I was just thinkin about some old acts from about 10 years ago, such as: 6L6, Big John Stud, Cast Iron Hike, Overcast, Turmoil, Only Living Witness...etc., what the fvck happend to the people in these bands? RTTP should do a 'where are they now?'

What are some of the other 'older' acts you folks remember gracing the New England scene 'back in the day?' and do you have any follow ups?

With most new shit so fvcking gay and repetitive, I have been on a real old-school kick lately. Just dusted off some old SBC and Sheer Terror Vinyl. Oh fvck yeah! Actually heard Suicidal's Send Me Your $$$ Today for the first time in about 13 years!!!! Fvckin bitch t!ts!!!!!!

I saw cast iron hike a couple of times, overcast a bunch of times, big john stud played one of the first 'hardcore' shows I went too.

I have a big john stud tape. haha.

Got a good friend that can master tapes like that and burn them onto CD. He's got a kick ass Cubase 2 set up. Hang on to that tape; it'd be killer to put together an old comp.

454 Big Block's another band. Actually did some Recording with Mike@Salad Days a few years back. Man I miss those days of Rochester Safe N Sound, Cafe Savoie, Elvis Room, and Espresso Bar. Caught many a fine show @ The Space in Worcester too. Some of the best moments of my life were @ the Espresso.

What happened to Entropy from NH? They were pretty good.

Anyone ever heard Point 04? They were like a watered down Sheer Terror. I remember Big John Stud, I saw them a few times. The singer used to work at one of the only record stores at the time that sold underground black metal. I see him every once in awhile randomly.

toggletoggle post by bringbacknh at Nov 17,2004 12:02am
Anyone catch ForceFedShovelHead? Rumour is the singer shotgun murdered a guy.

Yes, I remeber Point .04, they played Rochester's Safe n Sound many a time, we played with them quite a bit there, they also had the record for the largest 'tag' on the SNS walls. Another band's sig there was OTIS, I would give my left testical for live footage of OTIS from Boston. Heavy fuckin shit, they had a no Tom Drum rule and it fvckin kicked ass!!!

Gapeseed, Humans Being, and Daysgone were regulars @ SafeNSound also. Anyone know what became of SNS? I heard its either a fag bar or a lawn mower joint now; ferris...anyone?....

Jet from SBC has a new band now, I forget the name.

Only Living Witness were awesome. What DID happen to them?

Slapshot is still plugging away, determined to make that comeback they've been working at for christ knows how long. (Seriously, who gives a shit after the steaming shit that was "blast furnace")

The guys from Brawlpark (most of them) are in a band called Only Way Out now, same kinda hardcore shit - it's pretty good.

Tom and Ryan from Time Will Tell are in Tommy and the Terrors now. Nick joined Bane and was their drummer for years, just quit about a year ago.

As for other bands I used to dig, I wonder what happened to Democracide, Gang Green, Maelstrom, Bullet Lavolta, The Bruisers, Sleeping Giant, Breaking Point (the original, not the current band with the same name), Bulkhead, jesus, I could go on for hours.

point 04, strike 3, oxford snow kings, as i bleed, against all (piecemeal), veiled, fault, life passed on, overcast, diecast, fragment, ect.

It's a shame the only time I got to play what was safe n' sound was then 'right attitudes' and the walls were painted black and there were giant crosses up on each side of the stage. gay.

Jet's new band is called 'Jet Fuel'

'Strike 3' nice...someone actually remembers, yeah, I was on drums back then. Here's the rest of the bio:

Caleb (Vox): Bassist for Cave-In
Adam (F'ckin best fucking guitarist in NH): Family guy, Honda Tech (even though he fuckin hates Hondas, but it pays the bills). Been breaking his arm to start something again; big time wasted talent.
Duane (Bass): Solo project: aomonline.com (Another Ordinary Man), kinda electronic/arcade sounding, but cool. Lives in NH still.
Chris D. (second guitar near the end of S3): Rumour is he burned all Strike 3 master copies and moved to San Fran to become a bike messenger, but no one knows for sure.
Joel (Original Drums): Owns autoparts on-line mail order biz, desperately trying to get something going on in NH again. Really miss the old days when there were about 15 shows a weekend to go to.
Jody (Second Drums): Lives in NH, don't belive he is doing anything musically. Also was the drummer for In-Line from NH for many many many years.

nother oldie, Stompbox, a NATIONAL search of endless sources has revealed and come to the conclusion that there is NO FOOTAGE of this band live ANYWHERE! And the rare footage that is out there is sealed in a vault with fat cats shitting on it. Tried to get it, no dice.
Real rocking Boston band about 1992 or so, broke out big with major label, had a video on RAGE TV every now and again back then and then fucking vanished. Heard that some of the members are in the Blue Man Group???
If anyone has any info, live records, audio/vid., etc., cash and prizes will be awarded!!!!

