the only part i think is funny..is when the italian ladies..don't get that he doesn't speak italian and they continue talknig to him in italian over and over...

thankfully my family over here is made up of 2nd, 3rd and 4th generation italians and we only get a few legit italian speaking family members (who are all women incoincidentally?) whereas everyone else can swear / scream at their kids in italian. i still dare not bring friends to family gatherings.

kudos to the rev because it's hilarious trying to talk to some of my (very distant) aunts and uncles because their sentences are basically choppy english w/thick italian accent that just slowly turns into full on italian. unfortunately i haven't gotten on the ball with taking any italian classes or tape/cd learning so im stuck with the ol' "smile and nod" routine.

i found that as long as you make physical contact while carrying a conversation, they yell a little less and smile alot more. a kiss on the cheek pre/post conversation is totally obligatory though haha.

you're more than welcome to come to one of our family gatherings but be prepared - the mainini / coletta women do ALOT of cooking and cleaning and you might just be sucked in.
