I must know like 173 Pantera fans that look identical to the kid in the chair.

Lot's of people who like metal feel guilty for not giving a damn that dimebag is dead.

I'm not one of them.

I hated his guitar playing and hate(d) Pantera.

It's very irritating that the flood gates of practically every forum I post on have been opened to threads like 'ofg dim3bag is ded?? Lol wtf BBQ!!!1!1!on!on!On1N!ne'.

I've got more of a problem with the entire metalcore/toughguy thing Pantera helped shape than with Pantera's music itself, but I haven't really listened to them for over a decade.

Of course you do. I think it's because you were what, 3 years old when cowboys from hell came out?

Lot's have done bigger and better things since then, but at the time dimebag made a huge impact, no matter what the later ramifications were.

Exactly. These young guys have no fuckin clue.

I'll agree with that, I probably would have prefered Pantera over pretty much everything else that existed at the time.

I don't, however agree to having 'no fuckin clue'. He might have been great in 1990, but if it's because the other music in existance at the time was trash, it's not a possitive statement for Pantera, it's a negative for the other bands of the time.

Besides, I'm entitled to disliking him anyways for trying to make the shit that was 'good back in the day' appeal to today's music scene:
If a band is going to be subject to the praise of the current age, than it must also be subjected, and accepting to the criticism, no?

Chief Wiggam.

Dimebag continued being a standout guitar player on all the Pantera releases, including the record in 2000. Pantera will always be one of my favorite bands, no matter how many times I've heard them, their records don't disappoint me.

I didnt watch this video, but I'm sure it sucks.

you present a good argument. i however disagree, and believe that Pantera is the greatest music band of all time, and Dimebag is the greatest guitarist of all time. and i believed this stuff long before his death. from Cowboys to Reinventing the Steel, the never disappointed. Far Beyond Driven is the #1 metal creation since metal was first conceived. the only thing i hate is how Pantera became a marketing ploy, and every snot nosed little metalcore retard jumped on the bandwagon after he died.

No, Anthony is right, Reinventing the Steel kicks ass. But we're all entitled to an opinion. There's no accounting for taste.

That accounts for a good amount of my distaste for them.

it's certainly up there in my list of greatest records.

I listened to the entirety of Trendkill last night for the first time in a while. While it doesn't quite touch FBD, it is a fucking nasty album. 13 Steps to Nowhere is one of Pantera's coolest songs.

I haven't heard far beyond driven... recomend a song for pirating purposes...

toggletoggle post by Anthony nli at Mar 27,2006 1:22pm
strength beyond strength... slaughtered.. hard lines and sunken cheeks

those are all pretty brutal and heavy

the more catchy, mid-paced songs are like 5 minutes alone, and im broken.

toggletoggle post by Yeti at Mar 27,2006 1:23pm
you say what you say without having heard Far Beyond Driven?? i hope it changes your mind. download any of the following

Slaughtered
Use My Third Arm
Strength Beyond Strength
Hard Lines and Sunken Cheeks
Shedding Skin

well really you can download any song and it will be awesome, but those are shining moments

toggletoggle post by niccolai   at Mar 27,2006 1:28pm
Use my third arm was pretty sick until the vocals came in.

toggletoggle post by Yeti at Mar 27,2006 1:30pm
gah. to each his own.

toggletoggle post by niccolai   at Mar 27,2006 1:31pm
Strength beyond strength actually isn't to bad.

Better than most of the other pantera stuff I heard.

The vocals definately aren't my thing though.

I thought CFH was gay when I first heard it shortly after it was released. I was 17.
Cemetary Gates is the gayest metal song ever written.
Rob Halford singing about Fire Island has nothing on CFH.

a lot of what Pantera did was pretty great until the vocals came in.

I got talked into going to a drum show once at a drum school. I had to watch this kid (who was drumming for this crappy band I was in, and to this day is probably the worst drummer I've ever seen) play drums to Cowboys From Hell. As stupid as that song is, you'll never understand how stupid it can truly be just watching some closet homosexual play drums to it.

I still love Dimebag though.

lame video...there are plenty of retarded douchebags who are fans of any of bands anyone here listens too...