Enio is in Halo Burn.

Eastcide became Finalist, don't know if they are still around. They played a few shows and I haven't heard anything since.
My friend and I filmed Eastcide @ Localbazooka (the good year), in front of 30,000 people on the main stage. We have the footage still on SVHS stored away and some year it will get edited and released. Good fuckin shit!

'hotdiggitymothafuck!' not familiar with the term, please enlighten.

The first fucking time I saw the fags in Disturbed I was saying the exact same thing. That band seems so cooked up in a lab, I was wondering if the rights to No Woods had expired and some record exec., ganked the riff?
Caught Disturbed with Nothingface, Mudvayne (I think), didn't care about anyone but NF. Here's some shit my friend's working on: http://www.nothingfacelive.com

hotdiggitymothafuck! : an interjection (also known as an "ejaculation", for you semanticist types, natch!) expressing simultaneous incredulity and astonishment, synonymous with "Well I'll be double-dipped in sour owl shit!" and "Fuckity-fuck-fuck double-dutch fuckery!"

its etymology is hotly disputed. knife-fights have erupted at the mere suggestion of its origin and pseudo-intellectuals (such as myself) have often been clubbed to death

I'm 31, dipshit. But what's wrong with being 40? A 40 year old who was into good music 25 years ago would have seen some cool shit. Cooler than anything we'll ever see.

No not at all. They were a NYC hardcore band for like 27 years. Bills like Killing Time, SOIA, 25 ta Life, etc. use to be all over the place in the early 90's. You can pretty much insert any band from that genre with Killing Time and have your self a Sunday Matinee ANYWHERE!

so... strike 3 you know I get paid every time that name is mentioned ...just kidding I was the bassist for strike 3 (duane) my boy told me there was alot of name dropping going on here, I would like to say a few things on behalf of those days. They were fun and great and there was definitly a huge scene loyalty almost a brotherhood. I wondered for many years what hapened, then I look to history for the answers. the scene was flooded with the "sounds like bands" just like boston in the early 90s I think thats why NH got such mad props during this time there was something fresh just north...then the scene broke open bands were coming out of the woodwork the whole emo/sceamo/metalcore/nu-metal had just begun and no one was KEEPING IT REAL anymore [(plus the Xstraight edge DogmaX moved in) not that im dogging that but its your choice not the rest of the scene] that turned a lot of people off big time at one point we had stopped playing shows because it was always the same old shit. after S3 split Joel and I tried to start a new band some of y'all may remember (goldsteins book aka ichonysteris) and by that time we were way to late we didnt dress the part any more, during this time I had started a record label and wanted to release a strike 3 discography and move on I thought the kids would enjoy that. thats when we found out that Chris (ex-2nd Guitarist and ex-proclamation, they were an ill band) had burned the "lost tapes" (this is true he told me one night in Concord over a few beers!) at this point in my life its all good and I have moved on I still keep in touch with Adam (the greatest guitarist I have ever known) and Joel (who has been keeping it real from day one no matter how crazy it comes off) I would liike the NH scene to suceed above all even though its not my bag and I think it will with bands like Life at zero, porfeeria(sorry I cant spell this shit) taste of silver, hand choke neck (Montana boys are ill crazy MF), and being able to play with national acts at millys or the bombshelter, but the main advice I have is to KEEP IT REAL ALWAYS and drop any dogmatic stigma that will turn the young people away beacause they are the furture of the scene (the cipher) they must learn from you to evolve to the next level!

Dbenton-AOM studios-sound engineer, DJ, family man, beatsmith, and another ordinary man.
Peace.

