here is a 9 minute long trailer.. holy shit!
http://www.tv4.se/player/categories.aspx?p...mId=%20&treeId=30141&displayTreeId=

looks pretty decent. I heard there was a spoiler in this, but I've not gotten to the end yet. I can't believe a trailer this good and detailed exists.

is aslan's voice leam neeson?

toggletoggle post by DestroyYouAlot  at Nov 30,2005 9:01am
I CAN'T FUCKING WAIT.

That is all.

toggletoggle post by succubus  at Nov 30,2005 9:25am

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Nov 30,2005 9:38am
I read the book.
there is no worst spoiler to a movie than reading the book.
I watched the video and saw no spoiler.

toggletoggle post by succubus  at Nov 30,2005 9:43am

I'm really hoping you forgot to type "Lovecraft", and he's not reading prepubescent wizard books. But, hey, not that there's anything wrong with that, some of my best friends are... you know. "Like that".

(Actually, I haven't even checked'em out, so I really don't know what I'm talking about and shouldn't be talking shit. But that's never stopped me before...)

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Nov 30,2005 3:35pm
nope, she's talking harry potter.
I need to finish the book before I can see the movies.

toggletoggle post by succubus  at Nov 30,2005 3:44pm

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Nov 30,2005 3:46pm

toggletoggle post by succubus  at Nov 30,2005 3:46pm
is it coming out this weekend?

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Nov 30,2005 4:00pm
no clue. I would like to re-read the book.
I wonder how many of the books this covers.

toggletoggle post by litacore   at Nov 30,2005 4:09pm
Looks like just the first book: Lion Witch Wardrobe

I'm siked that Tilda Swinton is playing the witch. She's one of my idols.

toggletoggle post by succubus  at Nov 30,2005 4:13pm
you would like to do a lot of cool things...usually you don't have time for them...

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Nov 30,2005 4:13pm
whom ever got the part of the wardrobe probably got shafted.

toggletoggle post by Kinslayer at Nov 30,2005 4:15pm
I loved these books when I was really young; they paved the way for me to become a complete fantasy dork and through CS Louis, I found Tolkien...

Too bad they are Christian stories.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Nov 30,2005 4:23pm
it's easy for me to forget and forgive them for being xtian.

toggletoggle post by Midgetstealer at Nov 30,2005 5:08pm
The lion the wothc and the wardrobe is the 2nd book in the series i think there is 6 or 7 total...when i was a wee lad i had them all the first book is called The magicians nephew...I dont know why they started with the second book.It still looks fuckin awesome.

The way the books are numbered now (chronologically by Narnia time) is not the order they were written/released. The Lion, The Witch, And The Wardrobe was the first book published. The Magician's Nephew was the 5th or 6th I think.

toggletoggle post by retzam at Nov 30,2005 7:33pm
And, fun fact, the series has a very strong Christian message.

toggletoggle post by retzam at Nov 30,2005 7:33pm
...I work at a bookstore...

toggletoggle post by my_pretentious_erection   at Nov 30,2005 9:00pm
i just read all of them at the end of spring. CS Lewis rulezzzz

original order is better than chronological. just makes more senssssse.

Did you hear what he said? 'Us lions.' That means him and me. 'Us lions.'

I'll be a happy, happy boy if they take them one book per movie, like they should. And they wouldn't need to be four-hour monstrosities like the Tolkien ones did, either. (Not that I'm complaining, I don't think I went to the bathroom once during all three movies. I'm an addict.) Like I said, I'm just hoping this paves the way for the Prydain Chronicles to get made. (And maybe even some Forgotten Realms shit, that'd be even more nerdalicious.) (If they didn't fuck it up. Badly. Like they'd be sure to do.)

toggletoggle post by Al_Ravage   at Dec 1,2005 12:46am
actually, while you are remaking overwrought judeo-christian influenced fantasys, hollywood, could someone please remake The Omega Man...but keep Charlton Heston in it through the wonders of computer animation

I love in "The Young Ones" when Vyvyan goes into the wardrobe:

