cryptopsy: once was not - by far the worst vocals i've ever heard. the production is all drums, the sense of chaos is gone, bring back disalvo, some parts/transitions sound really forced and therefore sloppy....
aborted: archaic abatoir - has a few really good songs, but is a serious regression from the 'goremaggedon' album, which is one of my favortites.
biggest disappointment for me was.....
CROWBAR: LIFESBLOOD FOR THE DOWNTRODDEN.... what the fuck were they thinking!? this album is fucking aweful. and crowbar is one of my top 5 favorite bands ever.... i still love their other records though (w/ the exception of 'equilibrium' and a couple of their earlier recordings), 's/t', 'broken glass', 'odd fellows rest', and 'sonic excess....' are fucking masterpieces. i don't know what happened on this album.

Heretic came out in '03. It's not as bad as Domination, but it sounded rushed, underproduced and packed with filler songs.
I will agree with the Cryptopsy comment. Disalvo is god. Too bad Lord Worm never drank himself to the point of alcohol poisoning.....there's still time though. |

Lord Worm just doesnt fit with Cryptopsy once they went more technical. I've heard rumors that he wanted the band to head more towards black metal, back in the day. Fuck that. Now who crushes Cryptopsy? Neuraxis. They are ahead by many. |

'Cryptopsy - Once Was Not' was by far the most disappointing album of the year. There are things I like about it and I think it's awesome in alot of ways, but vocals/production/some poor songwriting annoy the hell out of me.

the first couple of times i heard the new opeth i was kind of on the fence about it(i liked the grand conjuration and ghost of perdition right off the bat), but then the songs started getting stuck in my head and i bought the cd, now i listen to it regularly |

The most dissapointing album for 05 was definitly Judas Priest-Angel of Retribution.Second would be Kreator-Enemy of God.Third Paths of Possesion(dont remember the album title).And last Dew Scented-Issue IV. |

i was disappointed by the new arcturus. not a bad album, but the music isn't as adventurous and quirky as usual and simen's vocals get really annoying.
the production on the new sigh was shitty, but i liked the songs.
the songs i heard from the new burst album made me not want to get it so i haven't. |
