SWARM OF THE LOTUS ANNOUNCE NEW DRUMMER:

SOTL would like to welcome drummer extraordinaire Jimmy Rhodes(ex-Tony Danza Tapdance Extravaganza, current-All Else Failed, yes they are still together) to the fold. For the past month and a half, Jimmy and myself have been working together and things have been going amazing. He is a very talented individual and we welcome him with a warm heart to the SOTL family.

We are going through a reconstruction period right now, putting the band back together to get geared up and for touring and picking up with our regular schedule of things. This is where YOU could possibly come into play. See below:

SWARM OF THE LOTUS ISO NEW MEMBERS:

SOTL is in the process now of finding a new 2nd guitarist and bassist. The following is a list of musts/requirements:

-Must have a professional attitude and work-ethic, as this is something that the current members take seriously as something we want to pursue, take on the road, in the studio, etc.

-Must have pro gear that will hold up to the wears and tears of the road. (Our usual set-up is full-stack for each guitar, 8 x 10 for bass, sometimes two 8 x 10’s but not required)

-Being able to do additional vocals would be awesome but not required

-Must be ready, willing and able to TOUR at least a couple of times a year or more, depending on whatever opportunities arise, with each of these tours lasting anywhere from 1-2 weeks up to 4-5 weeks at a time.

-Must be willing to commit to a regular practice schedule (twice a week usually, for a couple of couple hours each time)

-Must have an enthusiastic, energetic personality to pursue something that isn’t necessarily all that easy to do and this must be realized. If you have tour experience, you understand this already. But this point must be stressed. Bad tours will happen, as they do to all bands, and other unexpected obstacles will come across the path that must be understood as coming with the territory. If you already get this or are willing to accept this, then cool, if not, please do not inquire.

-If you are not from the Baltimore or surrounding areas, you must be willing to relocate.

-Must be funny and willing to put up with Jimmy’s and my own ridiculous sense of humor, haha. It’s all about having a good time anyway.

-Must bring the rock!!

If you think you meet all these requirements, then please inquire via email: sotlrock@hotmail.com

If you are from out-of-state, we might ask you to send a video of your best takes on some of our songs. Get in contact and we can provide an address to which you can mail such a video. On that tip, this is not a dictatorship and we realize that each musician is their own unique animal, with their own individual playing style. Personal interpretation is fine as long as it is evident that you can handle the material. If you would prefer to play our songs exactly as they are heard recorded, that’s cool too and can be taught pretty easily. We even have video-tab available.

Being an aggressive player, as this is the nature of our music, is always a plus. Big, ugly and dirty!! Just bring it, that’s all.

Overall, for whatever incarnation that lies ahead for this band, we are looking towards the future. Meaning, the main focus will be on writing BRAND NEW MATERIAL with the appropriate new members. We want to grow with whoever is going to joining. Although we will be learning one set worth of older, previously released material (approx. 8-9 songs between both of our albums and the 7”). Jimmy and I have actually started working on some new songs and everything is sounding awesome!! We are very excited to bring other people into the game and flesh out the rest of the band. Are you down?

In closing, anybody who is or ever has been in a band that ever wanted to take it further then the basement, you know the score. Please do not inquire half-heartedly. This is an all or nothing kind of a gig. We have our normal lives but this is something we actively pursue, that takes up a good portion of our time and energy because it’s what we love to do. Serious candidates only please.

Bottom line, we want it to be a fun, care-free environment above all, while at the same time taken very seriously in respects of a touring schedule, writing and recording music for future releases, etc. We are hoping to be ready ASAP to get back out on the road sometime later this year.

E-mail: sotlrock@hotmail.com

Additionally, we would like to add the fact that the split with the most recent members (Chris, Jamie, and Nathan is a mutual and amicable one. There are no hard feelings or anything of the sort. We wish them the best of luck with whatever they are going to pursue and are currently pursuing. You can still see them play in the following, local-to-Baltimore bands:

-Quills (Chris's new band: members of Misery Index, Ruiner....awesome stuff!!)

-The Malevoiy(Jamie and Nathan's original band who is still active and playing shows.....amazing band, check them out!!)

Just people on a different path that's all. The immediate assumption is that something would be wrong in us all getting along, which we've heard already and this is simply not the case.

Special thanks and recognition in the SOTL world go to Chris Csar who played in the band for several years, as did Jon-John, and dedicated much of his time and energy to help bring the band to where it is today. We will miss him but understand his reasons for wanting to walk away. It's not easy to be in a band at any caliber, especially with how busy we have been in recent years. Good luck brotha and take care.

love and respect,

Pete/SOTL
