Track Listing:

2. Leeches
3. Reflect the storm
4. Dead end
5. Scream
6. Come clarity
7. Vacuum
8. Pacing death trails
9. Crawl through knives
10. Versus terminus
11. Our infinite struggle
12. Vanishing light
13. Your bedtime story is scaring everyone

After 2004's Soundtrack to Your Escape, almost every In Flames fan had given up hope that the once great Gothenburg band could ever duplicate their earlier work. Barely using the guitar work of Jesper or Bjorn, the music incorporated so much synth that you'd think they were now a nu-metal band.

Well almost 2 years after the "St. Anger" of thier carrier, In Flames new album is out. Musically it's alot better than the attrocity of STYE, but at the same time there are still too many instances of the band using the "synth" sound that they experimented with on Reroute to Remain. Now it appears that this is a staple of the new In Flames sound.

The album starts off pretty strong, if you like metalcore that is as that is now what the band has become. No more are the orignators of phenomenal harmonies. The vocal work by Anders hasn't changed since STYE, and that is what really makes the album suffer as there is no real growth vocally, though while it's a regression for the band musically (backwards towards Colony/Clayman), the vocals and lyrics tend to ruin the songs as they could be enjoyable.

Though while I didn't have high hopes set for the album, I am glad to hear that they've gone back to the sound before STYE and Reroute, but at the same time I'd perfer to have the old In Flames back, the one that came up with great tracks like Ever Dying, Behind Space, December Flower, Dead God in Me. Those days are done now though, and though while this album isn't ground breaking, or their best it's defenitly a step back in the right direction for the Swedish Boys.

Rating: 7/10

I checked out the last one at the mall last year on those funky fye headphones. Every entire song sounds like a mid-period In Flames intro. Minus ever getting started, or not sucking.

I stopped thinking In Flames was awesome when they covered Metallica and took out the solo section altogether. Lame

Whoracle is their best, Jester Race is awesome, Colony and Clayman are both good. Thats it.

they only brought back their old style because they realized it's trendy in america to sound that way now. i really don't care to hear this. if someone burned me a copy, i'd take it, but i probably wouldn't listen to it much and wouldn't buy it.

This album almost completely sucks but there are one or two good songs on there like "Versus Terminus" and I forget the other.
