yes, Kenny is 'booking the show' but the palladium seems to be running it. First off there is no sucking off going on, we've never asked him to play anything, he's come to us. We don't even ask to get paid (except gas $) and for the last show we played at the palladium we got $100 which is more than we'd usually get. Until we're fucked over directly by someone I'm not going to stop playing their shows unless my entire band comes to a general agreement. Does anyone else book shows at the palladium?????????? besides Scott Lee? Because e-mailing him is like e-mailing yourself.

I think it's unfortunate some bands would rather step over each other in order to play a shitty sounding club that's all ages. I can't believe people still chase the carrot he dangles in front of them despite the fact that he's fucked over anyone and everyone he's been "worked" with. I think it's unfortunate that people would rather help this asshole than stand as one with each other. I think it's unfortunate that people feel so desperate they have to work with him. I think it's unfortunate that I am not going to this show.

My reasons for being "upset" with Porphyria about this show,
A) They have repeatedly worked with Kenny despite several bands trying to abolish him from the scene.
B) When Kenny fucked over all the local bands,Blue (money for PA) at the Neuraxis show - I was persisently bugging Kenny to pay up, their singer Tim told me to "knock it off" because "everytime he says he'll pay porphyria, he does".
C) Porphyria could make a stand being one of the bigger local bands on that bill, but instead they are more concerned about playing the show instead of taking a stand against this scum.

I have nothing personal against the music or members of Porphyria, I just think it's a shame they keep working with this scum bag. I can't believe people like being lied to repeatedly, ripped off excessively and controlled by someone who knows NOTHING about the scene/metal. I think it's a fucking shame that bands still feel desperate enough to work with him.
Yes, Vital Remains is a great act to play with. Would I like to play with them? Yes, I would be honored. But under these circumstances, any support for the promoter of this show is a direct disservice to many individuals that have put years of hard work and money into particuarlly the Boston scene. It's an insult to the integrity of this area that people work with him. I hope BMR and Skulltoboggin won't be pulling shit like this in the future, I know they're both young bands, but you guys caught incredible breaks getting on the show-you do know that the reason you guys are on is so Kenny and take advantage/use you at his command.

Why does every thread posted on RTTP turn intoa soap opera? Just a couple things I would like to say.
First off, we were offered to play this show and we accepted, no one was stepped over or disrspected or anything of that nature nor did we did "suck anyone off" to get this show.
Secondly, to say we are "disrespecting" other bands by playin this show is ridiculous. Bottom line is this, my band is my band and it comes before any other band. If anyone here tells you they look out for someone else's band before their own is full of shit. I also find it to be extremley homosexual to label us as the scapegoat for supporting scum. When you call up Vital Remains and Incantation to let them know that they are "supporting scum" as well you can come talk to me.
and lastly, we have worked very hard to get where we are today and we're not even close to where we want to be, we do this because we love to do it. I find it very insulting that the people we chill with at shows and the bands we play/have played with in kids basement start downing us for stupid ass politcal "scene" crap. It's a fucking show for christs sake, they're put on so people can go and enjoy them. If you think one kid that books shows is single-handedly going to destroy your entire "metal" scene in Mass your just as loopy as he his.

This is in response to Josh's statement above- To me it seems like you think that we had to get on our knees to get this show. We, just like Porphryia, have never asked Kenny to play anything, he always asked us. In our eyes it was a no-brainer, the thought of not playing this for whatever reason never crossed our mind. I understand your argument and you've made this same argument to me once before. But you need to understand that we're not intentionally spitting on yours or anyone elses face by playing this. As far as we're concerned this is an oppurtunity to get more people to hear our music, I don't care about money and I sure as shit don't care about helping Kenny. The only people we're helping in this whole ordeal is ourselves. Do we know what we're getting ourselves into? Yes, this isn't the first time we've worked with Kenny, same as Porphyria and a lot of other people on here, yourself included. We've had our moments with the kid and we're sure as shit not friends with the kid. He happened to book a pretty solid show, with some bands that all of us would be more than honored to play with. I guess the main point in this goes back to my previous assumption, that you think that we had to suck Kenny off for this. That is certainly not the case. This is a big oppurtunity for any band, we feel fortunate to be a part of it regardless of who the promoter is. I'm not talking shit or anything, and as I said I understand your argument and I go into this situation with an air of caution. I don't plan on getting paid for this show so Kenny can't fuck us financially. The only way he could truelly fuck us over is to renage on his word and remove us from the show, in which case I'll admit defeat and you can give us a nice "I told you so" But until that day comes, and trust me it probably will someday, we're going to go with what we see is the best decisions for us as a band regardless of others opinions. And again, I'm not talking shit to you or disrespecting you in anyway, if that's how I come off I apologize.

I am sure the Palladium handles things alot of more responsibly then some hall show or even the place where Neuraxis played. I don't really see Vital Remains or Incantation (who both probably have contracts) getting screwed over. If I was in Porphyria I would definately jump at this show if it was offered, regardless of if Goratory didn't get paid from some hall show (and that hall shows cost probably ran well over 1000 dollars and Kenny probably lost money on it). Porphyria would probably not get paid for this gig whether Kenny was running it or not, Bane of Existence has played at the Palladium a few times and never saw a dime.

Alright, as far as not getting paid by Kenny at shows, true. Kenny has never given me a dime as far as playing goes. He has however let me, any my band, play at shows. He gave us a chance to get on some good shows so thats cool. Never got a dime...never asked for a dime. Thats just how the REAL scene goes.

As for Porphyria. God forbid a GREAT band in the local scene try to go out there and do something for themselves. These guys are talented as fuck and have something that a lot of guys in this scene would kill to be apart of. They get on board a fucking awesome show that can really help them out. So what!? Anyone trying to put this show down, or put some bad publicity on it should just bite their lip. Not everything is about making a buck. Besides, last time I saw Porphyria at the Palladium they killed...and last time I saw Vital Remains at the palladium...was...well, I never seen them there because no one could book them and have them be able tos how up. as of this morning... this is all news to Vital Remains, not just this one, but ANY US dates, they have not agreed to any of them yet and for that matter thier drummer is going home to Cali as soon as thier European tour is over. They have no discussed playing here and never really even had any intentions too... and this is the conversation i had with Anthony as of 1pm this afternoon, i should have more details soon, ill try and keep it updated.

this goes for our show in Conn. with them as well, and the talk of the RI show... just figured id post this so people werent bitching if they dont actually happen. The booking company seems to be thowing the band on events before even consulting them.

i was working on the r.i. show but couldn't come to an agreement with the booking agent & was told many didffernt things along the way before i finally decided not to do the show. from what i was told, tony's girlfriend was talking to the agent & relating things back to tony over in europe & thats how the shows were being booked. obviously theres alot of mis-communtication betweeen them & thats why i never confirmed it for r.i. sounds pretty sketchy to me...

i emailed the booking agent about vital remains not knowing about the shows & his reply was that he deals with tony & tasha(tony's girlfriend) & they both know about the shows for ct. & ma. according to him both of the shows are happening. i dont know for sure whether its true or not but we'll have to wait & see..
