the shows there get out around 10 pm d00der. so if you show up late then you may not get in. brave the black dahlia murder/ suicide silence fusion for the entire 3 songs they are going to play.

I try so hard to be careful. in the past I wasn't. I even try to look at the eyes of the people around me to make sure they aren't looking at the flash.

one of the worst experiences for me was when I thought the zoom head went on my sb-80dx so I was 1/2 pushing down the shutter and looking to see if the flash head was moving.. BANG right in the eyes at about 6inches. the band starts up and I start shooting. when I looked down at the pictures, they were all green and black, like the old apple monitors. I thought my camera was broken until I realized that EVERYTHING in the center of my view was oonly green and black. oi vey!

As refernced here http://returntothepit.com/view.php?formid=39766 Nate will be stepping down from bass duties for the_Network. This will be one of the last shows (if not the last show) that will be played with Nate behind the bass....come out and give Nate the farwell he deserves!!!
The new bass player will be announced as soon as we figure what we are going to do....those are some big shows to fill.

Any help would be greatly appreciated because I can't stand the idea of The Red Chord and Psyopus playing in my home state and me not being there.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Mar 23,2007 7:46pm
this show must be awesome for the town. the kids have something to do for once.

pregnancy scare: they were missing a guitarist and they weren't playing like they "usually do". At least that's what it get from what they said on stage. I honestly didn't listen to the myspace and I think that if I had, I wouldn't have recognized anything. The sound for them was sort of a sludgey mush. The crappy sound had something to do with the fact that all the people hung back. Way way back. That meant a huge teenage lump of echo dampaning angst was like 40' back from the band. Two people started dancing in the open circle. But by that point, they were ovah.

shot down sun: immediately when they started, 30 DSLRs popped up in the front of the stage. This must have been the gift of the year ( I forsee a lot of b/w photos taken of lawn chairs showing upon flickr) this past xmas. Along with all the photographers, there were moshodiles moshing it up and singalongers sang along. With in two second of being up front, I got my thumb moshed. How dumb of me. I need to do more thumb moshing moves at home so I can perfect them at the shows. Anyhow, with all the peple close to the stage, the sound was a lot better. It's odd to think that these youngsters are signed to such and old and venerable label. But some how they did it.

network, the: great balance of craziness and awesomeness. they went ape-brains on the stage, but (besides the interruption that left only scott and tim playing and everyone else scrambling to fix things) they kept it together 100%. I admit, I've been listening to the CD a lot so I find myself singing along more and more with the spazmodic craziness that is their live set. they turned the house lights down low and used some red or orange lights in the back (rumored to have caught something on fire!). I tried my hardest not to flash you guys in the eyes and blind. I'm sorry if I did. their last song had someone come out on the spare mic. I'm not sure who these people are. but they joined up with Scott. Scott's voice sounded exceptional at this show. it's been sounding kind of thinner lately (DBH), but something about this set put the bottom back in his vocals.

psyopus: the new and improved arpman played the hits from the 70's that the crowd was yelling for. For their sound check chris and john played a long instrumental. These two play REALLY well with each other and I'm sure could have and do jam out for hours and hours. Anyhow, put a guitar in that chris's hands and he just won't stop playing. ever. he is a machine. it's like he's got guitar ADHD. he'll play an entire set and still try to show you things, not wanting to put the guitar down. Their set was awesome. seeing kids getting into the new CD is a great sign that this band is well loved. Adam popped a blood vessel and bled everywhere during their set. no sock on the mic this time (oh hi blood born parasites). it took me a while, but I finally got over to the side with fred on it. if I never said this before, fred is the sole bass player that got me to pay heed to bassplayers. up until then, I just let them drift to the background noise. he brought that instrument to the foreground with the way he plays.

red chord, the: it's awsome that this show does so well in the middle of this bumpkin town. All these "small" TRC shows are nothing but good. I remember back when they played all the time at tiny places. Let the good times roll buddies! Stage left power went out for a bit. a song or so only had brad, gunface, and guy. the rest jumped up on things like monkeys or tried to fix the power. great set. people jumped around and mr fay was there. this is one of his last shows with the band. he was up on the speakers a lot. So why is john fay still in the band? the reason is simple, they are recording a new CD. that's where they are off to after this show. basically they are off to NJ to lay down a new CD before they play any more shows. it seems like clients just came out and they are already going off to do another album. I'm betting they got a lot of material at the kareoke bar in nashua during some downztime.. er.. downtime. They played 2 songs during their set that were brand new joins for y'all.

toggletoggle post by the_Network_booking   at Mar 24,2007 11:13am
I can't beleive this show happened in Sandown, NH...SO many people, no fights (that I know of) and no arrests even though this place was literally right next to a police station.

Myself and Tim were saying the same thing "Fred slay's that 5 fingered bass twanger". Psyopus is the definition of tech!

toggletoggle post by jebus_crispex   at Mar 24,2007 12:14pm
What was the Psyopus setlist?

toggletoggle post by Jon The Brutal at Mar 24,2007 12:47pm
Whore Meet Liar
Scissor Fuck Paper Doll
The White Light
Our Puzzling Encounters Considered
Insects
(Most of) Kill Us
Play Some Skynyrd
Bones To Dust

I think in that order.

Chris and I played most of Imogen's Puzzle 2 while freddy was getting set up.

Psyopus was fucking incredible. I was expecting to go there (yes see an amazing band) but also to see a giant floor board of pedals and I got the complete opposite of that. I can't believe the sounds that guy can make come out of his guitar with no effects. Blows my mind.

Yes the secret track on Ideals of Reference is probably the most annoying thing I've ever heard.

toggletoggle post by Jon The Brutal at Mar 27,2007 11:25am
Unfortunatly we all need work on that one. Chris and I went over it in three sections last night doing each ten times or more. All after I just got off a ten hour bus ride and had to set up my drums. That's what being in psyopus is all about. That's funny that he said it was because of me though. What a dick. Even though he can get through it better than me, for the most part, I still know it.

toggletoggle post by iamnotkennyg   at Mar 27,2007 11:43am
haha well i think he meant it sorta half-jokingly.. you guys put on a great show though and it was cool chillin with Adam afterward. def looking forward to seeing you guys at metalfest.. you guys won't play anomaly..you wont do it

toggletoggle post by Jon The Brutal at Mar 29,2007 2:26am
I was actually just listening to anomaly today and thinking about how we need to play that one. That and mork and mindy. My two favs from that album, but we barely have time to practice the songs from the new album (i.e. kill us and imogen's 2) that we are a wee bit rusty on so we can play those on tour. Fun stuff.
