Who Killed The Red Baron : sparky's, the famous WUNH DJ and host of most nights at the DBH, band. It's just 5 people with piles of gear, a standup bass, a normal bass, electronic drums, a few other drums and tons of fx pedals. Everything was DI'd and there wasmaybe on cab on the stage that I saw. They first song the played was the coolest. The electronic drum kit stood out too much. I think either turning up the reverb or turning down the compression fall off would do wonders. The first song had the stand up bass thinger sounding more like gsybe! They cranked up the smoke machines during their set. With all the beaming lights cutting through the fog, it looked like solid tubes floating in the air.
ramp to masada: part shaniqua plus tim simpson. Very short set. They played 4-5 songs and then broke into satsf songs. For most of the "new" song, tim's mic wasn't doing anything. Sure he was standing there, screaming in his earth crisis hoodie, but nothing was coming out of the PA. When I was out side, I heard a few seconds from the street. I couldn't figure out what this thing that just kept cutting in and out was. It was tims vocals.
[band=MJ-XII]: jesus, santa was good to someone. either jonathan's stopped doing expensive drugs or he's upped his charges for "around the world". He's got a super sweet keyboard set up now. (2 analogs, the 3rd is possibly an analog too. That oberheim rules. makes me understand why jonathan stopped focusing on singing in birthrites and started just playing keys). This band features kyle (ex-pfap), jonathan birthrites, and tim lang. In the 7 or 8 years that I've known tim, I don't think I've ever see him play outside of his bedroom. These guys rule. even though there are only 3 guys on stage, don't let it fool you. The music is a mix between video game themes, themes from 70's TVshows&movies, space rock, and progressive metal. The guitar and vintage keyboards play perfectly together, harmonizing one second, then building up to a triumphant cresendo before breaking their stride and rocking out. I kept thinking back to how amazing dysrhythmia was the first time I saw them. Same thing here. People in boston who aren't retards should book this band.
joe/rich: even though they will probably fall to the aviary 9-month curse, get them too play doom&grind fest... If they are still together at that point.
the_taste_of_silver: they were late. Hopefully all of MJ-XII's friends don't leave. It's rowan's fault. he was too busy being the "dude" to a bunch of sorority sisters. I was going to say that I felt sorry for them, playing after the local band. Then I was going to say that I felt sorry for them playing on the floor. I should know better by now. Somehow, they had it all figured out. With a simple "dover we miss you!" they kicked into a set that rivaled in quality to any of the aviary shows that they played. Everyone in the crowd stayed for them (and a lot sang along too). Good way to end a show. After a summer spent touring, this was their reunion back to a family they used to play to all the time. Bro-on.

Great Show. Thetasteofsilver killed it.new songs crush.
why is the quality on the last few TTOS pictures so different than the ones before it? Did the camera's card get full or somethin'? They look fuzzy or lower res
well, I played with a few things.
some b/w and then the wide angle ones at the end are from a new camera I got. it's a constant fight with noise on that thing.
This combination of settings and lenses is fucking sick. It's so vivid and clear.
2.
This is also really clear and great contrast
3.
This is a good shot but the noise is somewhat intense
4.
Great shot, gnarly angle, TONS of noise
5.
this is a really cool shot. Great pic of me. But it feels really low rest, like how the pipes in the ceiling are all choppy and Johnny's belt is spotty and stuff.
This was a great fucking show. But I was unhappy with our sound.I couldn't hear the guitar for shit and I just found out about the mic issue.Oh well I hope people like ramp to masada.PS,that was the last time you will ever hear SATSF songs live.
