I don't buy that at all.
If there was any evidence the neighbors are lying the cops would've presented it.
The cops knew he had a weapon permit. They had also made controlled buys from the guy, so that means someone ratted. Probably someone trying to save his own ass. Whoever ratted would've known that the guy had guns and God only knows what the rat told the cops about the guy.
Between all that the cops were probably all pumped up for some violence and didn't want to give the guy time to arm himself by announcing themselves.
Obviously, that is all speculation but until more evidence is shown, that is the most plausable situation.

Weapon permits are evil. They just gives the cops one more reason to kill you.

my opinion is somewhat biased too, because i have no sympathy for drug dealers.

I find it weird when people will do drugs, but be against a "drug dealer".

Well, that works out well because I have no sympathy for cops.
If I had a ton of money I would send donations to the canteen accounts of everyone in jail for cop killing.

The guy had 2oz of weed in his entire apartment.
That's a very very small amount. Not much of a dealer. Definately nothing to call the SWAT team about. These cops fucked up bigtime.
I hope that kid's mother raises Hell until those cops lose their jobs.

it's like that 90yo guy who got stormed in on a shoot up by SWAT on a jail-house-tip. they paid his family off really nicely.
thankfully, NH has no "friendly officer" laws like some places (mass, I'm looking your way).