Memories! I could go on & on about some of these bands/posts; I knew alot if not most of 'em from my days doing the hardcore/metal show on WJUL in Lowell. Here are a few tidbits that I know-my own band Ichabod consists of myself on guitar (I played in Hearing Impaired, replacing Mark Sheehan when he went on to play with GG Allin & Out Cold, then in Worldseed, before heavy shit with gothy female vocals was popular, then in Bitter after Rich from Wargasm quit), Ken Mackaye on vocals (ex-Big John Studd) & Greg Dellaria on bass (ex-Subjugator, Blood for Blood, Buddha, etc.); past lineups included Ronnie Dion on drums (ex-psychosis), Ken Joyner on bass (ex-No Thanks, Brown), & Mark Brophy on bass (ex-Infestation, who featured Cryptopsy's Mike Desalvo on vox). A bunch of old timers right there, eh?

As for other band stuff I know, Pat from Atomicaust/Nerve Womb went on to play in Red Telephone; Jonah Jenkins from Only Living Witness went on to front Miltown, then Milligram, and now he sings in Raw Radar War, formerly known as Septic Youth Command (Brutal shit!). Jake Brennon of Cast Iron Hike now has a country band called the Confidence Men and Chris plays in Blacktail which also features the drummer from Eye for an Eye. Zeph from Stompbox was in Milligram also, and then Drug War with Dave Tree, who's now in Superpower with Terry from Grief/Warhorse and Butch from Porn Star. to see a Dougie Fresh Show with Rickie G and Red Alert was puttin'
in work, and Chuck Chill had my homies on the hill gettin' ill, when
shit was real. Well I can still remember Raw with Daddy Cain, when De La
Soul was puttin' potholes in the game. I can't explain how it was,
Whodini had me puffin' on dat buddha gettin' buzzed, cuz there I was
Them block parties in da projects and on my block and tic ya don't stop

and MC Lyte Listen to Treach and KRS ta get me through the night. With
Te La Rock and Madtronics with Stetsasonic, remember when Push it was da

Ain't nothin' like da old school

CHORUS: What more can I say I wouldn't be here today if da old school
didn't pave the way

I had Shell toes and BVD's, a killa preaca shot my lees when I hit da
streetz. I'm playin' Skelly, Ring-a-levio when and catch a kiss, before
my homies in my hood learned ta smack a bitch. I remember, way back
da weak weed they had, too many seeds in da trade bag. Im on a train
headin' uptown freestylin' with some wild kids from Bucktown, Profilin'
cuz da hoochies were starin', checkin' what a niggaz wearin' I'm
wonderin' if dats her hair, I remember stick ball, humpin' hoochies on
da wall, takin' leaks up on da steps stinkin' up da hall. Through my
childhood wild as a juvenile a young nigga tryin' ta stay away from
Riker's Isle, Me and my homies breakin' ice tryin' ta keep it true out
on da roof sippin' 90 proof
ain't nothin' like da old school

CHORUS: What more can I say...

Remember Poppin and Lockin with Curtis Blow, the Daybelts, and Skat la
Rock da super hole back in latin corners. When Slick Rick was spittin'
Lodi Dodi, gaming no hoochies at da neighborhood block parties, I
remember breakdancin' to Mel E Mel, Jeckyl and Hyde, L.L. when he rocked
da bells forget da T.V I'd rather hit da streets and do grafitti be
careful don't let the transit cops see me
It ain't nothin' like da old school
It ain't nothin' like da old school

Chorus: What more can I say......

PAC: remember seein' Brooklyn go crazy up in the motherfuckin party?
Remember MothaFukas used ta go"Is Brooklyn in da House" and Motherfuckas

what about Warhorse? i heard the lead singer moved to Barre or something like that. anyone remember Hate Chicken?

Krista, who used to sing and play geetar for Warhorse went on to form Lucubro; Mike Hubbard the drummer is MIA, Jerry, the bassist/singer for later incarnations is also very low profile these days. Todd the replacement for Krista when she left went on to help form Sin of Angels, and Terry, the last guitarist, from Grief, is now in Superpower with Dave from Tree. Any more?

I'll stop there for now...I could go on and on and on....

Butch is a good dude, i think i still have one of porn stars shirts around here somewhere !

oh how i miss Club Babyhead and the Rat !
