Cool. Whatever happened to that dude Phil - is he still involved with Notcommon? I booked his black metal band once a long time ago.
that ended a few years ago. what was his band?
His band was called Cruelty Divine. I booked them on a basement show in 2002 with Random Acts of Violence, Ravage, Cryptic Warning and Strangled With a Halo (Matt from Proteus' first band, if you remember them).
It was a funny show. It was actually in a church basement in Roslindale. The wall behind where the bands played had a bunch of really cutesy Winnie the Pooh decals and Cruelty Divine were all in their knee high gauntlets and corpse paint, etc. I really hope pictures of that exist somewhere.
i'm assuming the embalmer/internal suffering/heinous killings show is no longer going on in NYC the same night, so i will be at this show. if i miss dismember i'll probably pee my pants on purpose.
yep. when sexcrement played there with suffocation, i went to just get a camera adaptor cable from my car parked literally 3 feet from the door and the door guy gave me shit for 15 minutes, even though i was in a band. i avoid going there at all costs.
Although Grave ripped last night,I wont be at this show.If they were headlining I would go, but I was disapointed with Dismember last night.Their singer has absolutely no stage presence.Their music is allright though. What the fuck is up with the local bands bringing their friends then leaving after their done playing?

Probably becase they are all either friends of the local bands who attend out of obligation and couldn't care less about the music, or they are newbie poseurs who do not realize the significance of bands we've enjoyed for over a decade.
I don't remember who else was going to be on it, but I remember if Vader/Destruction did well enough, he was getting Bolt Thrower. And he told me when Defcon 4 played the Lily Pad that the show did well enough and he was for sure bringing them to the ME.

Hopefully Vital Remains will not walk out from the show just like they did from Marks Place, someone in the band is being a greedy motherfucker

RIGHT ON!! Its always cool to see a lady who likes old school death metal
Are there any RTTP members that can confirm the VItal walkout over money? Every post I come across that claims that, is from 'annonymous' or a name that is not logged in (and therefore could be anybody).
And by confirm, I mean confirm. Not reading it on the board from someone annonymous,... or hearing that someone heard that from somebody crap.

I thought they were playing at this Middle East show.
Are you referring to the one that already happened at Mark's Showcase?
All the contracts have been signed for this. All the bands playing are definitely going to be there. Vital Remains will definitely be at this one. Come on down!
Also Rich, do you know what time the load-in is, and how long our set is? I'm assuming 20 minutes, but if it's shorter than that, I gotta know to trim it down.
Thanks.

me and jay are recording unholy trinity stuff from 4-12, im praying we get out early.

Yeah, I see posts on different threads bashing Vital for trying to extort more money after everything was set up. But I've noticed that the comments are always by 'annonymous' or a name that is not logged in. They are playing the Middle East, I was just wondering if any logged in members know what happened at the Mark's show.
And really know - not just having read it here or heard from someone who heard from someone.....
It could have happened, but at the moment it seems like someone loves bashing vital and makes claims like this every time Vital is in a thread.

whenever I got to tune into steph's show, she would play something incredible nu-metal. then I would tune in during the week and people would be playing top 40 crapola so I would tune into WZBC

Yeah, Drew runs a good show over at ZBC but there is also Nocturnal Lights on WMBR as well as some shows on WUML. The schedule at MFO is so erratic it's hard to get a consistent online show.
Looks like I might be here afterall. My Athena's Goddess just cancelled on me!
haha, I was just asked to go to an Athena's party tonight in Portland, I guess it is gonna be huge, like 150-200 people or something. A friend of mine is a Goddess and she invited me, I might go check it out, The only reason I would be going though, is there is supposed to be a pub crawl around Portland afterwards.

Pub Crawl + People you meet at an Athena's party= Good Times
i wish i could go...but alas..i've had some health issues and even have been in the hospital. I'm fine but need to take it easy. If aaron was working from home and then driving from portsmouth..i'd totally go. so i can see my RTTP peeps and my boys in Demiricous.

You should come here instead and play with rubber cock.
Party is ON tonight, Athena's promptly found me a replacement that comes with STOCK (instant gratification!) so you'll all have to TRY and enjoy Dismember without my company.
I know...I know...it's gonna be OK.

According to the pr person from metal blade, Demiricous is not playing at the Middle East tonight. I was guest listed but not any more!

