The wide-ranging poll also shows that 58 percent of those serving in that country say the U.S. mission in Iraq is clear in their minds, while 42 percent said it is either somewhat or very unclear to them, that they have no understanding of it at all, or are unsure. Nearly nine of every 10 -- 85 percent-- said the U.S. mission is "to retaliate for Saddam's role in the 9/11 attacks," while 77 percent said they believe the main or a major reason for the war was "to stop Saddam from protecting Al Qaida in Iraq."

How can so many people still be living these lies? These guys are going to feel pretty stupid when they really find out what's going on...

It's called denial. It's much easier to kill people when you believe that they are evil. It's much easier to call people "unpatriotic" or a "liberal cumdumpster" than to acknowledge that you are taking part in murder.

I knew the military was a little dim and brainwashed, you have to be to want to kill innocent people who have done nothing to harm you, but holy shit...

The only people that question the intelligence of our troops are those that have enough time to sit around and think about it. People like Hail the Queef piss me off because they have never done shit for anyone or anything but themselves. This dumb cunt will sit around collecting unemployment and questioning the intelligence of our troops?

Honey, I served in that fucking sandbox shithole, and I didn't have time to sit around wondering about my purpose there. Do us all a favor and just get the fuck outta this country, you're a worthless burden and a pain in the ass. Go be philisophical in some Arab shithole and let me know how long it take them to rape your cunt inside out. Then throw a Burka on your dumb ass and tell you to shut up.

Bottom line is: You don't know shit. Don't ever mention our troops again. Don't ever question their integrity or intelligence. Stop collecting unemployment, take your trendy piercings out, and never, ever procreate. Hopefully, with time.....the thinking that people like you exhibit will die out along with all of the other trends that you so readily embrace.

Sorry I was so harsh, but you fucking pissed me off for real with this ridiculous post.

And no troop kills an innocent without being charged with murder. I don't expect you to know what an R.O.E is but for your info, it is a Rule Of Engagement set down by the Geneva Convention. It is a rule that is sent down from time to time during battle that tells us when we can and cannot fire on another human being. 99% of the time the R.O.E is that we cannot fire unless fired upon. So, like I said.......you have no idea what you are talking about. Stop spewing your garbage, know it all propaganda around this board.

Liar.

I knew hoser would have beef with a post about the troops. what you don't know is HTL is really a recruiter and is trying to rial you up so you re-enlist. iraq needs your meat-bag to stand in front of camel stores and protect them.

toggletoggle post by whiskey_weed_and_women  at Mar 2,2006 3:12pm
hmm samica isnt really a trend starter but she doesnt have piercings and doesnt really follow anything besides getting wasted.

and the integrity and intelligence should come in the same line as having some questions as to what you are doing. im sure at the time youd rather not think about, i know i wouldnt but bashing her for using her rights to speak freely on any matter.

well thats just communist right there, you sir if anyone should leave the country and go back behind the iron curtain. im sure its pretty much like korea and vietnam over in iraq right now just letting what information they want the troops to know as opposed to the actual facts. dont want your army to stop killing the people.

i mean they were freedom fighters right

toggletoggle post by hoser at Mar 2,2006 3:12pm
Oh and please, please go over there like Jill Carroll did. Ask Jill Carroll if the Arabs that abducted her are innocent........But then again, unfortunately.......Jill Carroll is probably dead. Are the men that killed her innocent? You should go prance around over there, calling our troops "dim and brainwashed." Maybe your head will be sawed off while you're still alive. Maybe your beaten and raped body will hang from the power lines.....then you can give me a call and let me know how innocent they are.

really? then which troops are going to be charged with the 100,000+ innocents that have been nurdered in Iraq? And since when are we actually paying attention to the Geneva convention? I believe that document mentions a few things about illegal wars and torture also...
oh wait, this woman and her whole family couldn't have been innocent...

On April 5, 2003, U.S. forces pushed into downtown Baghdad. The next day, they encircled the city and heavy fighting broke out. Bombs leveled entire buildings, tanks thundered down the streets, and the sounds of gunshots reverberated through the air.

There was intense fighting in the neighborhood where Vivian Salim and her family lived. Terrified, she and her husband Izzat grabbed their three children and jumped into the car, trying to escape to a safer place. They were driving down the street when they crossed paths with a U.S. tank. With no warning, the soldiers in the tank began shooting straight at the car. Salim screamed, pleading with them to stop, but the soldiers just kept shooting.

When they finally stopped, they discovered that they had just killed a family of unarmed civilians. Vivian Salim's husband, her 15-year-old son Hussam, her 12-year-old son Waseem, and her daughter Merna, age 6, were all dead.

"I saw the bullets enter my children's heads," she said. "My son was sitting right next to me when the bullet went through his forehead. One minute I was a mother, a wife with a family; the next minute my family was gone."

The soldiers ordered Vivian to leave, and to leave her family's bullet-ridden bodies behind. "After a week of pleading with the Americans, they finally gave the bodies back to us. We took them to the church where we washed them, prayed for them, and then buried them." Vivian Salim now lives with her elderly parents.

The U.S. military never acknowledged their terrible mistake, never apologized to Salim for her loss, and never offered her any financial help. Now, nearly three years later, Salim and six other Iraqi women have been invited by the women's peace group CODEPINK to come to the United States to tell their stories and push for an end to the occupation of their country. The other delegates are doctors, engineers, journalists and humanitarian aid workers. One delegate, Anwar kadhim Jwad, is also a widow whose husband and children were killed by U.S. soldiers at an unmarked roadblock.

