Uhh if you haven't wasted your money yet, consider this your warning. It is NOT good. Just looking out.

i haven't heard a good review yet. i don't think there's anything really special about the original either.

toggletoggle post by succubus  at Apr 18,2005 6:24pm
i saw the original the other day on tv..i hadn't seen it in a while.
the actual man that that happened to used to date aaron's mom long ago, before he married the woman he bought the house with

toggletoggle post by PatMeebles at Apr 18,2005 6:25pm
The only part redeeming about it was at the end where (spoiler!) the girl was yanked under the floor

toggletoggle post by PatMeebles at Apr 18,2005 6:25pm
Well, that attempt at a font size failed miserably.

toggletoggle post by dreadkill  at Apr 18,2005 6:26pm
jeepers crow, that's a crazy coincidence. i wonder how true the story of the house really was. i don't believe in ghosts or any of that crap, so i can't see the movie being true. i believe the guy murdered his family, but that's all i believe.

It was also pretty lame how much they overused that whole abrupt loud noise idea to make you jump. What's with every new horror movie using that way too much. And why the fuck did it have a happy ending. Like, the only part that was somewhat decent was when he axed his wife. But of course that was a dream he was having. I want my money back.

luckily i got to see it for free last night; i went in very skeptical, but i'd say it was better than what i thought it was going to be. some of the 'scary' and 'gory' parts i liked, but overall it wasn't consistent enough and nothing to make it amazing. i got a kick out of the guy in the bathroom when the little kid went to pee.

toggletoggle post by AUTOPSY_666   at Apr 18,2005 7:52pm
I heard from 2 different people that it was actually good.

toggletoggle post by dugoxistance at Apr 18,2005 7:53pm
I liked it. probably more than the original (which doesn't say much about the original).

toggletoggle post by BobNOMAAMRooney nli at Apr 18,2005 7:58pm
I hated the original but this looks even dumber, it's been ring gayed up with the creepy little kids and all the blue.

From what I've read, the only "true" basis of that movie is the guy who killed his entire family in his home and then killed himself. I'm pretty sure the fiction starts where the new family buys the house, so I'm not sure who Aaron's mom dated.

toggletoggle post by Abbath at Apr 18,2005 11:35pm
i'm going to see it cause i love blowing my money on stupid things

toggletoggle post by AUTOPSY_666   at Apr 19,2005 12:40am
It made over $23 Million this weekend!

like i said she dated the guy...i did noot see the remake so i don't know if they focus on the man who kills his family, but that's not who i am talking about.

i mean the guy who moves in after and have all the weird shit happen to them

Yeah, that's the part that didn't actually happen.

I watch the original at about once a week and the new one didnt really measure up. Honestly it wasnt as bad as I was expecting it to be. It was bad but it wasnt THAT bad. Thereve been worse movies made. But then again this is coming from someone who saw it for free. I wouldnt pay money to see this movie.

I liked it. Not from any innovative or commending standpoint, but it carried my boredom over for about an hour and 45 minutes.

toggletoggle post by powerkok   at Apr 19,2005 12:11pm
This movie sucked huge balls.
Plain and simple.
Yeah it had cool parts, but so do every other faggot peice of shit movie out there.
Fuck this movie, fuck new school horror movies.
They suck.
Fin.

toggletoggle post by powerkok   at Apr 19,2005 12:12pm
actually the movie is 89 minutes long.
not even an hour and a half.

toggletoggle post by niccolai   at Apr 19,2005 12:51pm
yea but there were really long comercials before it, one of wich was for doom 3.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Apr 19,2005 2:16pm
George Lutz is the guy my mom dated. he's the one that bought the house with his wife where "weird shit" happened.

if you read the "truth" about it, the movie and book have a lot of things that didn't happen... but the jist of the story:
George & Mrs. Lutz move into the house and bad things happened.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Apr 19,2005 2:16pm
then they moved out.

toggletoggle post by Christoph   at Apr 19,2005 3:19pm
Yeah. Movies based on true stories are just that. They aren't always 100% accurate. As a matter of fact, they never are. I mean the Texas Chainsaw Massacre is based on a true story, but if you look into the whole Ed Gein story, it's pretty far off. It sure made for an entertaining movie though. The new Amityville Horror sure did not.

So I was researching the true Amityville horror: the defeos murders.
Turns out, and this is crazy, but my grandfather on my Dads side, was the warden at Greenhaven prison, where Butch Defeo is incarcerated, at the time of his arrest.
Thats pretty fuckin neat, also I used to live across a feild from Greenhaven in Stormville NY....So, in essence I was neighbors with Butch Defeo.

thats weird, yer mom dated him,.
They are full of shit tho.
Theres been at least 3 other families there since, with NO strange stuff happening to ANY of them.
And the house IS still there, but they changed the number supposedly to deter tourists, however, a mapquest search, some real pics of the house (newly renovated...no more 'eye' windows...they were replaced with regular windows), and my knowledge of the area, I could find it.
We may go do that this summer for shits and giggles.
