It's the other contender for superpower, and when the West decays, it always attracts Asian attackers. Besides, the Asiatics are the only ones likely to be able to mount an attack. The Middle East is too fanatical, and Africa lacks boat technology.

why would china attack us? the usa will still be powerful and valuable as a trade partner.

Because there can only be one superpower, and they've wanted to do it for generations.

As long as we get our build order worked out ahead of time and they don't zerg-rush us, we should be fine.
