New site? Maybe some day.
and what brand?
my strings totally depend on my tunings:
E - 9's
Eb, D - 10's
C#, C - 11's
B - 12's or 13's (depends on if I'm playing shroud stuff or death metal, I use the heavier gauge for faster shit)
but, I always use Dean Markley Blue Steel strings |
im all about the light top heavy bottom combos:
on my 7 strings - GHS boomers 7 string sets: 9-58
on my 7 strings - GHS boomers 7 string sets without the high e: 11-58 |
I wasn't ever a fan of boomers, I broke 'em like crazy. same thing with Ernie Ball strings |
Ernie Ball Hybrids... 9 to 46 |
I am always in a string battle. Never 100% sure what I want. If I have been playing guitar a lot in the past month I normally go as thin as I can for the tuning, but if I have been playing bass a lot in my bands I go as thick as possible in the tuning (while still being reasonable). My jackon tuned to E right now has 9's, and my LP tuned to C or drop A# has 12's. I am probably going to go up to 13's on that. |
i still have the strings that came on my c1+ from december... they still sound good does anyone know what strings those are? |
cant tell you what strings you are using but what i can tell you is that youre not playing enough if the strings arent corroding.
i restring every 3-5 weeks depending on how many shows im playing at the time. |
I have to restring all 3 of my guitars soon |
usually 10/11, 14, 16/17, 30, 42, 52-56
and I break 'em all during a set, just ask Meg. |
ernie ball or ghs 10-52, to D. |
Mine go up to 11. D'Addario. We tune to C#. |
i used to be strung 75, 70, 60, 50, 35, 18
now i use 70, 60, 50, 35, 18, 17 |
D'Addario 10s. I would probably switch to 11's or some sort of hybrid if they came in 10-packs. I'd say I have to change strings once every 2-3 weeks.
Oh, and we tune to D. |
I have to say d'addario are the best so far, and I've tried them all. even elixers too tinny |

I have been using the D'addario's for years. I use the 7-string set(.056/.046/.036/.026w/.017/.013 and the .010 goes in the trash) on my six & 7 strings. Tune to B.
What strings I will NOT use you ask.... super slinkys, boomers, sit, & fender bullets. |
10-52 heavey bottom either ernie or DR but DR for some reason around here are hard to come by |
DR make light top heavy bottom strings?
christ, thats the main reason why i dont even use DR, i didnt think they made them. |
Who would use 8's, I didn't even know they made those. The high E string would break if a hummingbird farted on it. |
yngwie uses 8s. theyre great for scalloped necks. |
D'addarios, 10's for tuning a full step down, and 9's for standard tuning |

Yeah and their pretty much impossible to find I had them 2 times and ever since dealers look at me like I have 3 heads half of em havent even heard of DR but I guess thats what happens when you got either an emo kid or 60 year old man selling shit ha I got them when souza my old guitarist worked at GC |
Ernie Ball Heavy Bottom, Skinny Tops
It works best for what i do |
i changed them the other day and they were all black and rusty on the bottom i didn't notice it since i sprayed on 'finger ease' on the neck to make the guitar easier to play for longer. |
it sounds so much better like brand new.
