"Okay, so here is the deal: There was an incident at the Lawrence Knights of Columbus recently that involved a stabbing and a shooting, which ultimately led to all functions at the venue being cancelled due to the city of Lawrence. This presents a huge problem. However, we were able to secure the Roller Kingdom in Hudson, MA for the show on Friday. We are so sorry that this shit keeps happening, but once again it is out of our hands and it is due to a series of unfortunate events that we cannot control. So, we need everyone to spread the word to all their friends and anyone they know who was going to the show that it is still on this Friday February 2nd, but is now being held at the Roller Kingdom in Hudson, MA.

Once again we are really sorry to anyone who this inconveniences and we are just as upset as you are about the way this turned out, but we assure you that this show is STILL HAPPENING, all bands will be there, there will be NO MORE venue or date changes, it WILL be fun and Guns Up! will go out with a bang (no pun intended), we assure you. the Roller Kingdom isnt too bad. the PA can get kind of drowned out, but the sound isnt terrible. also there is usually a pretty good turnout there.

toggletoggle post by anonymous at Jan 30,2007 3:39pm

There was an incident at the Lawrence Knights of Columbus a few days ago that involved a stabbing and a shooting which ultimately led to the closing of the club. This presents a huge problem. However, we were able to secure the Roller Kingdom in Hudson, MA for the show on Friday. We are so sorry that this shit keeps happening, but once again it is out of our hands and it is due to an series of unfortunate events that we cannot control. So, we need everyone to spread the word to all their friends and anyone they know who was going to the show that it is still on Friday February 2nd, but is now being held at the Hudson Roller Kingdom. THIS IS A HUGE VENUE! EVERYONE WILL GET IN!

5 Highland Park Avenue
Hudson, MA 01749

Show starts @ 7:00. We have no idea how much it's going to cost. Somewhere around $10.

To the best of our knowledge, there's no commuter rail that goes to Hudson.

The shooting and stabbing didn't happen at a show. I think it was just a private party at the club. Spaniards get crazy up here in lawtown. Shooting someone is just another way of saying hello.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Feb 2,2007 9:47pm
resist: a band featuring dave STF and Josh hynes? awesome. This started the night off right with people jumping off the stage for their entire set. The security (ed and chris) were trying to keep people off the speakers, but it seemed hard. People kept wanting to slam into them. The band was really good, but I missed every single one of the jumps that the 2 notorious jumpers in this band did.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Feb 3,2007 4:50pm
I've already made my feelingd on that subject extremely clear.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Feb 3,2007 4:54pm
harder the fight: the night, stage, and crowd just got more crazy. Tons of MV kids were in the crowd, mostly singing along on what may be the last HTF set you ever see. I know that they have a lot of awesome riffs, but I couldn't hear them.. Well.. Except for one song. in the middle of their set, matt lacasse rolled out on stage and was promptly sat on by the singer. Legend has it, Matt learned this move in 1982 while on tour with whitesnake. I believe the true fact is that he learned this after hitting level 49 in world of warcraft.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Feb 3,2007 5:06pm

shipwreck: damn it, brian DB4D mentioned that they sounded like integrity. That was all I could hear during their set. they started off with a huge intro story and kids were already moving. There wasn't even any music yet. This was the first band I looked down and saw an muslim-looking Colin of Arabia in the pit. Also, there was one fight on the floor and then one song later, someone hit the floor and stopped moving. I hope they are alright. The stage was getting really hard to work on during their set. You had so many people up there taking pictures and video taping. The pictures are all looking terrible like hell fest 2004. Shipwreck aren't a really loud or really fast band, but like integrity, kids just go crazy for them. their new stuff is a lot different, but no one in the crowd seemed to care. to them, shipwreck can do no wrong.

toggletoggle post by anonymous at Feb 3,2007 5:06pm
are you only doing one review rev? it was so fast paced i think i need to read some reviews.

toggletoggle post by anonymous at Feb 3,2007 5:07pm
oh nevermind thanks bunches.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Feb 3,2007 5:17pm
verse: honestly, I haven't heard anything about/from these dudes for years. I kind of expected people to just hang back. I was saddly mistaken. Kids went over board for them too. And of course, the stage got more packed. on one side of the stage, it was just a constant flow of kids from the crowd, over my shoulder. I felt like I was at the beach getting pummeled by waves. I only saw these guys once before, but I don't remember them getting such a great reaction. The singer kept giving speeches about guns up! And unity. Some of them sounded like the goonies speech when mikey says "Their time! Up there! Down here, it's our time. It's our time down here.." oh yeah, the blonde hair reminded me of MV circa 93-95... I swore I saw dave scrodd for a second.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Feb 3,2007 5:30pm
have heart: ok, always carry extra batteries on stage with you. I had to get off the stage and change them. It was wicked hard to get back up on the stage after. There was a layer of people watching them, then a layer of camera'd persons. Then a layer of stage potatoes. And finally the band. They weren't given much room. I moved over to get shots from the other side of the stage and got punched in the eye by a stagediver. I'm so tuff. I forgot to count how many mic chords the show went through.. I think it was 2 up until HH. Well, HH went through 2 as well. Even with that, the mic was cutting out most of the set. When ever the singer would try to talk, you would hear like a 3rd of what he said. Honestly, when the music was playing, I mostly couldn't hear if the mic was working or not. I had waaaay to many boys and girls screaming in my ears to even hear the vocals.. A few times the mic went into the crowd and you would hear nothing even though people looked like they were screaming. Out of all the bands, I think this is the only one I was send a CD of.they had a bunch of guests, but I forget who they were. did dan come out of a song?

guns up!: like I said on the main page, what a way to go out. Standing in front of 1200+ kids, all of whom are fighting with each other to get to the mic, it's like being on top of the world. Granted shooting on stage was at its hieght of difficulty during their set, but I put my camera over people's heads to snap what I was missing. Josh Hynes was the regulator on stage and kept shoving people away from the equipment. at certain point people were moshing across the stage. With only a couple of feet to work with. The very end of the set was anti-climatic. The band just stopped and then everyone paused (waiting for the next song). When they all accepted that there weren't none more, people started clapping and somberly walking towards either the band or for the door. Lots of hug.

FOR ANYONE WHO WANTS VIDEOS FROM THIS SHOW HERE:
http://www.youtube.com/profile_videos?user=cocolash

and a 40 minute collection from all bands put together which I like personally the most:

and watching these, its amazing to see from the outside that I was actually apart of this that night, this was truly a spectacle of a show. i will miss this band a lot.
