People on relapse love watchmaker. The 500 post rule was only "enacted" because people would make accounts for the sole purpose of posting once advertising their shitty local band no one ever heard of. Bands like Watchmaker deserve attention, reglardless of the post count. |

i got an e-mail today saying that the owner cancelled this show. no reason was given. i left a message for the booking guy so hopefully he calls me back today so i can figure this shit out. He said he is trying to get Evo's (which is right down the street) for the same date. I'll let you know as soon as i know.... |

i talked to the booking guy today. he said the show was cancelled because the owner is mad that not enough people have been coming to the shows he's been booking. I think he may not work there anymore. anyway, evo's is booked for friday, so my last course of action is to talk to the owner himself and politely tell him how unprofessional it is to cancel a show 5 days before its supposed to happen. I went there today but he wasn't in. I left a message with the bartender guy to have him call me. He hasn't called back, so I will go there again tomorrow after work. I'd say there is a 95% chance of cancellation here, but i figure i can give it a shot by talking to the owner. I'll let everyone know tomorrow...

so john tried to go and talk to the owner again, the owner wasnt there, john was told he would hear back from him by 5:30 today, and still no call at the moment.

FUCK ME,
After getting no help from the booking guy and no call back after 5 tries from the owner, i give up trying to get this show back on. Especially where it is Wednesday and the show is Friday. I tried to move it to Evo's but they are booked.
Basically the only answer i got for the show being cancelled is that the booking guy's shows weren't drawing well enough to appease the owner, and he isn't booking there anymore. This apparently was the only show that he had left on the calendar, and the owner decided that instead of letting the show go on and getting people into the club (between Watchmaker's draw and the chelmsford/lowell townies that would have come, not to mention all the flyers i handed out, this show could have easily drawn 75-100 people), he would just close the club instead.
I feel bad for the people i gave to flyers to at Kreator, Cryptopsy and other places who don't check this board that will show up anyway. But it will be ironic when he sees all the people that show up to the show that he cancelled because "not enough people would show up".
Sorry to everyone who was playing/coming to this show. Apparently I should leave the show booking to others... |
