I got home just now and saw an e-mail from Livoti offering to guestlist me. Fuck off. |
SHOW WAS FUCKING AWESOME! |
The show was amazing, Sabbat is incredible live. They would say some shit in japanese and the crowd went berserk |
I thought my fucking face was gonna get sliced in half
I'm working on pictures... swamplord is giving the o-face in one of the sabbat pictures |
ok, I just copied it off the events page |
Oh man, I think this was the best show of the year. |
it seems that every show now adays is the best show. |
seriously amazing show. what a time. if you didnt go to this show you are very very very un-metal. sabbat fucking killed everything.
where do i get one of those gay outfits the bass player was wearing?
g-strings and metal, a bad combo.
that being said i wish i had money to go. |
yeah. what he^ said. haha |

Yes! this was such a good show.
The only thing that sucked about it was that I missed superchrist and was told how great of a set they played. gay
Sabbat=fucking amazing |
I, too missed Superchrist which was lame...
Sabbat absolutely killed though. |
It also sucked that the Chasm had such technical dificulties. That lead guitarist had to end up using someone elses amp and you could hear it just wasnt working out for them. They still managed a halfway decent set and the crowd seemed to dig it but last time I saw them it was 100x better... |
Oh and did anyone end up with my Witchtrap CD? I dont know what the fuck I did with that... |
I had never heard the Chasm before, and I was definitely pleasantly surprised.
he took my booze! i was just trying to be a nice guy!
hahaha oh man what a great fuckin' time. And on top of the great show that it was, the door guy gave me a wristband and i got to drink. yay me.

Bastard Ben, I wish I could have been too hung over today and couldn't have gone to class |
Such a good show... Every set was good, and the crowd reactions seemed to get better and better with each band. SUPERCHRIST just hit the road and were stoked as hell with the response they got - they'll be back in 6 months or so. |
dude, that guy is wearing leather underwear, ha! what does this band sound like...im going to assume death metal but im not sure. |
I did it for you tom.
I know that you don't have as much time to find gay-jack-porn |
Good show. Turns out I could've stayed for the whole show.
There's a shot in there with me looking like a retard on crack. It's rather funny. |
I found my CD. I was just drunk this morning when I was trying to find it. |
yea i was still drunk when i woke up this morning
Dimentianon - actually impressed me quite a bit, first time seeing and hearing them, reminded me alot of Goatwhore.
Superchrist - fucking great! Yoko, Aim Low, Hurry Up and Bleed, great set! New shit sounds awesome!
Watchmaker - what can I say that hasn't been said before? John Farley got cut good on his pinky knuckle!
The Chasm - first time seeing/hearing, FUCKING AWESOME! Reminded me of some Krisiun with Diabolic at times. Why does the 2nd guitarist look so familar? I need a disc by these dudes, hope they come back soon!
FUCKING SABBAT - AAAHHHHHHH!!!!!! FUCKING AWESOME, AWESOME SET. THEY ARE MAYBE THE BEST PERFORMERS I'VE EVER SEEN. SO MUCH ENERGY AND CHARISMA. I WOULD PAY 20 BUCKS FOR 2 HOURS OF THEM. MION'S HILL WAS AWESOME. JAPAN ALWAYS SEEMS TO BE TWO STEPS AHEAD OF EVERYONE ELSE! A THOUSAND HAILS TO SABBAT!!!!
Seriously, it's rare for me to be captivated from start to finish at a show. You should hate yourself for missing one of the best METAL shows to ever come to the North East. If I wasn't busy or at least had money, I'd be in Montreal right now checking out SABBAT!!! FUCKING GREAT!!!
I need some fucking Witch Trap! |

