Any other lefties here? Singers don't count. I play guitar, bass, and drums lefty.
I pay WAY too much for my gear.

Seriously, why the fuck is it more expesive to bolt a double kick pedal one way or the other?

Why doesn't anyone know how to cut a left handed nut?

Why are all the left handed guitars and basses in EVERY store out of tune?

And why can't I ever work the fucking can opener?

Anyone else?

The reason it costs more isn't actual labor dificulties, it has to do with numbers.

A company that sets up an import line of guitars spends hundreds of thousands of dollars on one single CNC machine for that one single model, the way they pay for the machines and eventually make profit is by selling the guitars.

Since cnc machines don't have a button you push for 'left or right' versions, each right or left needs a seperate machine and that means it needs a whole seperate production line and assembly line.

Let's assume a company sells 2000 right handed guitars of one model (wich in this case is enough to pay off the cnc machine and make profit) and struggles to sell 400 left handed guitars (wich will probably barely pay for the employees running the equiptment, let alone the equiptment itself). It's not in the best economic interest of the company now is it?

So what's the best way for companies to be able to afford the equiptment that makes your left handed gear? Charging more for it.

It's expensive to keep a guitar line running, so if the right handed models that they can make 2000 of sell, than 50$ for each sale they make can go to paying off the machine. But in the case of lefties, since they sell so many less, they might need to jack up the price as much as a few hundred dollars just to keep that line running.

Sorry man, learn to be a luthier or learn to play right handed.

There was an ancient culture in newzealand call Masagn. The masagn were all left handed and were trained to fight that way form birth.

Since the entire fighting world at the time was right handed, the righties were used to fighting other right handed people.

When the Maori who were practically all righties fought them, the masagn destroyed them since the massagn were used to fighting right handed people but the Maori never encountered such a strange fighting form...

Long story short, at least your statistically tougher than a bunch of other people.

There shouldn't be any problems as far as kick pedals. I've never seen a double kick pedal that couldn't be converted to lefty fairly easily.

Most higher end pedals can't be converted.

Pulses pedals can, I know that.

But for all the ones that can't be converted, the lefty will cost more because the company doesn't sell tons of them, so they only make a few.

I have pearl eliminators, cost me more. It appears to me that they COULD be converted very easily, but the company chose to leave one bolt off so they could charge more for lefties.

I understand about major guitar manufacturers. You're paying for the extra molds, dies, or labor to make that run of lefties.

Did I mention the best part is when you walk into a store, see 5 million guitars (righty) you'd kill to play, and a handful of shitty ibanez roadstars (lefty) that you actually can play.
