Motorhead's an incredibly loud blues band.

Blues-based you shithead. You ask Lemmy, the singer from Motorhead, what Motorhead is, he'll tell you a loud ass blues rock band. Now, about this "blues" thing.... I'd like to subscribe to your newsletter.

Wow, sorry if I offended you? Saying a band is "blues" and saying they are "blues-based" is completely different. How was I to know that when you say blues you mean blues-based? I love you by the way.

Tough one...but let's do a quicky
Motorhead
Pink Floyd
Tangerine Dream (and side projects)
Joy Division
Bauhaus
Pixies
The Who
The Rolling Stones
Ramones
Buzzcocks
The Damned
tons of UK punk
tons of Scandinavian hardcore, almost as much as metal
some noise as well...

Retzam: Motorhead is metal in their attitude and because every fucking metalheads like them (well, almost), but otherwise it's a very loud rock band. Most of their influences are blues, I don't know if you ever listen to Inferno, that very last song "Whorehouse blues" they do it incredibly well...

toggletoggle post by retzam at Nov 30,2004 10:34pm
Oh ok, I didn't realize they were rock, I always just thought they were metal. It makes sense now though, cause I think they started in the early 70s.

toggletoggle post by BestialOnslaught  at Dec 1,2004 12:03am
There is a lot of Metal and Punk in MOTORHEAD, and I can understand why they could fall into either category, but overall I think Rock And Roll or Hard/Heavy Rock is the best way to describe them... Some riffs/songs are really heavy or punky, but they've pretty much stuck to a straight up Rock and Roll formula, the basic Blues Rock scales, etc.

toggletoggle post by swamplorddvm  at Dec 1,2004 3:58pm

They are from the New Market, NH area. Iron Lung's the leader singer, Paul Jarvis? in the bassist. Seen them many times, last time at Sharp Shooters in Nashua, NH. They joke around and say they are from Mt. Washington.
