why can't we have fests like this in Mass?

toggletoggle post by armageddonday   at Nov 22,2004 7:36pm
*no places for it
*people to book it
*MD already does it we should do something else

toggletoggle post by AUTOPSY_666   at Nov 22,2004 7:37pm
Because no one around here has done one yet.

toggletoggle post by armageddonday   at Nov 22,2004 7:38pm
Yeah, I've been thinking about it. It's a bit scary though, I see how I stress out for every single one show I book, I can't imagine a fest. I'd like to.

IMMOLATION
CRYPTOPSY
ABORTED, ect.

You didnt even know that Scum was a Napalm Death album. You don't like grindcore.

Its like 90% grind bands. I've never heard your band but from how it was described to me you would be as out of place as Internal Bleeding on that show.

what the hell are you talking about? sorry mr. 35 years old and king of grindcore. I was only 3 years old in 1986, eat a fucking dong sideways. I had 2 napalm death tapes in 7th grade: harmony corruption, utopia banished. I dig assuck, and most of the other more polished grind bands. Shitty sounding music isn't my thing.

you don't like my band, It doesn't bother me (us), shut up already.

I knew that, he's just taking shots at me. He even said in his previous post that he's never heard us. I don't see much of a connection between us and internal bleeding, but whatever. We're both forms of death metal and I actually do dig some of internal bleeding's material. I'm glad they have Chris back in the band on guitar, the newest lineup wasn't cutting it.

someone explain to me how a death metal band is out of place on a death fest?

I've never heard your band. (although the word "chugga" was used to describe your band so I probably wouldn't like it anyways)

Hypothetical line up:

Napalm Death
Angel Corpse
Morbid Angel
Six Feet Under
Repulsion
Mortician

one of these things is not like the other.........

yeah we're a straight up hatebreed clone. you're the expert.

So I posted that I didn't get a response from RyanMDF? If it makes you feel better about yourself to say "maybe they heard your band", then make fun of me because I wasn't listening to Napalm Death at the age of 3 then keep up the good work buddy. Soon you won't need to take prozac.

I think we did agree on that one. Though IMO all of those bands are tied into the same scene.

check it out, will has an internal bleeding sticker on his bass. Does that make's his band gay and chugga?

I have a Chicago sticker on my guitar case. Does that make Adolf Satan a jazz/rock fusion band?

I was never a huge fan of AC (maybe I'm not grind's #1 fan after all). Maybe a few tracks made me chuckle a bit. 311 sucks, the internet is gay.

As far humor goes in metal/grind I think crochduster has everyone beat. Shit is hillarious, and the guitarist is clearly a sick player.

Actually, it's not one of those deals. It's not like we personally know every band that plays MDF. We book bands we want to see, and if others want to see them, that's great. I honestly don't know what band you're in, so please excuse me for that. I can assure you you're not the only one that hasn't received a reply from us. If I replied to every e-mail I received, this fest would be full time for me, and that's just not possible because I'm busy with life in general.
Anyhow, as for the rest of the stuff you guys are arguing about, it seems like it's on path for a crashcourse leading to nowhere.

it's cool, I realize you're probably busy, so am I and I know how it get's sometimes. You must be getting assloads of e-mail from bands requesting to play the 2005 fest. I hope to be on an MDF in the future, it looks like it's much more organized and overall better than most other festival settings.

as far as the rest of the shit we were arguing about, doesn't really matter.

Tom, e-mail Lividity about Central Illinios fest. Its an extremely well run fest also with a very good turnout every year. Matt's a good guy and will most likely hook you up if the fest is not already booked. Actually, call me and I'll try to get you hooked up with him.

That's what I was about to say...Realisticly this is the best fest in the US right now, and I was about to bet the number of emails these guys get every day about bands who want to play. We have enough emails like this for the shitty shows we put on in PVD...

josh martin you are wrong in this argument. while many bands on this fest are grind, the ones that are not are death metal. like cryptopsy, immolation, aborted, wormed (who was just added). loads of death metal bands have played the last 2 MDF's as well, including my own band. Porphyria would fit in absolutely fine at this fest.

the MDF is run very well. although i did have one problem. my band didn't find out that there were no guitar cabinets at the club until i told them because i got there a day early. Ryan if we're going to have to bring our own guitar cabinets for this fest you should e-mail the bands and let them know so we won't have the same problem as last year, where some bands got delayed because they needed an amp

You're in Dehumanized, right? Or am I wrong? We do e-mail bands all the equipment information months in advance, and the cabinet situation was included in that e-mail. Since you were added to the line up less than a week before the fest, I was likely too busy to think of forwarding you the e-mail. Then again, I might be wrong and you're not in Dehumanized. Anyhow, we are getting our cabinets for the backline this year to avoid this issue all together. As for the other bands that had minor problems this past year, it was on them because everyone was made aware of the situation. We tell everyone to contact us in advance if anything will be problematic, yet amazingly everyone waits until the fest to inform us of an issue. It's to be expected.
