AAAAAHHHHHH!!!!! i finally get to see arsis, thank fucking christ. if anything happens to keep me from going to this show i'm going to cry for a year straight.

BTA can blow me though. Otherwse, I'm with Mark on this show. HOT DAMN!
nice try MFR, we all know that you can't get angry unless it's about your gear getting nocked over. and then, you get your woman to stand up for you. what are you going to do with her gone? huh bitch? nothing.

pssht, she wasn't even there when my shit got knocked over.
and who said i have to be angry to slash one's throat? i could be a happy killer. tee hee.
School! OH SHIT!
I'm gonna need set times so maybe I can escape early.
If I see Arsis and maybe Ed Gein, I'll be a happy camper.
Also, those two bands alone will bring plenty of Worcester kids. Arsis is actually gaining a lot more attention these days.

yeah dude, that's fine as far as I'm concerned. I'm gonna head down to the venue on Thursday and check it out, but I'm sure there'll be enough room and enough tables for the bands to have room for merch as well as your distro being there.
unfortunately metal shows look like the top picture, haaaaahdcore shows look like the bottom picture.
post by Anthony nli at Aug 15,2006 10:40am
well two of the big draw bands on this show (Ed Gein and BTA) are metalcore, so hopefully it'll look like the bottom.

if you wanna see Arsis, you're gonna need to be there until the show ends at 10. Ill probably put Ed Gein on right before them. So 8:15-10 will probably be those two bands.

luckily this show is both, and i think for the most part all bands playing appeal to both. so lets hope for the best.

ive never heard BTA but I think Ed Gein is your best bet on getting hardcore kids to show up.
unless your friend is MFR... cause his tires will be flat.

Went down to the venue today and made sure everything is all set. There were a ton of hardcore kids there for some show that I dont know what it was. Hopefully they will come out to this one too.
I put one up on the door and gave a bunch out. I couldnt do as much flyering as I wanted because I had to take the commuter rail home and had a 40-minute window to be in Worcester and do what I needed to do.
if i had that many friends i probably wouldnt have to worry about how to get there, grrrrrrrrrr.
are you living in newton still, or back down on the cape? i could probably give you a ride if you still live in newton.
post by Aegathi nli at Aug 21,2006 4:47pm
nice dude, yea im still in Newton, i might begin the process of moving into my new place in quincy that day though, ill keep ya posted. Ive got a big car so i could always bring a bunch of people, i just aint goin in that thing empty handed.
i'll definitely be there...can't make promises for the rest of the sac however
i guess i could club their knee caps and drag them in if necessary

BURRRRRRRRN IT DOWN AT 10
post by anonymous at Aug 22,2006 12:24pm
someone needs to post good directions to this place so people don't get lost on the way there (i.e. the construction stuff that mapquest doesn't know about)
Take the Pike to Rt. 146/Rt. 20. Take 20 West. You'll come to an intersection with a Sunoco, McDonald's, and a Getty(Greenwood St. crosses Rt. 20 here). Take a right onto Greenwood St. The QVCC will be on your left after you pass a liquor store with a Budweiser sign on the front of it(Look for the green canopy in front of the church-like building, it has the name on it). If you reach a White Hen Pantry you've gone too far.
yeah its tricky to notice even for Worcester-ites.
post by anonymous at Aug 22,2006 12:45pm
ok uhhh. some people are taking 495 to 290.
post by Man_of_the_Century at Aug 22,2006 12:49pm edited Aug 22,2006 12:50pm
From the pike:
Take exit 10A for rt.146. Take a left after the toll booth. Follow to Rt 20. Take a left on to Rt. 20. Follow to the first 4-way light. Take a right. Follow that to the QVCC. It will be about 1-2 miles on the left (it looks like a church).
From I-290: Take exit 12 for Rt.146. This road is filled with construction. Follow 146 till the first exit (there isn't an exit sign or number, its right before the first overpass and where the highway opens up to two lanes). The exit is marked with an orange construction sign. Take a right off the exit. Go over the railroad tracks and take a left. Follow to the QVCC. Its about a mile down on the right.
From the South (146) Take the Rt 20/mass pike exit. Follow to Rt. 20. Take a left on to Rt. 20. Follow to the first 4-way light. Take a right. Follow that to the QVCC. It will be about 1-2 miles on the left (it looks like a church).
Take 290 West to 146 South. Once you're on 146S take the first exit(I don't know the exact street name, but it's after the first bit of construction). Take a right off of the exit. You'll come to an intersection with a White Hen Pantry. Take a left onto Greenwood St. at said intersection. The QVCC will be on your right after about 1/4 mile.

