not sure if this has been posted, but im sure it will be, or already has been, all over the news. i'm in europe so i'm kinda of out of the loop. i remember members of this board have been talking about the eminent destruction of all civil liberties in america, i guess this is just one step closer.

yeah, fuck you south dakota.
I was listening to a thing on the news where a legislator from this state was like "there should be no abortion even in the case of rape"

a girl called up and started crying cause she was raped and had to have an abortion because of it and the guys was like "well, think about it. the baby didnt do anything. the baby didn't rape the woman" !!!!!!!!

WTF is wrong with people. her body her choice.
I'm trying not to look into this and listen to stuff cause this shit really makes me mad. almost as much as smoking.

Damned LIBERALS!!!

Save the whales and kill the babies right?!?!

toggletoggle post by paganmegan   at Mar 6,2006 2:51pm
that is truly fucked up. It sets a precedent for this idiocy to become national, next thing you know coat hangers will be the only method of birth control available.

If a woman is raped she should NOT be forced to carry a living reminder of the atrocity brought upon her. If you don't like abortion don't have one.

This bullshit pisses me off too.

when there comes a day when there are 5,000-7,500 people on this planet instead of 6,598,06x,xxx
http://www.ibiblio.org/lunarbin/worldpop
then we can outlaw abortion.

Population: Humpback whales once numbered an estimated 125,000, but whaling drastically reduced the population. Today humpbacks number approximately 5,000 to 7,500.

crime rates go up within 20 years of abortion being banned. Mark my words.

oh, and what's with so-called conservatives consistently creating more and more government involvement in citizens lives and rights? Isn't that the opposite of the party charter?

this is fuckin disgusting

and what's even MORE disgusting are all the hypocrites on this topic.

my uncle is anti-abortion. he's an old, overly christian male who would never have to make the choices women face every day. my dad got into a heated argument with him about it one day and came close to snapping and beating the shit out of him. my dad's no liberal, but he hated the idea of old men making decisions for young women. it seems most people i hear about who are anti-abortion are conservative old men who could never be faced with the decision to abort.

bush's abortion:

women of childbearing and voting age should have a say in this.

toggletoggle post by HailTheLeaf  at Mar 6,2006 3:50pm
If you like don't agree with abortion then don't fucking have one! I love how white males think they can control other people's personal lives and bodies through government legislation, it's not your body, you have no right to tell others what to do with theirs, fuck off. Not to mention the policies of the radical "pro-life" movement end up killing more women and children than abortions ever have. You know how you prevent abortions? BIRTH CONTROL, education, and access to healthcare.

toggletoggle post by DrinkHardThrashHard  at Mar 6,2006 5:35pm edited Mar 6,2006 5:36pm
For the record, it's not just 'white males'. There are white females and individuals of both genders and other skin tones who feel the same, both young and old.

Otherwise, I am pro-choice and this makes me sick too. Carry on.

800 women had abortions in South Dakota last year. If you want an indication of how concerned the South Dakotan government was about the "sanctity of life" you can ask the children living in poverty in South Dakota about how much the state values their lives.

How about some stats from www.childrensdefense.org

South Dakota ranks 34th among states in the percent of children who are poor.
Nearly 2 in 10 children are poor in South Dakota.
Number of children under age 18 who are poor
33,965
Percent of children under age 18 who are poor
17.2%
South Dakota ranks 44th among states in per pupil expenditures.
Amount spent per pupil in academic year
$5,259

Isn't it great to know that they care so much about a "defenseless" cluster of cells while telling rape victims and impoverished families to fuck off?

http://www.alternet.org/rights/33242/

The South Dakota Legislature has made it a crime for a doctor to perform an abortion under any circumstances except to save the life of the mother. There are no exceptions for rape, incest or to preserve the health of the mother. Should this strike you as hard cheese, State Sen. Bill Napoli, R-Rapid City, explains how rape and incest could be exceptions under the "life" clause. Napoli believes most abortions are performed for "convenience," but he told "The NewsHour With Jim Lehrer" about how he thinks a "real-life example" of the exception could be invoked:

"A real-life description to me would be a rape victim, brutally raped, savaged. The girl was a virgin. She was religious. She planned on saving her virginity until she was married. She was brutalized and raped, sodomized as bad as you can possibly make it, and is impregnated. I mean, that girl, could be so messed up, physically and psychologically, that carrying that child could very well threaten her life."

what fucking plane of exsistance are these people on?

NON-CHRISTIAN VIRGIN RAPE VICTIMS ARE NOT VICTIMS

YOU HEAR THAT GUYS? LET'S HAVE A SOUTH DAKOTAN RAPE OFF!!!!!!

i completely agree with you.

I also agree with you two. I'm 100% pro-choice and I am appalled at this "law" to take away women's right to freedom of choice.

I really can't stand this whole idea that abortions are performed for "convenience." In most cases it is the last resort when other forms of contraception fail. We don't need lawmakers painting women who have abortions as irresponsible sluts while at the same time blocking their access to other contraceptives such as the morning after pill.

Do any of these lawmakers know a women who has had an abortion? If they did they'd know it isn't one of those "walk in, walk out" procedures. It's emotionally taxing, thinking about your decision leading up to the procedure and you're in debilitating pain following an abortion.

I mean, you get your Abortaclub card punched (9th abortion is free!) and you're totally back in the sack that afternoon getting plowed by a dude you don't know.

toggletoggle post by HailTheLeaf  at Mar 8,2006 3:19pm
Yeah, I'm sure women would much rather have to make a painful decision and go through a surgical procedure than have access to birth control, it's so much more convenient. And where's our RU486? It's been tested, proven safe, and available in Europe for how long now?

id like to take this opportunity to say my abortion clinic will open for business and drivin a hard bargain when it becomes illegal here. only $2 a forkin

toggletoggle post by Yeti at Mar 8,2006 3:51pm
seriously, what the fuck is happening in this world? i have no belief in the future. i have no desire to "settle down" and start a family and all that happy bullshit, because i have no fucking idea what this world is going to do next. the last thing i want is to bring a child into this world. at my age my dad was married and had 2 kids. all these dumb fucking politicians making the stupidest most asinine laws. they dont tackle anything really important, they just make absurd claims and go after things they dont like, as opposed to things that would benefit the whole. unreal

If this happens in Ma, I'm moving.

If this happens nationally, I will stop having sex.

Anyone who thinks I'm not serious is dead wrong.
