ok, I figured with all you nerds, we need a thread that has spoilers in it so we can talk about it. you know, nerd to nerd.

so start.
I'm going to say that Collosus didn't have his thick accent. he even had it on the spiderman show. what gives!

toggletoggle post by succubus  at Jun 4,2006 1:54pm
he did have an accent like i already told you...he didn't talk much though

i was expceting the scene after the credits to be longer...

toggletoggle post by Abbath at Jun 4,2006 1:56pm
rev man do you have a hard time spelling sometimes?
x-men 3 was ok nothing great nothing bad

toggletoggle post by succubus  at Jun 4,2006 2:01pm
actully he was making a joke in the title.....
ps: i told him i didn't get it either...

toggletoggle post by Nash/nli at Jun 4,2006 2:08pm
what happened after the credits? I didn't stick around.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Jun 4,2006 2:12pm
yes, abbath, that was a joke.
I thought the music was really good.

let's see... the mutiple guy was a good guy who fought with xfactor, I think. he was a nerdy guy. I remember the story line where one of his multiples mutated and went off in his own life.

i wish it was in IMAX

the movie overall was entertaining...Beast kicked ass...but there were some indiscrepencies

Collosus didnt have ANY character development, which sucks because Kitty Pride was in the movie and she should have been HIS romantic interest NOT Iceman's

just saw this movie a couple hours ago. i thought it was good. juggernaut was kind of gay. i like bullet tooth tony, but he just didn't have me convinced as jugg.

toggletoggle post by niccolai   at Jun 5,2006 12:40am
Jugger not was wayyyyyy off. He isn't even supposed to be a mutant.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Jun 5,2006 12:52am
also, when kitty pryde phases people into things, their cells fuse into whatever it is. effectively making them dead.

it's awesome that they tied maura into this. I wonder if they will make a exclibur movie. wonder who will play megan.

also, the new mutants movie would be awesome, the how inferno series? xtinction agenda? gensha? long shot (and the TV show place he's from), Gabmit, cable, jubilee, the whole austraila thing, sentinels (they did make an apperance in the danger room), the true dark pheonix saga, magneto running the school, Xfactor, the archangel saga, and whatever happend in the early 200's of the uncanny xmen that I forgot... all of those would make super sick movies.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Jun 5,2006 12:54am
and for the new mutants, I'm talking warlock here. man... he would be one of the coolest characters.

also, in this movie, what was up with leech. I thought that guy was a headcase or an alien in the comics.

toggletoggle post by DrinkHardThrashHard  at Jun 5,2006 8:58am edited Jun 5,2006 9:00am
The movie was quite underwhelming. Two flashlights suspended in the air and a big ugly steel prop do not a Sentinel make.

Mediocre for a finale.

Beast was good. Getting to see Juggernaut kick Wolverine's ass was also good. Too bad he's not supposed to be British and originally he was not a mutant either.

A lot of people missed this, but the death count on popular characters was actually one higher than just Phoenix/Cyclops/Professor X (original body, he didn't actually die). Psylocke died too (the purple haired chick, she got disintegrated wit Arclight and Porcupine when they came out of the facility at the end).

The high school drama with Kitty, Bobby, Rogue was entirely unnecessary in this film.

Leech is supposed to be green and wearing a stocking cap.

toggletoggle post by mOe  at Jun 5,2006 9:40am
the one thing that pissed me off was people pretending to be know it alls and saying Wolverine didnt HAVE to kill her, he could have just stabbed her with the cure needles or used Leech to do it...thats a retarded suggestion

Pheonix was disintegrating cars and human beings in a matter or seconds, do you really think Wolverine would have been able to get that close to her with little plastic syringe bullets...no
the same goes for Leech, and since Jean was the most powerful mutant ever, who's to say Leech's powers would have been that effective anyway, barring she didnt turn him into dark grey dust beforehand

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Jun 5,2006 9:47am
I missed that that was (one of] the incarnation of psylocke. I will have to look and see which one of her it was. I didn't really pay much attention to her in the series (plus, I stopped reading in 1994-95) and missed a lot of that drama.

I guess I missed the ending even though I saw it. it's the ending of the xmen series too (from what I was told).

I guess when xavier "woke up" in the body of that guy, we all thought that he had transferred his knowledge into the body of the person that had no higher brain function. right? well, I was just told that in the series, xavier "woke up" and the xmen was all a dream and that's how it ended. there is nothing that I've found to verify the "dallas" wake up story line, but looking at the wikipedia for this movie, the spoiler is just as we think it is from watching the movie.

M0e is correct.

Wolverine regenerates on a cellular level. Phoenix can destroy things at a MOLECULAR level. Yes, Hollywood, molecules are smaller than cells. There is no way Wolverine's healing factor could compensate for that.

I'm very tired of Hollywood retards scoring the big bucks over intellectual properties when they don't even have enough interest in the property to create a lasting, well-reasoned script that at least makes sense.

There is no reason this movie franchise could not have been 100% loyal to the comics. It's because these giant studios have so much dough that they simply do not give a fuck, they want their cash cow and they know that domestic film in general is so damned apathetic that just by putting the name XMEN on a flick will bring in the hordes.

Right, well technically every character in the films was just one incarnation of the comic entity.

