Guy's email is xiwilleatyoux@aol.com |
they are in europe now, I think |
yeah, but i want them super bad for a christmas show im booking, and im super nervous because id need to make back all the money im spending on it, and that means drawing a shitload of people, like 400-500.... |
where are you throwing it? |
you're gonna need alot more then just the red chord to book 400-500 kids.
ps. book all out war. |
heh.. they bring almost no one.
i saw them in haverhill, over 500 paying people.
it was awesome.
I saw them in haverhill with like 25 other people |
from all the times the people ive known who booked the Red Chord i heard they'll play only if there's another "big" headliner.
All Out War would be a fantastic addition. |
arg, nuclear assault!!! theyre that band that old people listen to. like all the lonely 35 year olds at my community college. theres this one with a goatee, hes balding too and always wears a nuclear assault shirt, and hits on the "freshmeats"...i wish he would die.
haha, thanks mike for the insight, but i know one band cant bring in that many people. if you must know, im booking about 10 metal bands for the show. and not little shitty ones. id be bringing in bands from california, ohio, and michigan for it. and yeah, i was gonna have dying fetus headline, until they wanted 2000 dollars and for me to pick up thier tab everywhere they go while theyre here - completely out of the question, especially since ive heard stories about them bein sketchy, like getting paid ahead of time then never showing up. forget that. i thought metal was about pissing in the mainstream, boys; not forbes magazine and taking all you can from some kid booking a show.
so im gonna try to get another specific big band to headline, maybe theyre not so star-struck. and if not, ill just have the red chord headline, but theres still gonna be another 8-9 bands.
and id tell you all the line-up, but i wont. call me paranoid, but ive heard of people "stealing" shows, i.e. hearing about what someone is doing then trying to get those bands to play for them instead. i love metal, and id love to set up killer shows, but not if id get burned. know what im sayin?

dude, NA KILLS !!! what's wrong with you?

nuclear assault is ok, but its thier fanbase im weary of. theyre usually just as bad as that morbidly obese dude who has that cable access show about KISS, and always has the same shirt on. which, by the way, is very stinky, stained, and ridden with holes in close range contact. his star trek wife is even more repugnant.
but yeah, nuclear assault= fat lonely dudes with sleeveless flannel and leather vests. haha, divine empire, anyone? |
yeah, most likely it will be at either lupos or the living room. id like to ahve it at the met, but its too small. |
met cafe = 500
lupos = 1400 (1700 w/ upstairs)
living room = 400-600? |

since your giving out the capacities....
do each of these places usually charge a production fee as well?
or is band gets ?% of the door... bar gets ?%
maybe Im asking to much.. but Im curious.
I heard the line up and this show is going to be brutal as hell. |
xtom, in the case that you are booking 10 metal bands for the show, the red chord won't play. they have a rule about NOT playing shows with a bill of 4 or 5 bands or higher. |
yeah, the venues take thier cut - i know the met takes all the bar money, 25% of the door money, and you have to pay for the sound guy, door guy, and bartender, which is like 400 bucks. so if i spend like 3500-4000 putting this show together, can you see why id want 400-500 people there? i have to break even on this show. |
I don't know about billing stuff.
ask armageddon ann or ben about that. |
hey tom, as far as i know, the red chord aren't doing any more shows after they get back from europe. i think they're taking it easy until spring so they can write and record. at any rate, guy's AIM name is xiwilleatyoux.
p.s. - the living room is your best bet for an all day show ike that. those other places dont want to stay open that long. just watch randy (the guy that owns the LR) like a hawk with your $. |
met only holds like 270 legaly i think now. (stupid station fire)
living room has been getting some big shows latly but the most that was ever there was like 600+ for godsmack a few years ago ive been to a few shows recently there with liek 500+ people (prov declares war show, and soulcore)
id say book that at the living room for the simple reason that i get in for free haha |
how bout you let me in free too.
there are some merrits to letting me in free...
um... like.. LET ME IN! |
try to get 1 big band and then a mid sized band at a reduced rate
say cryptopsy and skinless
or something along those lines
charge money for distros to set up
i dont know, this is tough. some of these bands are super rockstar now. they want bundles of cash, plus hospitality (hotel/food/beer/etc) i mean, shit. dying fetus wants 2000 alone. forget that. i mean, putrid pile is coming out from wisconsin, and they only want 200. i understand that they're bigger bands, but seriously. i could see 1000, maybe 1500, but 2000 and hotels and shit? rrrrg. |
Tom im sure kids from all over will definatly show up to this thing. Pretty much every band has to promote it. I know for a fact STE will promote the hell out of it. Im looking for headliners for you. It should be a real fun time. |

its wicked rough man. thats why i stopped booking shows. fucking rockstars. |
what about bon jovi and mortiis?
arent they touring together with king diamond?
AHHHHHHHHHAHAHHAHAHHA MORTIIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! that guy is such a looooooooser!!!!!! BAHAHAHAHAHAHA. his existence is my funny. he's been a running joke in my group of friends since high school. "naaaaaaaaarrhg i sleep with wolves" "scar trek rurglerglrrglr im so clever" what an ego for someone who got booted from emperor, got lame surgery to look like a 40 year old elf, and rips off burzum by making shitty techno-folk.
he lives with his mom still, too. i know because one of my friends started writing to him out of boredom, and ended up becoming his penpal of sorts, haha.
we even had a shitty metal band that lasted 3 days, and we wrote a song called "you got kicked out of emperor, now you're an elf"
i wish i could book mortiis, but hes probably too busy making spectacular fudge cookies in the keebler tree... |