you'll know the exit by 2 things. 1, the lanes shift to the left just before it, and 2, there is a small sign and exit for BP Lubricants right before the exit you are supposed to take for the QVCC.
They did put up an exit sign, but there is nothing on it but "exit -->". You see a giant orange arrow directing traffic to the left, and its the exit right after that.
Sure, if that's what you prefer. I will be there from 4:30 on so I could let you in. The doors will open at 6-ish and the music will start RIGHT at 6:30. The show ends at 10 sharp so we will be on a tight schedule with 5 bands.
i SO wanted to go to this, totally killer line up. so naturally i have to work 8am-midnight on thursday. i really need to check out Revocation, and i havent been a good friend and seen Porphyria in a long while.
such is life. Anthony, i hope this show has a huge turnout! itd suck for you to get burned by shitty ticket sales. and i hope all the bands fuckin shred!

yeah we'll play it by ear. I don't want Porphyria to play to no one, so hopefully there will be a decent number of people there shortly after 6. I am going to have to limit both Porphyria's and our own set to 20-25 minutes each.

thanks dude. we are playing a ton in the next couple of months so I'm sure you'll get a chance to catch us soon. As for Arsis, they are coming through here again (at Goodtimes with Cattle Decap.) in a month or two, so you'll have another chance to see them.

honestly duder i wouldnt even be too worried about sets. you know you guys can share our cabs and all that goodness if you want. and the venue is so huge you can stack the bands' equipment in front of each other (a couple bands on the stage, a couple of bands on the floor). even if you dont want to do that, the place is still huge enough for everones stuff to be set up before they play.

durrrr, hey Anthony i just ordered a revocation shirt off of your myspace, please send a large fo me. thanks dude!

true, I will be backlining everyone's gear and thanks for the offer of sharing cabs and stuff, but set times will still need to be short. I want to give Arsis 45 minutes so they should be playing by 9:15.

if there's any way you'd be able to meet up with me in framingham, that would be sick. if not, no huge deal. let me know what works for you. i hope to leave for the show around 5ish, since i have to drop off the mrs. at her friend's apt. near the qvcc first.
If you want to talk about the money stuff behind this show, just ask me when you see me. I'm definitely not putting that information on a public message board.
im just waiting from the call back from tim. at the very least, youre going to have to find PA cabs.
post by blue at Aug 23,2006 5:28pm edited Aug 23,2006 5:43pm
alright, tim said you can use his mixer/power amp, and ill bring my mics/cables/stands and speaker cables. you might want to bring a couple extra mics/mic cables though.
the power amp is 2000 watts, so you need to get PA speakers that can handle the power. make sure the cabs can handle at least 700 watts, and youll be set.
fair warning though, the mixer/power amp wont be arriving until 6-630ish.

Can some one drive me from Berwick ME/Summersworth NH?
I live right next to tom, so if anyone's going to his house for some reason.
porphyria - slay
revocation - i liked cryptic warning better.
becoming the archetype = did they really pray before their set? where all there sonds really about following the righteous path? fuck that. double nay. i liked that one riff they stole from at the gates.
ed gein - slay. they where better last time. louder this time.
arsis - fuck yeah. they played way not enough. slay.
porphyria was sick, but washy church sound and no microphone.
Revocation was still the same good old thrash from before, but there should have been a circle pit, no one does those though i guess.
BTA was very uh.......I dunno slow? Not really into that.
Ed Gien reminds me of alot of the bands that come through western MA but they were way more metal and intense. Crazy and chaotic and loud with live sound clips.
Arsis played everything to the letter and a shortened version of diamond for disease which I liked better than the long one. They are ready for the big time i think. I couldn't hear the drums from that stage though.
post by Anthony nli at Aug 25,2006 11:33am
Thanks to everyone who came out to the show. The turnout was pretty good.
If you missed Arsis, do yourself a favor and go see them in Brockton tonight because they are incredible.
my life is complete now that i've seen arsis. the sound was definitely terrible, but i've been too so many shows in that atmosphere that i learn to look past it. i definitely couldn't hear the drums enough from the stage during arsis either. and they definitely should have played like 3 more songs...or hours...i wanted to hear 'roses on white lace' goddammit!
Porphyria:there were major mic issues. During their set which left timmy just standing there a lot of the time. They were the only band to play with no lights.
revocation: mic issues again, but they turned on those bright lights so we could all see those dork faces.
becoming the archetype: I really like the CD a lot. It's very heavy, but live, they sounded like JFAC + weather channel music. Very slow music.
ed gein: played on floor. they were the first band to filled room. Soundwise. people packed in around them too.
arsis: this is the band that everyone came to see anyhow. They were metal and kicked some ass. I can't say I have anything of theirs, but I still enjoyed them. I actually thought they were going to play up until 10pm (which would have been too long), but then all of a sudden they stopped.
The lead vocalist / guitarist of ARSIS asked me as I was loading my stuff up the stairs "is John Dwyer here?", I said "that's me!" and he said "didn't you have long hair?" and I said "not anymore", we laughed.
