Yeah, he was fired a while ago. Although whether he got canned or walked out in a rage is up for debate.

Yeah I like the brick house a lot. The food is pretty good, the sound and lighting is awesome, and turn outs are very good. Too bad about the sound guy. My bassist had the idea of heading down there on Saturday to pay our respects.

In a very sad and emotional turn of events last night. Just prior to the start of the show at the Dover Brickhouse, in Dover NH. Mr. Dave Bye, sound engineer for the venue, collapsed. Zach was doing the sound for the evening, but Dave was there talking with Zach when he collapsed. The ambulance came to stabilize him and move him out. Zach decided he would still attempt to do sound and we got on stage. At the end of our set, the Brickhouse got the call that Dave had passed away.

After much consideration, the decision was made that the bar would stay open and the show would on. Zach could no longer work the sound, so Matt from "King Memphis", who was playing that evening, offered to take on the job.

The show did go on. It was a night of mixed emotions because we were in a wonderful room with a sound system engineered by Dave. The music was some of the greatest local music I have heard. High energy and positive. But, in the midst of it all, the reality of what happened that evening created an overwhelming sadness at times, which brought the realization of how precious our time is.

We hope that we did the right thing by Dave. Would he have wanted the show to go on? Should we have closed the show out of respect? Personally, I have mixed feelings of both and I am not sure if there is a right answer. What I do know is that it was one of the most memorable and vivid nights of my life. I was surrounded by amazingly talented people doing what they love to do, and at the same time my spirit was haunted by the reality of how fleeting these moments are.

RIP Dave Bye

DOVER — David Roger Bye, 50, of Edgar Bois Terrace, died of a massive heart attack on Sunday, July 23, 2006, at the Wentworth-Douglass Hospital.

He was born on June 9, 1956, in Portland, Maine, the son of Karl and Jean (Waldron) Bye.

He moved to Dover with his family in June of 1959. He graduated from Dover High School in 1974. Following high school, he chose music and "sound engineering" for his career. He became a self-taught sound engineer and "one of the best in the business." Early in his career, he worked and toured with many well known musicians, including some with international celebrity. His heart attack in 1995 forced him to discontinue the touring circuit. Most recently he was the "sound man" at the popular Dover Brick House. Music was his whole life.

Predeceased by his soulmate, Clair Brennan, he is survived by his parents, Karl and Jean (Waldron) Bye; one sister, Lynn Brokus and her husband, Paul; one brother, Ron Bye and his wife, Wanda, all of Rochester; three nieces, Amy Brokus, Katie Brooks, and Sara Brokus, all of Rochester; three nephews, Daniel Brokus of Rochester, Kraig Brokus in Connecticut and Erik Bye in Honolulu, Hawaii; as well as many, many wonderful friends.

In his younger days, David was a motocross enthusiast, gaining some awards along the way. He even managed to garner a trophy in automobile racing at the track in Epping, the prize he won using his mother's Mustang without her knowledge.

More recently, however, he just loved riding his bicycle locally. Most of his family and friends never knew that David had a strong interest in poetry, frequently scribbling poems for his own satisfaction. On one occasion, at least, he submitted a poem and received an "Editor's Choice Award" presented by the International Library of Poetry. One of David's most recent projects was a self-published book entitled "My Journal for Life," inspired by his own health which led him to sponsor a child through the Christian Children's Fund for which he had contributed over the last few years of his life. Through it all, music was his life's passion.

Yeah seriously. The only time I've ever seen him stressed was at the Demilich show, and that was the last time I saw him.

I am so saddened by this. I've talked with the guy before and he is a nice dood and he did the best sound for any venue I've been to in this area.

R.I.P. Dave Bye