IMP (to Ice Queen): Look Majesty! A young faun!
ICE QUEEN (worried): That's not a faun. That's a man-child, a Son of Adam! His presence signal danger.
IMP: It's . . . the prophecy!
ICE QUEEN: Silence! We must question him. (Pleasantly, louder) Hello, little boy, what's your name?
VYVYAN (in Motorhead shirt, stained jeans, and military star embedded in his forehead): Vyvyan!
ICE QUEEN: What a lovely name! Come, sit next to me child.
(Vyvyan swaggers over, sits next to Ice Queen in the Chariot)
ICE QUEEN (holding up plate of sweets): Would you like some Turkish Delight, my child?
Vyvyan opens mouth, ICE QUEEN is repulsed.
ICE QUEEN: Ugh . . . who farted?

I'm surprised you are a narnia fan, what with the Christian messages behind the books. No one can resist a good story I suppose.

toggletoggle post by coldnorthernvengeance  at Dec 1,2005 8:44pm
It is obvious that CS lewis and Tolkien borrow heavily from the pagan mythology.

I can agree with that as far as Tolkien goes, but it's been way too long since I've read the Chronocles Of Narnia to remember anything from it really.

toggletoggle post by arillius   at Dec 1,2005 11:03pm
BBC is amazing.

Narnia looks cool, although i'm not really a fan of many Disney movies..

Lord of the rings is cool.

The Wheel of Time is awesome.!

toggletoggle post by BornSoVile   at Dec 1,2005 11:07pm
Supposedly the makers of the film hired the same firm that marketed "the Passion of the Christ" to handle this one.

toggletoggle post by Al_Ravage   at Dec 5,2005 12:51am
Anthony Zerbe should have been in this movie...if he is still alive

toggletoggle post by Al_Ravage   at Dec 5,2005 12:51am
does Mel Gibson play the lion in this?

toggletoggle post by RustedAngel at Dec 12,2005 11:53am
So, Dane, Kailyn and I went to see this on opening day (saturday) and we were pretty f-ing dissapointed. This was not even in the same ballpark as lord of the rings as far as story and enjoyment not that anyone said it was. Though, I have seen and heard people compare the two movies.

I was impressed with the Lion 'Asland' and how realistic looking he was throughout the movie. The hair on his main was moving very realistically.

I'd give this a 6 out of 10. Save your money and rent it.

toggletoggle post by succubus  at Dec 12,2005 12:06pm
NPR did a feature on the movie and did state:
that the makers of the film hired the same firm that marketed "the Passion of the Christ" to handle this one.
also, rusted angel's review sounds similar to what was said on NPR as well

Wrong.

The AUTHOR C.S. Lewis was well known as a christian writer, but even he went on record saying that the narnia series was NOT about Christ, and was simply intended as a fantasy for children.

He did however publish numerous other christian works, so I can see where you got confused.

toggletoggle post by succubus  at Dec 12,2005 3:17pm
i never read any of the books but have been hearing it has a lot of christian overtones..or is it undertones?

I have a sepia tone oil painting on an oval canvas of Vyvyan. I painted it myself. I'll sell it to anyone who wants it. I'll post pics soon.

I am so fucking tempted... How much, and what are the odds I could get it by Christmas?

that movie ruled.
anyone thinking otherwise is a knob.

toggletoggle post by ArrowHead nli at Dec 17,2005 4:22pm
I saw it on thursday night. Missed the first 10 minutes, but the girl at the theater let us both in for free, so that was pretty awesome.

The movie itself was a little dissapointing. It was good, but nowhere NEAR where I thought it would be. I saw 40 year old virgin later that night, and it was a lot better.

I would of liked it more if it was entirely animals fighting. I need some more cheetah vs rhino combat.

Based on a kids book, as well. One of my favorites. Are you trying to use that as an explanation of why we didn't like it? I love kids movies.

To me, the book was about the KIDS. Their rise to power, the confidence and strength they gain, etc... That was the reason I loved the book as a kid, the idea that an average kid could become something so far beyond average. In my opinion, the movie completely glazes over this transformation, and instead highlights the christ-like nature of the lion. I do think they did attemt to show the change in the oldest brother, with him acting as a poweful warrior in the battles towards the end. However, the sisters and younger brother didn't really develop much at all.