In all their stupidity and shortsightedness to constantly recreate the same characters so they can put the same name on the comic and have the same people buying it out of some false sense of fanboy obligation, they created so many asinine, unnecessary continuities that I stopped keeping track and, for that matter, I stopped reading Marvel comics many years ago, permanently. It would be needless for me to bring up the giant stinking cess of shit that the entire Spider-man cloning thing arc had a few years back.

I am a fan of DC (they also do the multiple continuity crap, but they have far superior writing and their sub-brand Vertigo is responsible for at least two of the greatest comics of all time) and indie rags.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Jun 5,2006 10:33am
I stopped reading when I needed to buy 5 different issues of xmen to get all the cable covers and the story line when through 5 different other series that I didn't read.
plus, the cost of the magazines when from $1.25 to $1.75+.

I must say, you spout a lot of hatred...

comics will forever kill off and bring back (through completely insane and rediculous as the world turns type plot twists) characters that are popular. this is what they do and why for xxx years people bought their product.

while reading some stuff, I just got reminded of dazzler. omg.. I have like a bunch of her solo stuff. crazy. I think she was better when they re-made her as jubilee. speaking of jubilee, I think that rogue in the movies took the place of jubilee in the comics since she was a bit younger and acted as less of an equal and more of a student to wolverine.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Jun 5,2006 10:38am
damn, I forgot that the new mutants got brought back as xforce. I wonder how many xforce comics I have.

also, the worst draw storyline goes to the Starammers... ahahaha.. I was pretty young when those came out. lmfao.
what about the brood? aliens rip off. nuff said.

i thoroughly enjoyed this. i thought it was a great end to a great trilogy. i'm not a huge comic fan, and yes the discrepancies were annoying, but easily looked past. Gambit should have definitely been in place of a few of those weirder mutants. and why did the subculture of mutants become Hot Topic "goths"? they all should have been dressed like Immortal instead.

Jean held a slight ammount of controll still and understood she needed to be killed, wich is understood by her concience just before she is killed.

It's possible that she was fighting with the pheonix to let wolverine live because she knew he had to kill her.

They retconned the part about the cosmic force. Xavier was mentioning how Jean developed the alter ego of the pheonix, so I would be suprized to see them tie future movies in with all that. I think in the future they will focus on sinister so they can work in Gambit.

Rogue getting cured was wicked gay!!

I was dissapointed with some things in it being a huge comic fan, they took way too many storylines and tried to put them together, didn't do enough character developement, it was very short, characters were used incorrectly and were not used to their full potential but if you go and watch it for pure entertainment purposes and don't try to disect it and relate it to all the comics its a good movie. I enjoyed it

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Jun 5,2006 2:06pm
I see a triolgy of pheonix..
the raise, fall and end of days... it would be awesome.

BlackoutRick: jubilee was big in the australian episodes after um.. I think it's uncanny xmen 280-ish. she was also one of the main characters in the cartoon. she tossed firecrackers just like dazzler. what a dumb power. I think she in the end was able to throw balls of them too.
Rogue is not cured. he powers are going to come back just like magnetos are coming back. too bad she didnt know about leech. she could have banged bobby while leech was watching.

Gotta love the title on that cover...

I stopped reading X-Men in the late 80s. It was very strong for the first few hundred issues, after that I stopped caring. And I must state that GOOD comics do not forever kill off and bring back characters. Transmetropolitan? Watchmen? Steampunk? etc, etc. Classics.

Crappy superhero comics (Marvel and unfortunately DC) forever kill off and bring back characters as a deux ex machina, because they cannot write worth a damn and have let the idea well run dry for a long time now.

Honestly, a lot of people don't buy their products...sales have been relatively low for comics over the past decade. Part of this is due to the multiple continuities, etc. and how many times Marvel dropped the ball in the 90s. Only the hardcore still spend a lot on comics. This is one of the reasons for the major resurgence in comic films, Marvel will be quicker to sell over rights because they are trying to renew interest in the medium.

For example, how much do you spend on comics monthly?

I mean, manga outsells a lot of American comics here in the States now! That is insane and was unthinkable back in the day.

The other Spidey villain will probably be Lizard since they introduced Dr. Connors in part 2. My 2nd guess would be Hobgoblin but that's just too soon considering GG2 is in it. Then again Raimi seems to be making Spider-man 3 villain city so who knows.

P.S. For any comic nerds that may be interested, there are plans to make Alan Moore's Watchmen comic (from DC) into a movie, and I hear they're shopping for a new studio to release it because the current contract holders are trying to change the ending so that it's not so violent and horrible. They'd better not pussy out. That's bullshit.

Magneto called her Jubilee in the movie, it's really quick while they're standing on the bridge, he asks her to target the soldiers' weapons. The movie had fuckups everywhere as far as comics are concerned, but it was still a great movie. I know more about the X-Men than I want to, and lots of shit about the movie (vs. the comics) bothered me, but I loved it anyway.

I thought he got AIDS as well, but I haven't really been into comics for oh, 14 years. I just started reading them again thanks in part to seeing X-Men 3, and also in part to my guitarist. I just found out Wolverine's real name, which is NOT Logan, and his whole origin story. It boggles the mind. The biggest shocker is that I'm actually reading DC comics, which were shunned by Marvel fans (and vice versa) when I was a collector. Nerd? Yeah, so fucking sue me.
