toggletoggle post by GoatOfCatalyst at Jul 20,2006 4:41pm
Because metalcore can and WILL ruin a night...

toggletoggle post by xmikex at Jul 20,2006 4:44pm
not to say it's a stupid idea but...who books a "fest" on a thursday night. man, what a stupid idea.... crap.

Don't worry about taking picks Rev, No one on here is gonna give a shit. Oh and say "HI" to Joe Christianni for us all.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Jul 20,2006 7:14pm
joe christianni is next door with 20 retirees. they are having a city hall meeting. he came in here, but was caught in a mosh so he trotted off to his meeting.

the only "fest" like-ness of this show is the # of bands. this is just another touring package with 20 bands opening. I got here and missed 3 or 4 bands.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Jul 20,2006 9:46pm
I'm back. the last 4 bands all happened with in like 30-40 minutes.

this show was huge dissapointment. armor for the broken and some other screamo band to start off, then shot down sun, then about 30 min of NOTHING. then some bands decided ot show up an hour later. they were told the show started at 4.

there were random bikers out front. 2 members of what i was told were the hell's angels as security. i ended up missing 1 or 2 bands because of hunger and a desprite search for food, but when i returned i found that ALES had shown up with WOP and recon. CDC and some other band showed up right at the ending of the show.

all and all, the main band i wanted to see (winds of plague) played 3 songs and then handed their set over to CDC. if you didnt go, you didnt miss anything.

this is a fun venue, but who's the rocket scientist that booked that many bands to start at 2:30 on a fucking thursday afternoon?

Betrayed By All played there with all locals on a thursday night, doors were at 6 and by the time we played there were 60+ kids there going nuts. Something like 6 bands played and I was home in bed before midnight. So there's plenty of potnetial there.

some kids just shouldn't book shows.

toggletoggle post by xmikex at Jul 21,2006 8:56am
Also, is that CDC from Pennsylvania?? I would have definently came out to see them, but I didn't know about this show until about 4:00 the day of. And even then the show started at fucking 2:30. Where the hell was the promotion for this show????

tell me about it, The Final Battle got FUCKED in CT on Wednesday night by some young kid who booked a show with 10 bands on it, 2 of which were from CA and touring at a hall that had to be closed by 11

young kids booking shows always ends painfully. The two worst instances that come to mind are:

a. Anal Cunt in JP when the kids booking the show somehow let someone walk off with 90% of the PA, half the working speakers, and all the mic stands except for 1 which was broken. When the kid suggested to Seth that they could tie a microphone to the stand using a chord or a rope Seth turned and shook his hand and said "This is the most professional show I've ever seen."

b. Some band of 16 year old kids booked a show and left after their band played (which was somethine like 2nd in the show) because they "didn't have a ride home." They let one of the bands walk off with the entire PA system while there were still 2 bands left. This is after having not promoted the show outside the South Shore Plaza.

hah. I know this kids ms too.
oh and animanics is coming out on DVD this tuesday... I know what his next line of polls will be:
how's more metal? pinky, brain, tom bosworth.

recon: they were the first band I caught. Decent metalcore.

pillar of autumn: I've seen them before. I guess they played old songs or something. People danced, but mostly everyone there could sing along with all the songs. Weird.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Jul 22,2006 3:04pm
a love end suicide: I wasn't too into them at NEMHF either. I think it's the clean vocals that ruin it for me. I know they sell and all, but I just can't take them. Fans of pheonix mourning will like this band. I would be surprised if they tour together.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Jul 22,2006 3:05pm
winds of plague: these guys sort of stole the shhow for me. Think animosity mixed with atmospheric black metal synths and the occasional rhapsody guitar riff. Most of the vocals were gurgles and inhales (i think). There was some more "hardcore" songing vocals during the 2 and mainly 3rd song, but the first song alone was worth my drive there. Awesomeness.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Jul 22,2006 3:40pm
for the fallen dreams: their set was really quick.. Um.. It reminded me of someone, but I don't know.

cdc: I remember for about 3 month, everyone from western mass was all over this band. I actually thought they were from CT cause they played up here so much. They played really quickly and sounded like since the flood.

toggletoggle post by sphincter at Jul 22,2006 4:22pm
clean vocals can ruin good metal/hardcore, because they sound emoish. More metalcore/hardcore clean vox should sound like burton c bell, cuz he does it right

and rev i am not into the animaniacs iwont, be getting the dvd,and i won't be making any animaniacs polls
