advice:
fill up today..prices are gonna rocket tomorrow....

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Aug 28,2005 6:34pm
why?

toggletoggle post by succubus  at Aug 28,2005 6:46pm
fill up on your way home if you can

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Aug 28,2005 7:42pm
what do you know that we dont?

toggletoggle post by succubus  at Aug 28,2005 8:50pm
Katrina
and i don't mean my "twin"

Oil is going to take a huge jump tomorrow due to Katrina. The perception of the rigs being out of service, not to mention their are a few refineries in the area where the 'cane is going to hit, is going to blow the per barrel price through the roof. We could see $70+ per barrel this week yielding gas price hikes nationwide.

toggletoggle post by brian_dc  at Aug 28,2005 8:57pm
anyone else getting this e-mail thing, the idea to not buy gas from the biggest gas company, exxon/mobil/esso, in order to force some sort of pricewar so that they'd have to lower prices to compete

it's actually a really bad idea economically, but if enough people decided to be selfish for a little bit it would make the shit cheaper for a little bit.

toggletoggle post by succubus  at Aug 29,2005 2:16pm
ok so tomorrow it's gonna reach $3 a gallon someone who works for a gas company said it..so fill up ASAP...tomorrow will be hell

toggletoggle post by BSV at Aug 29,2005 2:19pm
yeah! the gulf is the largest producer of oil in the US...also 40% of the seafood in the US comes from there, so expect those prices especially shrimp to rise real soon.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Aug 31,2005 7:54am
$2.99 a gallon!

toggletoggle post by succubus  at Aug 31,2005 7:56am

if so..."i told you so"

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Aug 31,2005 8:02am

toggletoggle post by DreamingInExile   at Aug 31,2005 8:07am
damn... those hybrid's are looking nice now... fucking gas prices

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Aug 31,2005 8:29am
I'm driving one.
but I've done 561 miles on this tank so I only have 100 miles left.

toggletoggle post by RustedAngel at Aug 31,2005 8:39am
I heard that it's still not worth getting a hybrid in the long run. The batteries end up dying and are not covered, so you have to buy new ones $$$$$.

but they are still looking good at the moment. haha.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Aug 31,2005 8:47am
the batteries in my hybrid are covered to 80,000 or 10 years.

toggletoggle post by Mess at Aug 31,2005 8:53am
i heard on the news the other day someone filled up and drove away and the attendent went outside to try to stop him but he got runover and killed.

toggletoggle post by succubus  at Aug 31,2005 9:12am
it's "not worth it" if you don't drive...

aaron and i did the math and it's definitely worth it given all the driving he does

toggletoggle post by anonymous at Aug 31,2005 11:50am
too late, its $2.80 today. i bet friday it will hit over $3

i tell ya

toggletoggle post by soloman   at Aug 31,2005 11:51am

WOW this girl's husband just called her

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Aug 31,2005 2:14pm
a horse will cost you $5K-10K per year for food/shoes/vets.
you will have to deal with big plops.
yourdistance radius would be the same (time wise too) as a good road bike.
all those virgins loosing their virginity on horseback.

see my post aaron...that's down the street from us

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Aug 31,2005 2:25pm
which place?
if that's at comby's that's mega $$$
if that's down near exeter, that's expected

toggletoggle post by succubus  at Aug 31,2005 2:33pm
she said this morning the comby's was 2.80 when she left for work
but a few minutes ago her husband called her and said it's the place next to marco's pizza and the country store

oh and at bj's it's 2.65

toggletoggle post by Ma_Dukes  at Aug 31,2005 2:38pm

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Aug 31,2005 2:41pm
and you would only be able to go about 20 miles from your house.
you would also need stables whereever you went and to pay someone to watch the horse so cow-pokes and rasslers won't take it.

Filling up your tank before prices rocket further will just make them more money. If for three days no one bought gas and walked, used busses, or rode a bike than the price of gas would reduce drastically. And that doesn't mean everyone fill thier tanks before that three days, it means stop using it.
The hippies were right

xmikex I heard just a minute ago that the prices will stay up for at least the NFL season if not a month or so longer... it's kind of funny they used that as a timeline but that's what they said... In Atlanta gas is at $6.07 a gallon!

On the news today they said some of the pipelines that were down are operational now, and prices will return to normal gradually.

toggletoggle post by brian_dc  at Sep 1,2005 8:07pm
they'll be "normal" which is still going to be abnormally high when you look at it on a long-term perspective. This was a good excuse to jack up prices so that the drop down to what would usually be insane will seem like a blessing to us.

it's all headgames

Yeah I don't see how a disaster that was supposed to result in a 15 cent price increase resulted in some stations jumping 80 cents over night. It's not like a hurricane hit the middle east, Venezuela, Russia, Alaska, and Canada halting production worldwide. This is just an excuse to get to 4 bucks a gallon before the holiday travel season.
