Ulver's most abrasive piece of work! The guitars are absolutely abrasive and over the top! Pure Timeless Holocaust!!!! Get on your knees you fucks and worship!!!!!

This is a great album.

Heil.
not to get off track, when I think of this album I always think of Encrimson'd - Agarian Menace.

I have the poster in my living room.

toggletoggle post by Ryan_M at Sep 26,2006 1:11am
Is this the one they recorded in the woods?

toggletoggle post by AUTOPSY_666   at Sep 26,2006 1:13am
That was the rumor.

toggletoggle post by Ryan_M at Sep 26,2006 1:24am
I had a feeling it might have been a rumor - I don't know how they'd get an electric guitar to work out in the middle of the woods...

really long extension cords. don't forget "in the middle of the woods" could be in someones backyard or just off the tail end of their property

toggletoggle post by CaptainCleanoff at Sep 26,2006 8:28am
Maybe they had a generator?

toggletoggle post by Troll at Sep 26,2006 9:04pm
They recorded in a cabin. Cabins have electricity. Don't worry it wasn't some magical black metal necrocicity.

I've heard it was recorded in a castle too. haha.

I think I like Bergtatt better though!

toggletoggle post by dreadkill  at Sep 26,2006 10:32pm

I wonder if it was the same castle Willy Roussel's mom owned.

An amazing album, if only Ulver still made music like that.

Somewhat agreed, although Ulver is still a very good band for what they're doing now.

toggletoggle post by dreadkill  at Sep 27,2006 9:55am
i like what ulver became

toggletoggle post by paganmegan   at Sep 27,2006 9:56am
It is a great album. Ulver are among the most creative out htere

toggletoggle post by mike burns at Sep 27,2006 4:28pm
normally i like more technical music but ulver is amazing in their simplicity. Bergtatt and Kveldssanger are the shit. I don't dig their new stuff as much as their metal stuff but they certainly aren't running low on ideas.

Obvious troll. Only sped dropouts like Ulver.

I think Nattens is amazing, though I prefer the William Blake discs overall. I've always found the lyrics to be so important to this one, reading while listening makes it even better.

I seriously doubt it was recorded in the woods, that was probably just a rumor to appease the gullible. I'm more partial to the rumor that they spent their recording budget on a nice new car and clothes, and recorded the record for free without caring much how it sounded. Ironic, how that neglect could produce such a timeless and important record, and it gives it that much more character.

anyone hear the remaster? there's something to be said for the original in terms of it being, as others said, the most abrasive listen, but the remaster is interesting for comparison sake as well.

remaster is easier on my tinnitus. the original sounds like what I hear when trying to fall asleep at night without a fan or radio on.
