Chuck Schuldiner was taken from us. Hard to believe it's been only 4 years. I have my Death/Control Denied Playlist running on windows media in memoriam of this great musician. I hope you all feel the same for him and his music as I do. Truely a visionary and pioneer for metal.

damn, one of the most influential musicians of our time, gone, not a fighting chance. he is missed, day after day by so many of us.

Chuck's playing was a huge influence on me, and I wish that he were still here composing music today.

damn... All Death/Control Denied here today too, thanks for reminding me Kyle, I completely forgot the date...

Yes, Chuck wrote some of the best metal songs in history, and from everything I've heard was an awesome person. It's a shame I never got to see them live, but I have the music to listen to forever.

Chuck is definitely the biggest influence I've ever had, the reason we tune down a full step, the reason I can't stop stacking fifths on top of fifths in melodic lines...had some of the best riffs, songs, lyrics, etc ever...hands down.

still remember the months leading to his death...checking the emptywords site and e-mail bulletins hoping for some sort of good news.

RIP chuck

YNGWIE MALMSTEEN ON DEATH....

DEATH
"THE PHILOSOPHER"
Individual Thought Patterns, Relativity (1993)

MALMSTEEN: The singer sounds like he's sitting on a toilet seat, pushing a big one. I can't stand it! It sounds like the band can't decide which song to play. This beat changing bullshit -- I don't like it. The guitarist isn't awful; he actually has decent vibrato. But I can't get off on it.

GW: But isn't this similar to what Metallica plays, which you do like?

MALMSTEEN: It is, but it isn't as good. But I like that the bassist is playing frettless. However, the fact that he is playing out of tune isn't so tasty. Also the production is awful; it sounds like it was recorded on a Fostex 4-track.

Yngwie's a cunt, and hasn't done anything original in along time. We already know he can play harmonic minor sweeps at very very fast tempos. Chuck played with something Yngwie never did.....feeling. And for that, Chuck is a much better musician than Yngwie could ever be.
