest Guitar Bands of 2007", one of Alternative Press' 2007 "Bands You Need to Know" and one of Revolver's "Breakthrough Bands that will be Kicking Your Ass this Year".

On the topic of the new album, Job for a Cowboy guitarist Ravi Bhadriraju comments, "Genesis is a record that we as a band needed to fulfill. We wrote an album that we wanted to play live well into the distant future. If there is one word to describe our new record, it is "aggressive". We want this album to have a certain effect on the listener. I am happy with what we have achieved, and I hope our fans appreciate it too."

Vocalist Johnny Davy states, "We wrote the material that became the "Doom" EP at a very young age and the sound of this upcoming record is a much different one than anything we've done before. We're anxious for its release and we hope everyone who hears it will enjoy."

“Genesis” track listing:
1. Bearing the Serpent's Lamb
2. Reduced to Mere Filth
3. Altered from Catechization
4. Upheaval
5. Embedded
6. Strings of Hypocrisy
7. Martyrdom Unsealed
8. Blasphemy
9. The Divine Falsehood
10. Coalescing Prophecy
he brand new JFAC song "Embedded", as well as a sneak peak at the Genesis cover artwork can be found on the band's MySpace page: www.myspace.com/jobforacowboy. The striking album cover has also been posted at the Metal Blade Records online domains: www.metalblade.com, www.myspace.com/metalbladerecords and www.metalblade.de.

Job for a Cowboy is currently on tour alongside Despised Icon. A full listing of upcoming JFAC tour dates follows this message. In addition to Bhadriraju and Davy, Job for a Cowboy features Bobby Thompson (guitar), Brent Riggs (bass) and drummer Jon "The Charn" Rice.

Updated Job for a Cowboy news and tour information will be made available via the JFAC web domains: www.jfacmetal.com and http://www.myspace.com/jobforacowboy

BTW, like the humpy things Rev^

toggletoggle post by Nash nli at May 4,2007 8:59pm
It's simple, some people hate them because of their name and their myspace popularity. I myself avoided this band because of the name, but it's not bad at all.

toggletoggle post by theaccurseddrummer  at May 5,2007 12:21am
I've heard the entire new album, and it's definitely a lot deeper into the more extreme metal/death metal foray than either their demo or the Doom EP. I don't think I heard the piggy vocals once, which I'm cool with. They're certainly one of those bands that you're glad the CD is short because it can get old quick, but for what style they've chosen, they do it well. I would take them over As I Lay Dying or Trivium any day of the week. Much more brutal and to the point, no frills.

toggletoggle post by xanonymousx at May 5,2007 9:24am

toggletoggle post by cav at May 5,2007 10:22am
when i first heard doom i thought it was good. it was kind of a novelty with all the bree vocals which werent overdone and played out at the time. then every band under the sun started copying jfac and everyone started to hate them. then they decided to abandon the bree vocal thing and write some good death metal. they are also a solid live band and killed mostly all the bands that headlined metalfest this year. i agree that they arent worth the hype but whatever maybe your death metal band will get some attention now that its in the mainstream. and if not now then definitely by this summer when behemoth and nile play ozzfest. GET INTO IT SCENESTERS!!

toggletoggle post by ConquerTheBaphomet  at May 5,2007 10:34am
It took me a while to get into JFAC when I heard Doom because their drummer on the EP was crappy. But after a while they grew on me. I still haven't seen them but I wouldn't mind. I'm definitely looking forward to the album.

I agree, this band is not death metal, its more like "brokebackcore". quality death metal has come and gone for the most part.

they really bother me. their first album is paper-thin myspace-core, and it sucks. so they found out that people felt that way, and made a deeper wannabe death metal, and people started saying "wow, they really came around this time". no they didnt, they did what was easiest, it just became better sounding paper-thin garbage.

toggletoggle post by SteveOTB   at May 7,2007 10:43am
I've started listening to it and I had some higher hopes for it but over all I feel it's a mediocre release and I'm only 8 tracks in. No tracks have stood out more than another, feeling too linier at the moment. Maybe if I give it a few more listens but so far nothing has may me say "that's awesome". I miss what made the Doom EP so great which includes pig vocals and bass bombs. None thus far. Granted it was generic for me to make that statment but isn't one of the reasons why we liked having that cd in our players is because of those 2 elements?

toggletoggle post by immortal13 at May 7,2007 10:46am
They're new stuff already sounds so much better. I like bree's and all once in a while, but I think they're starting to be very overdone in the deathcore genre. Just listen to Despised Icons "Consumed By Your Poison" cd. Awesome music, but brees are overdone to the point where I wanna kick field goals with babies.

toggletoggle post by cav at May 7,2007 11:11am
consumed by your posion is a rerelease of an older album that came out long before brees were played out. i bet their new cd has almost no piggies.

toggletoggle post by brian_dc  at May 7,2007 11:16am
Cav, new Despised Icon has plenty of bree.

toggletoggle post by immortal13 at May 7,2007 11:22am
I know Consumed by your Poison is a re-release of an old one, but it shows how much they're overdone and that everyone is doing them now.

The new one has plenty of brees to make any bree-head happy. I personally think it's their best one yet.

toggletoggle post by Yeti at May 7,2007 12:39pm
there are few bands i like that do the "bree" thing properly. there is straight "breeing" like these guys, or that weird pig like sound like the guy from Exhumed. "bree" is gay, but Exhumed pig like sound is awesome.

toggletoggle post by SW at May 7,2007 10:52pm
the bree started when young kids tried to emulate people like Frank Mullen from Suffocation but couldn't go that deep/low so they offered a shitty fake low which was very hollow and eventually that was emulated and evolved into the bree. it is mostly younger kids who haven't ripped up their throats enough to really have a ballsy gutteral. i recommend gargling WD-40 and gravel.

I saw Job for a cowboy when they played with Animosity, Cattle Decap, and FASSW, and they had less intensity than most of the shitty local bands around here. Their live sound was really bad and they couldn't play their "technical parts" for shit. One of their new songs, embedded, sounds like it steals drum parts from Decapitated's "Nihility." They're just another fad band like As Blood Runs Black or August burns Red. Everyone will forget them in a few weeks.

toggletoggle post by the_rooster  at May 8,2007 2:30pm

Yea that's an amazing album and I don't get it when people say they didn't like it after hearing the first album. I think the new one is just an extension of the first one in terms of production quality and sound. They do have more hardcore influence in it but everything is a bit faster.
