so i heard the technical jazz metal band cynic will be doing a reunion. any more info? i heard only two members from Focus will be appearing. Jason Gobel is no longer involved in music and that girl Dana Cosley works at some kind of corp. Sean Malone is well, not really a metalhead and probably is busy with teaching and recording...

man i think it would be cool if Atheist, Pestilence, Believer, Red Tide, Candiria all do a show. Not a huge tech metal head but from time to time i love listening to it. Cynic really was a cool band and seeing them on the Corpse tour back in 94 hadley, mass was amazing. Even when people made fun of them and booed i didn't care. cool guys also.

cynic reunion! shit!

toggletoggle post by Anti-Racism  at Sep 25,2006 2:10pm
Cynic re-established the role of homosexual liberals in metal and brought sensitivity to a genre overflowing with hatred, sexism and anti-Semitism.

I'd love to see a Cynic reunion too but I doubt is gonna happen, Paul Masdival and Sean Reinert formed Cynic in 1987, ironically both of these pioneering tech death metal musicians have ended up in a sensitive pop band named Ĉon Spoke laced with delicate guitars and Masvidal's soft croon, check 'em out at www.myspace.com/aeon spoke and after

hell yeah they were awesome! i saw them with believer and i think cannibal corpse in ri in 93 or 94

toggletoggle post by techmet at Sep 25,2006 3:46pm
i've seen believer a few times back in 1994 at this place called The Boiler Room in NewBrit, CT. tiny club and packed wall to wall. believer was a really cool band. "STOP THE MADNESS!" awesome song.

toggletoggle post by Anthony nli at Sep 25,2006 4:23pm
Believer ruled. I prefer the second album 'Sanity Obscure' to Dimensions though. Dimensions is often a little too weird for me, although it does have alot of good music on it.

toggletoggle post by dyingmuse   at Sep 25,2006 4:27pm
I loved the symphonic one with violins and shit, that was bad assed!

toggletoggle post by Anthony nli at Sep 25,2006 4:33pm
There was one song like that on Sanity Obscure and alot of stuff like that on Dimensions.

toggletoggle post by Anti-Racism  at Sep 25,2006 5:13pm
Believer are a Christian band, and Christianity is racist and anti-Semitic.

toggletoggle post by techmet at Sep 26,2006 2:36pm
the song was probably "stop the madness"

line by line! i watch you die! to blind to see! your shattered dreams!

who cares if believer is christian, when i went to see them at the boiler room you know how many kids were wearing deicide and south of heaven shirts! like they cared!

toggletoggle post by techmet at Sep 26,2006 2:38pm
the first believer album Extraction From Mortality was a really good one also. hint of slayer and gang vocals and odd chords. dimensions kinda went over my head and ended the band's career

toggletoggle post by Anthony nli at Sep 26,2006 3:46pm
I need to check out Extraction from Mortality, thats sounds really cool.

toggletoggle post by dyingmuse   at Sep 26,2006 3:54pm

you can still obtain extraction from mortality on say Limewire and a few russian mp3 sites have that album available for download at a mere $45cents or something. i have it on my iPod and love it. I remember the day i bought it on tape when i was in 6 grade! sure the recording is a tad dated but the actual riffs and stuff is pretty killer. Sanity Obscure you can still get also on CD actually as it was repressed w/o permission from the original band members or something. but since bands don't own the rights to their songs, well...

dimensions again can be had on CD or limewire/p2p. but i feel this CD was the strangest. wasn't the best, not knocking their musicianship but it just didn't flow good.

I picked up Sanity Obscure from a used CD store like 5 years ago. Dimensions I just downloaded. I'm sure someone on Soulseek will have Extraction from Mortality.

toggletoggle post by techmet at Sep 27,2006 12:11pm
SORRY for the triple post, no idea what happened!

i highly suggest Extraction, its really cool and i sometimes think of it as a true classic thrash album. maybe i can get it up on soulseek...

but i pray Cynic does a reunion even with new members, i think that would be sick!

toggletoggle post by nekrotisk   at Sep 27,2006 2:16pm
Cynic is fucking awesome! Hopefully this goes down as rumored.

toggletoggle post by Anthony at Sep 27,2006 2:36pm
I want the pre-Focus Cynic lineup to reform. I like their demos better than that album.

toggletoggle post by techmet at Sep 27,2006 4:13pm
yes i have both demo tapes from back in the tape trading days. They were more of a thrash/death band back then. But the riffs were still good. That guy from Atheist did guest vocals on one of the demo songs. i remember that was a big deal. I use to have a bootleg 1991 Cynic demo tape but i lost it. I paid $3 for it and it came on a blank tape. Someone printed a black cover for it and it just said Cynic 1991 demo. It wasn't from the band so i bet someone made some extra loot on those tapes back in the day.
