i dont care about anything else but these two records, which is better.

haha nobody liked Once Upon the Cross, i thought that shit rocked

I love Once Upon the Cross but the Bleeding is a more classic record. The best two Deicide albums are the 1st two, hands down.

true enough, i remember waiting so long for that record to drop and then they delayed it to redo the artwork.

I don't like either.

I actually liked Once Upon the Cross, but I've found the majority of the Deicide career boring at best.

There are single Cannibal Corpse tunes that are better than the entire Deicide discography, so my vote is obvious. I think they have records far better than The Bleeding, I could care less how many points I lose.

toggletoggle post by whiskey_weed_and_women  at Jun 29,2006 6:33pm
its not about points i was listening to both records at the time and bordom told me making a poll would be a good idea. it was correct

toggletoggle post by notorious_D.U.G. at Jun 29,2006 6:35pm
both albums are my favorite from both bands but both CDs lose steam and interest about 2/3 of the way through.

Oh no, I just meant it's the popular opinion to like The Bleeding the most of all the CC records, so I lose the fictional points for liking some of their later records more (Bloodthirst and Gallery of Suicide, to be specific). The points had nothing to do with the poll.

toggletoggle post by whiskey_weed_and_women  at Jun 29,2006 6:40pm
i just meant points in general.....points are stupid, screw the points system.

If you had made the poll:

Deicide's first 4 albums
v.
Cannibal Corpse's first 4 albums

I would have voted for Deicide. But in this specific case, The Bleeding V. OUTC I voted for the The Bleeding which is easily the best CC album.

toggletoggle post by davefromthegrave  at Jun 29,2006 8:41pm edited Jun 29,2006 8:43pm
CC

+1 for being more technically proficient than deicide

-1 for jack owen being a golf instructor

deicide

+1 for glenn being a rapist

-1 for sounding like shit everytime I've seen them live

toggletoggle post by kevord  at Jun 29,2006 9:06pm
Scott, you lose 10,000 scene points for liking cannibal corpses later albums more. Especially Gallery of suicide. Although Bloodthirst is really good.

toggletoggle post by blue nli at Jun 29,2006 9:11pm
gallery wasnt THAT bad, but bloodthirst is probably my fav CC album.

tomb of the mutilated

toggletoggle post by DreamingInExile   at Jun 30,2006 8:24am
shit, both are great albums in my opinion, but I had to go with The Bleeding, seeing that has far more memorable riffs/lyrics. Although Once Upon the Cross and Kill the Christian lyrically are entertaining, that album really doesn't strike me as a 'must listen' like The Bleeding does.

and Kev, I lose 10,000 scene points as well, seeing that Gallery of Suicide is probably my favorite CC album, and I don't despise the rest of the post-barnes albums

toggletoggle post by hungtablenli at Jun 30,2006 8:47am
I think pretty much every Deicide cd except Legion is wicked fucking cheezy and sounds all the same. I was never exactly the biggest fan of Cannibal Corpse, however, I can still tolerate their older shit. They got the same deal going though, they're ultra cheeze and all their shit since Gallery of Suicide sounds exactly the same.

i come alive in the darkness

That works in my favor, because the less points, the more kvlt.

Gallery of Suicide is amazing. That instrumental track? Come on.

I do think The Bleeding is their best album with Chris Barnes.

I will always have a soft spot for Cannibal Corpse. They were the first of the newer death metal bands I really got into (I'm ancient, I still think of CC as a "new" band sometimes). I think Tomb of the Mutilated is their best album, but The Bleeding was great too. I gained a lot of respect for CC when The Bleeding came out. Back in 1994, just about every old schol death metal band started to wimp out (just like the thrash bands did in '88). Heartwork, Fear Emptiness Despair, Wolverine Blues etc etc it was a bad time for me, watching bands I grew up on turn into limp wristed gaybar patrons. Then CC came out with The Bleeding and I breathed a big sigh of relief. SOMEONE still knew how to kick ass. I saw CC 4 times on that tour. (I've seen 'em at least once for every album since Butchered at Birth, I remember my first day at college in '91, I saw a flyer for a CC show at some dive bar on Ave. A, it was a killer, killer fucking show and a good omen of shows to come. Going to NYU in the early 90's ruled)

Deicide's first two albums ruled. Especially the first one. It was almost like Dark Angel on speed (I fucking loved Dark Angel). Saw 'em a bunch of times on the Legion tour at L'Amour. They were SO good live back then. They would basically play every song they had and the crowd would be screaming for more. After Legion they got wicked boring. Each album got progressively worse. I gave up on them after Serpents.

toggletoggle post by VomittingCarcass   at Jun 30,2006 10:50am
I wish i saw them on tour with barnes :( that rules you lucky bastard.

toggletoggle post by Josh_Martin at Jun 30,2006 10:52am
I think Gallery of Suicide is the worst CC album. I usually couldn't give a rat's ass about production but something about the sound of that one just rubbed me the wrong way. The show at the Living Room with Angel Corpse on that tour was amazing though. Easily the best Corpsegrinder era CC show I've ever seen.

toggletoggle post by DrinkHardThrashHard  at Jun 30,2006 10:53am
Did you like Bloodthirst, out of curiosity? That's probably my favorite.

I think The Wretched Spawn was their worst, nothing stood out to me, but it was still alright.

I don't think they've ever had a shit album, that's one of my favorite things about CC. I even listen to the debut all the time.

toggletoggle post by Josh_Martin at Jun 30,2006 11:00am
Yeah, I thought Bloodthirst was really good. Again, I usually don't care about production but Colin Richardson has done a lot of albums I really like.

ya wolverin blues was awesome for me cuz it was some the first decent death metal i heard other than cc, napalm, and sepultura. being that age, and the only one into death metal i knew, made finding death metal risky on my 5$ a week i got for doing shitty chores.

If I was 12 in '94 and FED was the 1st Napalm Death I'd heard maybe I would've liked it. God knows I really WANTED to like it. Mitch Harris played it for me a few months before it was released. and I just kinda didn't say anything. Coming after their previous records it was massively disappointing to me. Napalm Death minus speed = boring. It wasn't until the very last song that they staeted playing fast. And I'm not one of those guys who only likes the Lee/Bill era. Utopia Banished was awesome.

Its really all about perspective.
Take Led Zeppelin for instance. I am young enough where by the time I got into them, I could look at their entire discography as a whole and judge each album on its own.
But I bet there's old guys out there who got into them at the beginning and thought they totally gayed out on Led Zeppelin III and won't listen to anything but the first two.

I agree with this 100%.

For example, Time Does Not Heal was my first Dark Angel record and it absolutely floored me. I was blown away by the songwriting, the playing and the riffs. But I could easily imagine how someone who was a DA fan from day 1 and remembered when Darkness Descends came out could see TDNH as being longwinded and lacking in intensity compared to older material.

There wasn't anything that even came close to matching, say, "The Death of Innocence" from Leave Scars on TDNH.