But when Vivian Salim traveled across the long and dangerous desert road from Baghdad to Amman, Jordan on February 2 to solicit a two-week visa from the U.S. Embassy, her visa application was rejected. The Consular officer told her that she failed to show convincing evidence that she would return to Iraq. When the CODEPINK staff called the State Department to object, they were told that Salim did not have "sufficient family ties that would compel her to return." Anwar Kadhim Jawad, the other delegate whose family was killed by U.S. soldiers, was also rejected for lack of sufficient family ties.

if Hoser isnt a joke, then you've got some research to do. Pick up some books on modern warfare and "engagement" and find out what soldiers have to say, instead of what is told about what they do. The reason the military still instructs engagement manuevers from WWII and subsquent conflicts, is that things rarely go as planned, and the rulebook many times takes a back-seat to reality and the here and now.

yeah but you're forgetting the important fact, that besides the world wars we decided to take part in. all these wars and lil fights weve gotten into besides fearing of a nuclear fall out from russia till the the mid 80s when we realized they were bankrupt.

none of the wars weve fought after the 50s were needed and only fought to bring "peace and freedom" no money, thats all just greed. youre forgetting the fact that the people who gave us freedom in the first place were fighting for their lives here in america.

not with huge arsonal against old soviet tanks and a pea shooter. you probably bring out more firepower to go hunting then most of these countries have were going to war against.

as an ex solider im sure youll never wanna admit that your country is lying to you and that the president is using his powers to kill off people for his friends gain. hows the food supply going over there for the troops, how their security going. how about just their safety of a country who doesnt want us there and the fact all those troops are about to be standing in the middle of a civil war we helped start.

cause our current admin didnt like the outcome of the "freedom" we gave these people.

last time i remember we helped put saddam and hey who was that other guy we were supposed to track down and kill too. i see his face on all these bumper sticker that say alive or dead but i dont see anyone bring that dood up. damn i forget his name, i mean he supposedly. SUPPOSEDLY only plan out what three or four plays being hijacked what happend to that dood.

hmm i guess dick will have to shoot someone else in the face so we turn our attention way from all these hot issues

So when did Iraq threaten our consumerism, racism, greed, lies, and expendable throw-away society? You think you have to fight to go to the mall, buy a burger and throw the wrapper out the window? Do we still have to fight other countries for the right to have rich white men make personal decisions on what we do with our own bodies? Tell us what plants we can and cannot consume? Inform us that they "own" land and we have to work all our lives for the right to park a house on it, and then it's still not yours unless you pay the government money. They even tell us when we can die. Now that's FREEDOM if I ever saw it.

I'm not really looking for a debate here...but didn't our administration cast aside the Geneva Convention, resulting in those lovely pictures from Abu Gharib (spelled that wrong I think)...who was it that called the Geneva Convention "quaint"??? I don't remember, was it Rummy?

Point being I wouldn't be so sure that your R.O.E.s are always being upheld.

I wouldn't call that propaganda either, everyone's pretty quick to call it so but not so quick to disprove it.

That said I don't think insulting our troops helps anything. Ever.

Hoser, I know your intentions in the military, as well as that of many others are good. You guys have been brought up to be all patriotic, America is the greatest country in the world, land of the free, etc...all that, and you get all riled up to go and beat up anyone on another continent that says otherwise. The problem is, that's all propaganda, it's a big fat fucking lie, and unless people who live here care to do a little research they never think otherwise. I'm just here to tell you, that you've been fed a giant shit sandwich. We all live on the same planet, it was all one large continent at one time, so in fact, if you're born in America, or anywhere else, I hate to break it to you, but you're not fucking special. You had nothing to do with where your parents fucked, or where you popped out of your mom, neither did anyone else. This makes patriotism stupid. I'm proud that I fell out of my mom on this land mass! I'm special, go me! Moreover, you're not fighting for freedom. Everyone is born free to think and do as they please, governments take away that freedom with rules, regulations, laws. So unless the government is run by the people, you have no freedom. You've been fighting for large corportations, they want this war, they've stated this war. Never in history have the people of a country wanted, let alone started a war, it's always been the governments, the rich.

This makes patriotism stupid. I'm proud that I fell out of my mom on this land mass! I'm special, go me!

For real!

I'm very fucking glad that I was born here, but I don't see how this can translate to a sense of pride in any but the simplest of minds.

Telling liberals to get out of the country is another way of saying "I don't want to hear bad things, everything's fine, go away so I can go back to sleep."

And ice cream sucks. Except for Ice Cream sandwiches....mmmm.

Ben & Jerry's Dublin Mudslide is the shiiiznit

It's called Nationalism...or if you wanna observe the blind disregard for other cultures and races...Ethnocentricism.

Come on, you wouldn't want to be hired killer for the same companies that helped plan the invasion of Iraq? Who get corporate welfare from your tax dollars? what's not respectful about that?

And no troop kills an innocent without being charged with murder. I don't expect you to know what an R.O.E is but for your info, it is a Rule Of Engagement set down by the Geneva Convention. It is a rule that is sent down from time to time during battle that tells us when we can and cannot fire on another human being. 99% of the time the R.O.E is that we cannot fire unless fired upon. So, like I said.......you have no idea what you are talking about. Stop spewing your garbage, know it all propaganda around this board.

Liar.

Geneva? Where the hell is that down in Cuba?