Thanks for the kind words. You rule and Nocturnal Lights rules (11-midnight, Monday nights)!
extinction agenda missed it cause of traffic. a666 and not common had merch set up, but dismember made them shut it down or they woundnt play. it was in their contract. lame.
withered: the bassplayer (herb) and I had an akward convo before their set before we both realized that we knew each other. These guys play an awesome set. After 3 times seeing them, I have yet to be disappointed. It was a little weird seeing them on a big stage again. Dismember came out and gave them partyhats. some people kept saying they sound like mastodon, but I can't hear it.
grave: damn, it's been waaaay too long. The last time was back in 2003. Well worth it. I wish they had gotten a longer set. it seemed like it took them about 1/2 the set to get back in stride. After the 1/2 way mark, they were so much better. Some where before that, they played a track from back to the grave and blew the beginning, they started again, but by this point only had a few minutes to set up. The guys from withered came out and gave the drummer a partyhat.
Vital Remains: so the rumor goes that this is anthony's last show with them. If that proves true, you will never hear forever undeground again. they set up on the floor infront of dismember's gear. No clue who that is sitting behind the drum kit. (they announced later on that it was some kid from italy). I think this is the first time I've seen them with a shaven headed suzuki. It was so hot in this place.. It must have been terrible without all that hair to soak up the sweat. Their set ruled. Anthony was teathered to the stage (no wireless mic) or when he jumped into the crowd, he couldn't go very far, but he kept putting the mic in the crowd for the screamers to scream along. They only played for 45 minutes. When your songs are 6-12 minutes long, that's not nearly enough time. this meant that kids were still screaming for songs they didn't play. over all, I gave this set a B+. I've definitely seen much better sets by them, but it was better than I expected from this club there is also a new barricade that sucked a bunch of the fun out of it.
sucks that VR goes on with out anthony. I wish we could set up a glen vs. poll. of course all the mallmetal kids would probably vote where CM sees the $$. it makes ood business sense, but not music sense
tonight's show was awesome. I got to hit everyone with my Vital remains drumstick. Including Aaron. It sucks extinction agenda didn't get to play. I got stuck in that traffic too. It took an hour and a half to get to the Middle East.
that traffic was fucking gayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy thanx to Kevord, we probably saved about another hour of traffic though. AWESUM FUCKING SHOW.

Yeh you ass, I now have like ten million bruises on my ass from that damn drumstick.
agreed all around. all the bands were completely solid.

the mastodon comment was in reference to withered not dismember
not really. touring bands survive on their merch sales. when you have a table like dwyer's with hundreds of titles, it will almost definitely take away from the bands' sales. it's unfortunate, but it makes sense.
if you guys are bummed about anthony not playing with VR anymore, keep an eye out here for updates on our new project, you wont be dissapointed, i promise you.
i can die happy knowing that i saw dismember. i was definitely looking forward to seeing EA, but i believe i'll be seeing them on wednesday and november 11th, so that should make up for it. all the bands were awesome. i've never been able to get into grave as much as other bands in their style, but seeing them live made them 10x better. i'm sure now when i listen to their cd's i'll start getting into it more.
you know who doesn't rule and I totally can't get into? mark fucking richards.
dismember: my 3rd time seeing these guys. twice in the same year too! This is one of those bands that I've liked for so long that I have no clue when I actually started listening to them. the crowd totally packed up front for them. People who've always seemed calm went nuts. They sent a song out to all the people in the front rows. 1/2 of them will be reading this since it was all familar faces. Mike (ninkasi) turned to me and said "sucks we can go on stage." it would be hard for any band to top that set 5+ years ago. Their music has changed so much over the years. I'm glad they played stuff from most of their CDs. but each time they do a CD, it, almost a different band. Sometimes I dark, melodic dm (river runs - which they didn't touch), sometimes it's bolt thower (killing capacity/hate campaign), and then the newer stuff which seems written just so the singer can strut around on stage with the mic (ala angela). Still, it rules to see them and pick out the random awesome riffs they pump out. Did they play anything off the misanthopic ep? my least favorite, but I didn't hear anything from that. These guys seem like total jokers on stage. You can tell in their performance that they a geat time of it. For their last song, like all the other shows I've seen where the tour ends @ the mideast downstairs, all the other bands came out, sprayed beer and just had a good time. I got plenty of pictures of beer flying through the air. The surprising thing was them doing an encore. I was NOT expecting that at all.
and it's "like an everflowing stream" not "river runs." way to get dismember confused with life of agony. i thought i could give you a 2nd chance but you ruined it, pal.