that guy fuckin sucked!!! what the fuck????? goddamn tuff-guy meathead mongoloid fuck.
that was fucking funny though, i just remember in slow mo, you taking a sip rounding the corner and the dude totally ganked yah. then you threw up, fucking great times! |
oh yea i did throw up. forgot about that. |
ok, I wrote a big review for the first 3 bands... but then I lost it, lame. so here's my resurrection what I thought.
oh, there was a lady calling serge satan too.
dementianon: this band was, by the end, much better then when I saw them at valentines. very good NYDM with a touch of slam. the beginning was missing the vocals hard. I got BSV to yell for them to be turned up, but then they didn't get fixed for another song or so. I thought their set was pretty long, they got 1/2 which was awesome for a 5 band show. the singer kind of ran around not knowing what to do and double timing the headbanging. reminded me of when martin was on stage with cryptopsy years ago on the first tour. also, I thought that is dehumanized ever needed a singer in a pinch, this guy could probably fill in.. I'm not saying he would replace jon, but I think he could do a decent job.
superchrist: I walked in to thier set and it was really echoy. I thought that their might be a lack of bodies there so the sound wasn't absorded, but was bouncing around and empty room. I spun the corner coming in and there were plenty of people there, but it was still echoy. there was a bunch of feed back on the stage. some sound girl went up after a song or two and swapped the mics. then it sounded better. they played right to the 1/2 hour, but it seemed like their set was still short.
watchmaker: at some point during their set, mark said "one more" he was obviously lying cause they played for like another 15 minutes after that. the whole front of the crowd was pumping their fist in the air. I couldn't get good pictures of the other side of the stage.. it seemed like they were turned around ass facing the crowd for almost the whole set.
chasm, the: I've seen these guys a few times and they were awesome. this was by far the best show I've ever seen them play. high energy and a great performace over all. the some how, they are now located in chicago.. I don't know if that was a joke or not. One of the best parts when the latino bands come around is all the latino metalheads come out to support them. I sort of wish these kids would come out to all the shows, but whatever. I didn't really understand what daniel would say in spanish into the mic, but when he did, the crowd would yell back spanish.
josh: the bassist was george velaetis from some band called DARKNESS ETERNAL.. I don't know them.
sabbat: when they first came out, I thought "wow, how funny", two asian dudes. one with girl's clothes and one with a leather thong. then they started to play and I thought to my self, man, this sucks. the first song or so had horrible vocals, guitar work that didn't match anything that was going on on the stage. I really thought to myself, I'm out of here. but after that, they got really good. the singing evened out and the guitar came into the mix. the bass player spoke like 3 words (guitar, drummos, etc..) of what I think was english so he just yelled japanese non-sense and people cheered. they sounded a lot like some band and I can't put my finger on it... it was the way that the guy dressed like an 80's chick was singing. |
Do people actually take Sabbat seriously dressed like that? I know I wouldn't...I woulda laughed so hard I probably would have left the show early |
yeah The Chasm moved to chicago a few years ago because they wanted to be closer to do US shows or something i think... they sound pretty much on album like they did live pre-amp problems...I'd place them in a similar vein to Necrophobic, Sacramentum, and Dissection if I had to |
people love japanese bands no matter how shitty they are. |
Yeah, I did hear some Sacramentum in there to actually now that I think about it. |
It was fucking great. Any severe Sabbat fans here that could name what songs they played?
Of course people take SABBAT seriously, they've been playing their original brand of Far East Blacking Metal for over 20 years and have flown the flag of Metal loud and proud AND maintained a high level of qualit throughout. If they had not taken such a conservative approach to the manufacture and distribution of their material from very early on, I think they would be held on the same level as bands like SLAYER, CELTIC FROST, BATHORY, etc.
And I'm sorry to disappoint, but I don't think Gezol spoke any Japanese onstage haha... His English is just THAT bad. I only made out every third thing he said or so, but I just yelled after everything, his dialogue is always pretty righteous. |
they sounded like slayer and dark angel mixed together.
good shit. |

get on aim, I want to send you the full-sized version and i can't really do that through myspace |
For a moment there as I watching Sabbat I felt like I warped back to the year 1985... Twas a night I won't forget anytime soon. |
you can also buy CDs directly from The Chasm directly, they distro their own shit for $12 or less postage paid |
Or you can buy it in person from me, no waiting, for $12.00. |
You'd figure that Sabbat would release this set for a live album since the Middle East records everything and the fact that Sabbat has so many live albums. the Brooklyn and San Francisco shows were released... |
I still kick myself for missing this show. |
still one of the best shows I've ever been to. |
Oh man this show was a blast! |
what a perfect show for them to gimme a wristband and let me drink. |
